Solving Organisational Problems with Intranet Technology

    Get PDF
Information serves as an essential intermediate input in decision-making for any business process. It is an essential requirement not only for effective and efficient management but also for medium and long term planning. In this era of technological advancement the rapid growth of information flow has contributed significantly in the expansion of business, commercial, industrial, financial, educational and research organisations. Electronic communication provides the ability to overcome many organisational problems. In recent years, an easy and inexpensive access to information through the Internet and e-mail has created an atmosphere of strong competition among organisations. In this competitive environment, the organisations need an efficient, productive and competent internal set-up based on a well-informed workforce. In the absence of effective co-ordination, the expansion of an organisation may result in inter-group conflicts, unhealthy bureaucratic activities, and various complexities in decision-making [Telleen (1996)]. This applies even more to organisations in developing countries such as Pakistan that are in need of efficient ways to improve governance and enhance institutional reforms.

Objective: To perform a clinical audit of the practices related to the management of third and fourth degree perineal tears. Methods: The retrorspective study was conducted in 2019 at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and comprised medical records from January 2008 to December 2018 of women having singleton term vaginal delivery and sustaining obstetric anal sphincter injuries. The change in practices regarding tear management was compared with a previous audit done at the same institution in 2008. Data was analysed using SPSS 20.Results: Of the 25,370 deliveries, 142(0.56%) sustained obstetric anal sphincter injuries. There was a significant increase compared to the previous audit in terms of documentation of the method of repair, use of delayed absorbable suture material for the repair of external anal sphincter and follow-up at 6 weeks to see the success of repair and plan the next delivery (p\u3c0.05). The use of vacuum vaginal delivery increased to 27(19%) from 5(4%), but there was decrease in injuries complicated by instrumental vaginal deliveries (p\u3c0.05).Conclusions: Despite the increase in the number of deliveries, the frequency of obstetric anal sphincter injuries remained similar to the previous audit, indicating that regular clinical audits are integral to keeping clinical practice in accordance with the established standards

This study aims to analyze and compare the financial stability of Pakistani banks covering a timeframe of 5 years from 2012 to 2016. This study employs the financial soundness indicators of the International Monetary Funds and State Bank of Pakistan and the z-score index. The comparative analysis through average scores is performed using 3 indicators of financial stability namely Z-Score, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Equity to Total Assets Ratio. The findings of the research reveal that (i) conventional banks are more financially stable than Islamic banks; (ii) large conventional banks are more financially stable than large Islamic banks; (iii) small Islamic banks are less stable than small conventional bank. The implication of this paper is that conventional banks have the potential of absorbing financial stability shock as compare to Islamic banks on the basis of stated financial soundness indicators and Z-Score specifically.DOI: 10.15408/aiq.v10i2.650

This paper presents the fusion of Notch filter and Wavelet Transform method for denoising ECG signals contaminated with Power line interference. The objective results are compared qualitatively as well as quantitatively while the effectiveness of the method is also validated by Comparing the obtained results with traditional notch filters as well as the wavelet denoising method. The simulation results demonstrate that the purposed method is most effective for removal of power line interference in terms of fast time convergence as well as less complexity of the deployed algorithm.&nbsp

Internet is a useful tool for all in a technologically advanced world. Internet use for education is very important. It is now in practice to teach school to college to get more out of it. In this study, the emphasis is given on the most important success factor that investigates about Internet usage by students of the University, whether it is an effective learning tool for students and teachers and also examines the level of use Internet and whether the Internet is useful for distance learners. The sample of the data is taken from the universities of the twin cities (Islamabad and Rawalpindi). The quantitative technique for data analysis was SPSS. The results reveal that most students find that the Internet knowledge is essential for students and teachers. Above all respondents in the questionnaire that students feel comfortable using the Internet and provides substantial information and half of those surveyed felt that Internet use is difficult in school. Results show that the Internet is easier to use then the collection of research tools, while the Internet is very important. It is recommended that students should align their potential for significant and positive use of the Internet. Further it is recommended also to educate students to use basic Internet tools
