Learning Management System (LMS) usage help learning process to be more active and productive. However, instructors are not stimulated to use the LMS optimally in their teaching environment. This study was conducted to identify the utilization of LMS in a public higher education institution in Malaysia among instructors. This quantitative approach study, adopts mail questionnaire to 93 instructors at higher education institution. The tools in LMS examined were Groups, Chat, Forum, Announcement, Document, Wiki, Learning Path, Users, Exercises, Course description and Agenda. The result shows low percentages of utilization of LMS from instructors even though they have positive perception towards the potential of LMS in enhancing teaching and learning process. Besides, the study also found that instructors were not exposed much on usage of the tools in LMS. Hence, a suggested LMS framework will be constructed to provide guidance to instructors. Keywords: Learning Management System (LMS), tools, utilization, learning proces

    Get PDF
Studies indicate that trust has a significant impact on users’ acceptance of e-commerce. Discussion on the role of trust in e-commerce environment can be largely found in the literature; however, it scarcely looks at the issue from the Islamic perspective. As religion is one of the factors that helps to gain trust among Muslim internet users to conduct e-commerce, it is therefore pertinent to explore how to build online trust through an analysis of the essential requirements of e-commerce from the perspective of Islamic law of contract. Library research is employed by the means of investigating classical and contemporary literature to search for information on essential requirements underpinning e-commerce contract. Review of existing literature sheds light on some conditions related to offer and acceptance (form), buyer and seller (parties), and object and price (subject matter) of sale contracts concluded via online environment. An appraisal of these issues will justify the validity of e-commerce in Islamic law, thus enhancing the level of online trust among Muslim users

This research is the first attempt to cover best practices for environmental websites in Malaysia. We choose five environmental NGOs in Malaysia (ENGOMs) for a case study and evaluated website practices they used to communicate their missions and goals. A quantitative data was collected and analyzed via content analysis of the five ENGOM websites. The content analysis of the websites sought to determine, identify and assess the best practices of the environmental issues and potentially mobilize government or public action on these issues. How do the ENGOMs effectively use the website to communicate their organizations' missions goals? We conducted an extensive literature review to identify features of websites such as the usefulness of information, interactivity, navigability and design that have been evaluated as important by previous researchers. Then we used these features as a basis for assessing the effectiveness of the practices of environmental websites in Malaysia. The web content analysis demonstrates that all the five ENGOMs had relatively small websites, providing useful information such as mission, goals and organization background. Most of the global issues advocated by them were meant to mobilise support and action. This is considered a rather ineffective use of OC. Interactivity features available across their websites were categorized as a 'low' level of utilization. The ENGOMs did not fully utilize them for the purpose of conducting online campaigns and encouraging dialogue. The navigability of the five ENGOMs websites was categorized at a 'good' level, given that the majority of them provided good and easy navigation. The majority of the websites also met the 'well designed' requirements. Overall, the five ENGOMs have delivered most of the best practice features expected in effective environmental websites; Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) was ranked as the best websites, while Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) is at the opposite end of the spectrum. ENGOMs in their endeavor to develop their websites. However, a key finding is that the websites with more resources did not use them as effectively as websites with fewer resources. Thus, one or two conscientious and well trained employees could be successful with limited resources

This study focuses on developing the Self-Action-Outcome (SAO) model and testing the moderating effects based on gender and academic performance. The SAO model examined the relationship between self-esteem, job-search intensity and career decision-making self-efficacy among graduating students. The instruments used to develop this model were, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Job-Search Intensity Scale, and Career DecisionMaking Self-Efficacy Scale. Participants were recruited using a cluster sampling procedure. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire. Data collected from 678 graduating students were tested with confirmatory factor analysis to obtain three best-fit measurement models from the three latent variables. The results showed that the overall fit of the SAO model was adequate with CFI = .977, TLI = .971 and RMSEA = .048. The statistics indicate that the parameters were free from offending estimates, ranging from .52 to .90. The moderators‟ variables such as gender and academic performance did not moderate the hypothesized SAO model means that the hypothesized SAO model is a good model among graduating students. Implications of the findings for social work practice such as guidance counsellor, research, theory, policy and education were also discussed

Learning Management System (LMS) offers lots of advantages; however it demands lots of responsibilities from instructors and students. Past researchers addressed that one of the barriers in implementing LMS in learning and teaching practices is lack of instructors' knowledge and motivation to utilize LMS in their teaching and practices. This study was conducted to design an assisted pedagogical agent named Collaborative Learning Wizard (CLW). CLW is to assist instructors to design collaborative learning activities by utilizing the tools found in LMS. Before designing the CL W, a survey was conducted to explore the utilization of tools in learning management system (LMS) among instructors in their learning and teaching practices in a public university. The results reveal that even though instructors have a positive perception towards the LMS utilization, however their level of utilization is low. The results also show that instructors do not have sufficient time to explore the available tools in LMS in order to utilize them in the appropriate ways. Thus, this study proposed a CL W which aims to facilitate instructors in utilizing the tools found in the LMS. The wizard provides guidance for instructors in the construction of learning activities using the existing tools found in LMS. Thus, LMS tools can be utilized optimally and students' performance will be enhanced at the same time

In this article, we will present some preliminary findings on the digital employee experience (DEX), which is influenced by an organization’s digital transformation strategies. DEX evolved from employee experience (EX), but it has been modified to work in the digital world. Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) and digital transformation boost the organization awareness about positive DEX. This article also explored the success factors of DEX and its implication to organizations. Our discussion will be based on the Human Resource (HR) approach. We outline how organisations believe that their employees are the most valuable resource because they are considered internal customers and end-users who directly use technology and digital platforms that contribute to the organization’s profitability. Review of literature from previous academic research articles and practitioners’ opinion papers conducted as a methodology of this research. The factors studied will guide the organization on how to create great DEX
