„Opisać ‘murzyńskość’ po francusku – sprawa „Batouali”
"Batouala: A True Black Novel", written in 1921 by René Maran, was the first black
narrative in French to win the Prix Goncourt. Written nearly twenty years before Senghor’s and
Cesaire’s works appeared, "Batouala" stands out as a notable novel which foretells the Negritude
phenomenon expressing the validation of Africa as the matrix of a proud Black race. The Blacks’
world and attitudes are portrayed through their beliefs and habits. The contact of African and
European cultures is a traumatic one – Africans present a candid portrayal of colonialist presence
in their country – critical and raw. Despite the discomfiture of the encounter between two cultures,
"Batouala" paved the way for the successors – Negritude’s representatives, writers of the independence
period and engaged witnesses of the modernity.„Batouala: prawdziwa powieść murzyńska”, napisana w 1921 roku przez René
Kontakt afrykańskiej i europejskiej kultury należy do traumatycznych –
Afrykanie szczerze opisują obecność kolonizatorów w ich kraju – groźnych i brutalnych. Pomimo
konsternacji wywołanej spotkaniem dwóch kultur, „Batouala” utorowała drogę następcom – przedstawicielom
„murzyńskości”, pisarzom epoki suwerenności oraz świadkom zaangażowanym we
The choice of language for literary creation is not a simple one, especially for African writers. Having grown up in a naturally multilingual environment and exposed to European languages, they often express themselves in the language of former colonizers. However, this is neither obvious nor should it remain a definitive choice for authors from various African countries. We will present different motivations, attitudes, and decisions of several writers; from the most radical, rejecting the European language, to others who hold onto it – either exclusively or accompanied by African languages.

diatoms communities in different periods in the same stations.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 zostało dofinansowane ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej naukę
An attempt at determining the dependence between the number of dead or alive diatom cells and the season or water temperature
Sampling was done in one site established in the Luciąża River on for
occasions over the annual cycle. Observation data are presented in contingency tables,
and their significance tested with the χ² test. Results obtained testify to the dependence
of the numbers of dead and alive cells first of all on season, and also on water
temperature.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 zostało dofinansowane ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej naukę

Post-Memory of “Légitime Défense”
The review “Légitime Défense”, created by a group of Martinican students in Paris, is often presented as a manifesto, more political than literary, without substantial consequences. However, it has induced responses and is remembered in Negro-African intellectual circles all around the world. With the 90th anniversary of its publication approaching, it seems justifiable to read and analyze the « Avertissement » in order to evaluate its thematic and aesthetic importance
Cyanophobie : Barbe-bleue de Perrault à Ben Jelloun
The story of Bluebeard belongs to the fairy tales written by Perrault, which in later times have seen almost countless travesties – in literature, film, opera and others. This article attempts to make a comparative analysis of three French-language literary versions of Bluebeard – from the early classics (Charles Perrault), through the classics of the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (Anatole France), to modern times (Tahar Ben Jelloun). The reasons for the fear present in the story have changed over the centuries, from fear for one’s own life to fears related to the disturbance of the social order.L’histoire de Barbe-Bleue appartient aux contes de fées de Perrault, qui plus tard ont connu presque d’innombrables versions – littéraires, cinématographiques et autres.
Samotność, lęk i depresja wśród pacjentów z padaczką
Introduction. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. The unpredictability of epileptic seizures can lead to feelings of loneliness, social isolation and stigmatisation. Due to the nature of this syndrome, patients may also show symptoms of depression.
Aim. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of anxiety, depression and loneliness, and the relationship between loneliness and depression among adult patients with epilepsy.
Material and Methods. This was a cross-sectional, observational study. A total of 206 patients with epilepsy participated in the study. The study was conducted using a website dedicated for persons with epilepsy. Data was collected from November 2021 to March 2022. Two research tools were used in the study: DeJong Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS-M) and an author-developed demographic questionnaire to characterise the study group.
Results. The prevalence of depressive symptoms and borderline abnormalities was 51.5%, 22.8%, respectively. In the depression subscale, 48.1% of the respondents had depressive symptoms and 22.1% had borderline abnormalities. The anxiety and irritability subscales showed disorders in 34.5% and 69.4% of the respondents, respectively. A very high and high level of loneliness was found in 17% and 26% of respondents, respectively. A moderate level of loneliness was reported by 40% of respondents. In terms of emotional loneliness, severe and moderate loneliness affected 52% and 21% of respondents, while severe and moderate social loneliness was reported by 41% and 28% of respondents.
Conclusions. The study showed relatively high levels of loneliness and depressive symptoms. A significant correlation was found between the level of loneliness and the intensity of depressive symptoms.
Cel. Celem badania było określenie częstości występowania lęku, objawów depresji i poczucia samotności oraz zależności pomiędzy samotnością a depresją wśród dorosłych pacjentów z padaczką.
Materiał i metody. Do przeprowadzenia badania wykorzystano dwa standaryzowane narzędzia badawcze: skalę pomiaru poczucia samotności autorstwa de Jong Gierveld (DJGLS) oraz Szpitalną Skala Lęku i Depresji (HADS-M) — Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale i metryczkę własnego autorstwa charakteryzującą badaną grupę.
Wyniki. Częstość występowania objawów depresji wśród badanych wynosiła 51,5%, u 22,8% stwierdzono stany graniczne. W podskali depresji u 48,1% badanych występowały objawy depresji, u 22,1% stany graniczne. W podskali lęku występowanie zaburzeń zanotowano u 34,5% badanych, natomiast w podskali rozdrażnienia u 69,4% osób. Bardzo poważny i poważny poziom samotności odczuwało (17%, 26%) badanych. U 40% zaobserwowano umiarkowany poziom samotności. W zakresie samotności emocjonalnej z powodu poważnej i umiarkowanej samotności cierpiało (52%, 21%) badanych, natomiast z powodu poważnej i umiarkowanej samotności społecznej (41%, 28%) osób.
Wnioski. W badaniu uzyskano dość wysokie wyniki w zakresie poziomu samotności i częstości występowania objawów depresji. Stwierdzono istotną zależność pomiędzy poziomem samotności a natężeniem objawów depresji. (PNN 2023;12(1):34–43
