‘Neopredeljonnyj’ [Indefinite] vs. ‘Neulovimyj’ [Elusive] in Aspect of Categorical Perception
The article discusses the phenomenon of categorical perception, the success of which the author suggests can be expressed by the formula “this is exactly X from the category ‘X’.” The lexemes ‘neopredeljonnyj’ [indefinite] vs. ‘neulovimyj’ [elusive] are considered as units that verbalize the subject’s categorization difficulties in perception. Based on a comparison of the use of the adjectives ‘neopredeljonnyj’ [indefinite] vs. ‘neulovimyj’ [elusive] with nominations of different types of perceptual perception, it is established in which cases the object of perception, causing categorization difficulties, is designated as ‘neopredeljonnyj’ [indefinite] X and in which cases it is designated as ‘neulovimyj’ [elusive] X. The study is carried out using methods of definitional, componential, distributive, and contextual analysis based on explanatory dictionaries and data from the Russian National Corpus. As a result of the analysis of linguistic material, it was revealed that the combination ‘neopredeljonnyj’ [indefinite] X denotes that a certain X is well perceived by the sense organs, but the subject is unaware (it is absent from their lexicon) of the designation for this X. The combination ‘neulovimyj’ [elusive] X denotes that the sense organs only register the presence of a certain X, while X manifests itself too quickly/weakly or is heterogeneous, making it unrecognizable
Phraseological Units as Means of Subjective-Evaluative Categorization on Scale ‘Confidence — Probability — Uncertainty — Approximation’
The question is raised about the possibility of a systematic description of Russian phraseological units as a means of expressing a more or less confident categorization of objects and situations. The results of definitional, component and contextual analysis of 300 phraseological units are presented. The author’s classification of phraseological units into 4 groups is proposed: “confident categorization”, “most probable categorization”, “uncertain, borderline categorization”, “most approximate / ‘empty’ categorization”. It has been established that in most cases phraseological units express the speaker’s complete confidence in the categorization and evaluation of any objects or situations. It is noted that this confidence is often associated with the signs of ‘true / false’, ‘important / unimportant’, ‘similar / unlike’, ‘good / bad’. It was revealed that a smaller part of phraseological units characterizes the cases of the most probable, borderline and most approximate categorization. In general, the analysis shows that phraseological units most often verbalize such signs of a situation as its truth or falsity, the possibility or impossibility of establishing the truth, trust or distrust of the person from whom some information comes, which indicates the special importance of “truth” in the Russian language picture of the world
The application of micro-wave treatment to reduce barley contamination
ArticleThe goal of this work is to study the applicability of ultra high frequency electromagnetic field treatment for decontaminating barley grain used in brewing while preserving its technological properties. The germination rates and/or yield of the treated sample seed were compared with those of the untreated seed germinated under normal conditions. To determine optimal treatment conditions, a two-factor analysis was carried out, taking the mycological state of the grain into account. The heating rate and the duration of electromagnetic exposure were chosen as variables; these values varied from 0.4 to 0.8 °C s-1 and from 30 to 90 s, respectively. It was found that germination of the treated barley seed was increased about 10.1–15.7% compared with that of the untreated seed. The microbial load decreased up to 80%. A heating rate of 0.4 °C s-1 and treatment exposure time of 30 s showed the strongest effect of decontamination while preserving the viability of the barley grain
Effect of ultrasonic treatment on the dissolution of milk solids during the reconstitution of skim milk powder
ArticleThe producing reconstituted milk products that retain the same sensory properties as
those of raw milk products is of high interest to the food industry In the technology of producing
reconstituted milk processing products, the most significant factor that determines the component
transition degree and the usefulness of the product being produced is the recombination process.
It determines the possibility of bringing the organoleptic characteristics of reconstituted milk to
the properties of the genuine one. One promising method to improve the process of milk powder
recombination is ultrasonic exposure. The aim of the present study is to improve the process of
milk powder recombination using ultrasonic exposure. The results of the conducted studies show
that the ultrasonic treatment eliminates the agglomerates of dried milk particles in water and
provides more accessible interaction between the particles and water, and as a result, improves
the recombination process. The application of ultrasonic treatment during the reconstitution of
the skim milk powder improved the dissolution of milk solids, as evidenced by around a 75%
reduction in the amount of centrifuged insoluble sediment. The mass fractions of protein and
lactose have increased by 4.8 and 6.5%, respectively
DISTRIBUTION OF BRONCHOPULMONARY PATHOLOGY IN WORKERS OF ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION ELECTROLYSIS
Frequency of detection of pathology of respiratory organs in employees of SUAL Public corporation, the branch, of IrkAZ-SUAL, and clilicofunctional peculiarities of course of bronchopulmonary pathology in patients with toxicodust bronchitis, former employees of this enterprise, were studied. Conditions of work of electrolysis and. anode employees corresponded to the class 3.2, of smelter — to the class 3.1. It was determined that medium grave and grave course of chronic obstructive lungs disease and. chronic non-obstructive bronchitis in patients with toxicodust bronchitis, former employees of Irkutsk aluminium factory happened more often in employees of general occupations
Electrophoretic Deposition and Characterization of Er-Doped Bi2O3 Cathode Barrier Coatings on Non-Conductive Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 Electrolyte Substrates
In this study, the formation of thin-film barrier coatings based on a highly conductive Bi1.60Er0.4O3 (EDB) solid electrolyte on supporting Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 (SDC) electrolyte substrates was implemented for the first time using electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The electrokinetic properties of EDB-based suspensions in a non-aqueous dispersion medium of isopropanol modified with small additions of polyethyleneimine (PEI, 0.26 g/L) and acetylacetone (0.15 g/L), as well as in a mixed isopropanol/acetylacetone (70/30 vol.%) medium, were studied. The dependences of the thickness of the EDB coatings on voltage and deposition time were obtained using deposition on a model Ni foil electrode. Preliminary synthesis of a conductive polypyrrole (PPy) polymer film was used to create surface conductivity on non-conductive SDC substrates. The efficiency of using a modified dispersion medium based on isopropanol to obtain a continuous EDB coating 12 μm thick, sintered at a temperature of 850 °C for 5 h, is shown. The microstructure and morphology of the surface of the EDB coating were studied. A Pt/SDC/EDB/Pt cell was used to characterize the coating’s conductivity. The EPD method is shown to be promising for the formation of barrier coatings based on doped bismuth oxide. The developed method can be used for creating cathode barrier layers in SOFC technology. © 2023 by the authors
Modern concept analysis of failure modes and consequences for quality assurance of products and processes
Human needs in certain types of products, in new goods and services are constantly developing, changing, clarifying. To meet these needs, new goods samples are being created, and the products are being improved. Production processes are being developed, new equipment, tools and techniques are being created. New technical solutions, new operations application as well asit execution methods can produce constructive errors and dangerous situations both during production and during its exploitation. The Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) allows to predict that product lifecycle processes can functioning not properly. FMEA helps ensure the products and processes quality at the earliest stages of it design. The American approach (AIAG - Automotive Industry Action Group) and the German approach (VDA - Verband der Automobilindustrie) have now been harmonized. In 2019, the FMEA Handbook was published, reflecting the new FMEA implementation concept. Experience has emerged with a new approach. The work considers the possibilities of applying a new approach in the conditions of Russian companies, which allows to find new technical solutions. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
