    Direct search for light gluinos

    We present the results for a direct search for light gluinos through the appearance of η3π0\eta\rightarrow 3\pi^{0} with high transverse momentum in the vacuum tank of the NA48 experiment at CERN. We find one event within a lifetime range of 10910310^{-9}-10^{-3}s and another one between 101010910^{-10}-10^{-9}s. Both events are consistent with the expected background from neutrons in the beam, produced by 450 GeV protons impinging on the Be targets, which interact with the residual air in the tank. From these data we give limits on the production of the hypothetical gg~g\widetilde{g} bound state, the R0R^0 hadron, and its R0ηγ~R^0\rightarrow\eta\widetilde{\gamma} decay in the R0R^0 mass range between 1 and 5~GeV

    In a preliminary version of the NA48 experiment at the CERN SPS, in which an iron- scintillator sandwich calorimeter was used as a photon detector, the ratio of KLπμνγ_L \to \pi\mu\nu\gamma and KLπμν_L \to \pi\mu\nu decays was measured. The branching ratio BR(K_L \to \pi\mu\nu\gamma, \mbox{E}_\gamma^*\ge30~\mbox{MeV})/(KLπμν_L \to \pi\mu\nu) is found to be (2.08±0.17(2.08\pm0.17 0.21+0.16)×103^{+0.16}_{-0.21})\times10^{-3}, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The result is in agreement with theoretical predictions

    Measurement of the decay rate and the parameter αK\alpha_{K^{*}} of the decay KLμμγK_{L} \to \mu \mu \gamma

    The rate of the decay of the neutral K meson into KL0μμγK_{L}^{0} \to \mu \mu \gamma has been measured with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS. A total of 59 events has been observed with an estimated background of 14 events. The overall Kaon flux was determined to be 1.2×1091.2 \times 10^{9}. This observation corresponds to a branching ratio of (3.4±0.6stat±0.4sys)×107(3.4 \pm 0.6_{stat} \pm 0.4_{sys}) \times 10^{-7}. Using this branching ratio the parameter αK\alpha_{K^{*}} describing the relative strength of the two contributing amplitudes to this decay, through intermediate pseudoscalar or vectorlike mesons, was measured to be $\alpha_{K^{*}} = -0.04_{-0.21}^{+0.24}

    The decay rate of the neutral K meson KLe+eγ\mathrm{K_{L} \rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}\gamma} has been measured with the NA48 detector at the CERN SPS. A total of 6864 events has been observed with an estimated background of 10 events. The branching ratio is Γ(KLe+eγ)/Γ(KLrightarrowall)=(1.06±0.02stat.±0.02sys.±0.04calc.)×105\mathrm{\Gamma(K_{L} \rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}\gamma)/\Gamma(K_{L} rightarrow all) = (1.06 \pm 0.02_{stat.} \pm 0.02_{sys.} \pm 0.04_{calc.})\times 10^{-5}}. The parameter describing the relative strength of the two contributing amplitudes to this decay through αK\mathrm{\alpha_{K^{*}}} intermediate seudoscalar or vector mesons, was measured to be $\mathrm{\alpha_{K^{*}} = -0.36 \pm 0.06_{stat.} \pm 0.02_{sys.}}
