Optical vortex generation from molecular chromophore arrays
The generation of light endowed with orbital angular momentum, frequently termed optical vortex light, is commonly achieved by passing a conventional beam through suitably constructed optical elements. This Letter shows that the necessary phase structure for vortex propagation can be directly produced through the creation of twisted light from the vacuum. The mechanism is based on optical emission from a family of chromophore nanoarrays that satisfy specific geometric and symmetry constraints. Each such array can support pairs of electronically delocalized doubly degenerate excitons whose azimuthal phase progression is responsible for the helical wave front of the emitted radiation. The exciton symmetry dictates the maximum magnitude of topological charge; detailed analysis secures the conditions necessary to deliver optical vortices of arbitrary order
Changes in Hematopoietic Levels and Milk Components during the First Weeks after Labor in the Maghrebi She-Camel
Camels play an important role in social life and the economy. So, the current study was planned to detect the blood constituents and milk components of Maghrebi She-Camel in different parties. Thirty pregnant she-camels were inseminated and became pregnant in this study during the first quarter of 2019; thirteen pregnant she-camel managed to give calving successfully during March 2020. According to multiple parities, they were classified into three groups; (1-2 parities), (3-4 parities) and (5-6 parities). Blood measurements included hematology, substances, ions and milk measurements included yield and components. No significant differences between all groups for all hematological measurements. The overall mean of daily milk production was significantly higher after eight weeks of lactation than at the beginning of lactation. No significant results were shown in milk fat, lactose and protein neither parties nor lactation period. Milk total solid significantly was in its lowest values eight days of parturition for the first and second parties and was at its highest values for the third and fourth parties. A significant difference in ash% was found between experimental parties for the first eight days of lactation and after eight weeks. In general, those insignificant differences in blood parameters, milk productivity and composition might indicate animal health and stability
Fuzzy neighborhood structures on partially ordered groups
Ahsanullah (1988) showed the compatibility between group
structures and I-fuzzy neighborhood systems. In this paper, we
require not only that the I-fuzzy neighborhood systems be
compatible with the group structures, but also compatible with
the order relation, in one sense or another
Evaluation of the uterine cavity by office hysteroscopy in patients with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss: a cross sectional study
Background: The aim of the present study is to determine role of hysteroscopy in women presented with primary or secondary infertility and in women presented with recurrent pregnancy loss. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Obstetrics and Genecology Department, Women Health Hospital Assiut University, Egypt from October 2016 to February 2018. Reproductive aged women who are suspected as having intrauterine pathology, such as submucosal myoma, endometrial polyps or other endometrial pathological findings based on the transvaginal ultrasound were enrolled. All patients were scheduled for office hysteroscopy as an outpatient. An informed consent was obtained prior to participation in the study. Results: Hysteroscopy was performed in 139 infertile women and 41 cases of repeated pregnancy loss. With regard to infertile patients; 67.6% of the patients had normal findings, 10.1% of the patients had intrauterine adhesion, 8.6% of the patients had intrauterine polyp. 5.8% of the patients had septate uterus and 3.6% of the patients had depressed fundus. With regard to patients with recurrent pregnancy loss; 51.2% of the patients had normal findings, 21.9% of the patients had partial septum, 9.8% of patients had intrauterine adhesions, 7.3% of patients had intrauterine polyp and 4.9% of the patients had submucous myoma. Conclusions: It was concluded that hysteroscopy should be considered as routine investigation in evaluation of women with primary and secondary infertility
Study of the Urinary Ratio of 6 β-Hydroxycortisol/Cortisol as a Biomarker of CYP3A4 Activity in Egyptian Patients with Chronic Liver Diseases
The urinary ratio of 6 β-hydroxycortisol/cortisol (6 β-OHC/C) as a biomarker of CYP3A4 metabolizing activity has been studied in Egyptian patients with chronic liver cirrhosis associated with previous hepatic Schistosomiasis infection to determine any possible alteration in enzyme activity. The ratio of 6-β OHC/C was determined in morning urine samples collected from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in healthy adults (n = 36) and patients with liver cirrhosis (n = 57). The median age for control was 27 years (range: 18–50 years) and 50 years (range: 27–75 years) for patients. 6 β-OHC was detected in urine by ELIZA kits (Stabiligen, France). Patients with liver cirrhosis were categorized according to Child Pugh Classification into Child B (n = 28) and Child C (n = 29) classes. Cholestasis was observed in 9/28 of Child B class and 8/29 of Child C class of patients. The control subjects showed gender-related difference in the urinary ratio of 6 β-OHC/C. A significant reduction (P < 0.001) in 6 β-OHC/C ratio was observed only in Child C patients in comparison with control subjects. Regression analysis showed a significant correlation (P < 0.05) between 6 β-OHC/C ratio and serum albumin. The influence of cholestasis on the urinary ratio of 6-β OHC/C was observed on cirrhotic patients of Child B class. In conclusion, patients with chronic liver cirrhosis might have a reduction of metabolizing activity of CYP3A4 enzymes which could be identified by measuring the urinary ratio of 6 β-OHC/C. This reduction is more apparent in severe liver injury (Child C class). Therefore, it is important to understand the metabolic fate of drugs metabolized by 3A4 enzymes in patients with liver cirrhosis to avoid drug accumulation that might lead to development of drug toxicity
A Unified Theoretical Description of the Thermodynamical Properties of Spin Crossover with Magnetic Interactions
After the discovery of the phenomena of light-induced excited spin state
trapping (LIESST), the functional properties of metal complexes have been
studied intensively. Among them, cooperative phenomena involving low spin-high
spin (spin-crossover) transition and magnetic ordering have attracted
interests, and it has become necessary to formulate a unified description of
both phenomena. In this work, we propose a model in which they can be treated
simultaneously by extending the Wajnflasz-Pick model including a magnetic
interaction. We found that this new model is equivalent to
Blume-Emery-Griffiths (BEG) Hamiltonian with degenerate levels. This model
provides a unified description of the thermodynamic properties associated with
various types of systems, such as spin-crossover (SC) solids and Prussian blue
analogues (PBA). Here, the high spin fraction and the magnetization are the
order parameters describing the cooperative phenomena of the model. We present
several typical temperature dependences of the order parameters and we
determine the phase diagram of the system using the mean-field theory and Monte
Carlo simulations. We found that the magnetic interaction drives the SC
transition leading to re-entrant magnetic and first-order SC transitions.Comment: 30pages, 11figure
Effect of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles on glucose homeostasis on type 2 diabetes experimental model
[Aims]: Evaluation of the anti-diabetic effect of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) on Type 2 diabetic rats and compared their effect to metformin treatment.[Main methods]: Diabetic rats were treated with different doses of nanoparticles one time per week for 4 weeks. Fasting blood glucose level was determined for studied groups during the experimental period (30 days). At the end of the experiment, oral glucose tolerance test was carried out, serum samples were collected for biochemical assays. Then animals were sacrificed to obtain tissues for assessment of glucose transporters, insulin receptors and insulin signaling proteins.[Key finding]: SPIONs treatment normalized fasting blood glucose and lowering insulin level in diabetic rats compared to untreated diabetic rats. SPIONs significantly ameliorate the glucose sensing and the active components of insulin signaling pathway. The anti-diabetic effects of SPIONs may be mediated through its effect on (i) hepatic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha content, which induced by SPIONs treatment in a dose-dependent manner, (ii) adipocytokines as SPIONs treated diabetic rats showed significantly higher levels of adiponectin and lower retinol binding protein 4 compared to untreated diabetic rats, (iii) lipid profile as SPIONs treatment significantly corrected the lipid profile in a dose-dependent manner and to a similar extent as metformin or even better.[Significance]: To our knowledge, this is the first study that explores the anti-diabetic effects of SPIONs on diabetic model. This work was partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Grant PGC2018-095795-B-I00) and by the European Union's Horizon 2020 FET Open Programme (Grant no. 801305).Peer reviewe
Non-global logarithms and jet algorithms in high-pT jet shapes
We consider jet-shape observables of the type proposed recently, where the
shapes of one or more high-pT jets, produced in a multi-jet event with definite
jet multiplicity, may be measured leaving other jets in the event unmeasured.
We point out the structure of the full next-to-leading logarithmic resummation
specifically including resummation of non-global logarithms in the leading-Nc
limit and emphasising their properties. We also point out differences between
jet algorithms in the context of soft gluon resummation for such observables.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures. Title and a few words changed. Several typos
