Hypothetical models of food consumption behavior by the elderly

Aging is not only a challenge for food producers, but also provides a treasure trove of new opportunities for product development and innovations. We have designed a prototype model of food consumption of the elderly with the goal of calling the attention of producers and growers to the specific needs of this growing market segment. However, the food consumption habits of the elderly cannot be compacted into a single model, since this specific age group is not homogenous. By designing hypothetical models we are hoping to facilitate the further research of the issue. In the near future we want to test and try our general models in practice, involving the producers as well as the consumers. The models point at the specific needs of aging populations and their choice of food products based upon reasonable decisions and focusing on the future. Considerations of the future perspective are an important feature of this behavior, since it might significantly improve the quality of life and health awareness of the elderly, their decisions in the field of consumption, and ultimately their general health and welfare conditions

Magyarország városainak történeti atlasza = Hungarian Atlas of Historic Towns

A kutatási program célja a Nemzetközi Várostörténeti Bizottság (CIHV) történeti városatlasz programjának magyarországi megvalósítása, ezen belül Buda, Kecskemét, Sátoraljaújhely és Sopron atlaszának összeállítása volt, amelyet sikerrel elvégeztünk. A feldolgozandó városok kiválasztásánál ügyeltünk arra, hogy a települések tükrözzék a magyarországi városfejlődés jellegzetes típusait és földrajzi megoszlását. A kiadásra előkészített atlasz-kötetek a CIHV által meghatározott, egész Európára kiterjedően egységes szempontok szerint mutatják be térképes és szöveges formában a kiválasztott négy város területi fejlődését. A szöveges rész egy részletes történeti helyrajzi tanulmányból és egy, a várostopográfia meghatározó elemeinek listáját tematikus bontásban tartalmazó topográfiai adatbázisból áll. A grafikai anyagban találhatók meg az adott várost és környékét különböző időmetszetekben a nemzetközi előírások szerint ábrázoló térképek (A), a szerkesztett tematikus térképek és a hozzájuk tartozó kommentárok (B), és a reprodukcióként csatolt felmérések, térképek és látképek (C). Az atlaszok nemcsak az eddigi szakirodalom eredményeit összegzik, hanem összeállításuk során szerzőik alapvető új megállapításokat is tettek az egyes városok kialakulásával, történeti fejlődésével és morfológiájával kapcsolatban. A megjelentetendő anyag alkalmas lesz nemzetközi összehasonlító topográfiai kutatásokban való felhasználásra is. | The aim of the project was to implement the ?European Atlas of HistoricTowns? project initiated by the Commission Internationale pour l?Historie des Villes (CIHV) in Hungary by compiling and editing the atlases of four selected towns: Buda, Kecskemét, Sátoraljaújhely and Sopron. The towns were selected in order to give the broadest possible view of Hungarian urban development, both concerning the towns? legal status, morphological types and geographical distribution. The prepared volumes follow the guidelines prepared by the CIHV, which are used Europe-wide in the publications of towns atlases. The atlases provide textual and cartographic information on the topographic development of the four selected towns. The textual part includes a detailed historical-topographical study and a thematically structured database on the main elements of the spatial organisation of the given town. The graphic part consists of maps of each town and their surroundings in several chronological sections according to the international guidelines (A), of thematic maps compiled and commented upon by the authors (B), and of facsimiles of surveys, maps and views (C). The atlases y summarize the results of existing topographical studies and include new research results on the origins, topographic growth and morphological structure of the given towns. After publication, this material can serve as a basis for integrating Hungarian towns into research on comparative urban history

A magyar és a szlovák kis- és középvállalkozói szektor innovációs teljesítményének összehasonlító elemzése

Based on the European Innovation Scoreboard the study intends to provide a compara-tive assessment of the innovation performance of Hungary and Slovakia. The assessment extends to a wide range of indicators covering structural conditions, knowledge creation, innovation at the firm level, R&D expenditures. As catching-up countries Hungary's and Slovakia's innovation performances are well below the EU27 average, but the rate of im-provement is above that of the EU average, especially in case of Slovakia. The low per-formance is attributable to both lagging innovation capabilities in the business sector and an insufficient contribution of public research organizations to the innovation system. There is a need for more stable governance of the innovation system and a more evidence-based approach to policy making in the area of science, technology and innovation policy
