    We investigate the angular distributions of the rare B decay, B→K∗(→Kπ)ℓ+ℓ−B \to K^* (\to K \pi) \ell^+ \ell^-, in general supersymmetric extensions of the standard model. We consider the new physics contributions from the operators O7,8,9,10O_{7,8,9,10} in small invariant mass region of lepton pair. We show that the azimuthal angle distribution of the decay can tell us the new physics effects clearly from the behavior of the distribution, even if new physics does not change the decay rate substantially from the standard model prediction

    Higher order QCD corrections to the transverse and longitudinal fragmentation functions in electron-positron annihilation

    We present the calculation of the order αs2\alpha_s^2 corrections to the coefficient functions contributing to the longitudinal (FL(x,Q2)F_L(x,Q^2)) and transverse fragmentation functions (FT(x,Q2)F_T(x,Q^2)) measured in electron-positron annihilation. The effect of these higher order QCD corrections on the behaviour of the fragmentation functions and the corresponding longitudinal (dσL(x,Q2)/dxd\sigma_L(x,Q^2)/dx) and transverse cross sections (dσT(x,Q2)/dxd\sigma_T(x,Q^2)/dx) are studied. In particular we investigate the dependence of the above quantities on the mass factorization scale (MM) and the various parameterizations chosen for the parton fragmentation densities DpH(x,M2)D_p^H(x,M^2) (p=q,gp=q,g; H=π±,K±,P,PˉH=\pi^\pm, K^\pm, P, \bar{P}). Our analysis reveals that the order \alpha_s^2 contributions to FL(x,Q2)F_L(x,Q^2) are large whereas these contributions to FT(x,Q2)F_T(x,Q^2) are small. From the above fragmentation functions one can also compute the integrated cross sections σL\sigma_L and σT\sigma_T in an independent way. The sum σtot=σL+σT\sigma_{tot} = \sigma_L + \sigma_T, corrected up to order \alphastwo, agrees with the well known result in the literature providing us with an independent check an our calculations.Comment: 69 pages, latex2e, uses mcite, amsfonts.     Unitary limit and quantum interference effect in disordered two-dimensional crystals with nearly half-filled bands

    Based on the self-consistent TT-matrix approximation, the quantum interference (QI) effect is studied with the diagrammatic technique in weakly-disordered two-dimensional crystals with nearly half-filled bands. In addition to the usual 0-mode cooperon and diffuson, there exist π\pi-mode cooperon and diffuson in the unitary limit due to the particle-hole symmetry. The diffusive π\pi-modes are gapped by the deviation from the exactly-nested Fermi surface. The conductivity diagrams with the gapped π\pi-mode cooperon or diffuson are found to give rise to unconventional features of the QI effect. Besides the inelastic scattering, the thermal fluctuation is shown to be also an important dephasing mechanism in the QI processes related with the diffusive π\pi-modes. In the proximity of the nesting case, a power-law anti-localization effect appears due to the π\pi-mode diffuson. For large deviation from the nested Fermi surface, this anti-localization effect is suppressed, and the conductivity remains to have the usual logarithmic weak-localization correction contributed by the 0-mode cooperon. As a result, the dc conductivity in the unitary limit becomes a non-monotonic function of the temperature or the sample size, which is quite different from the prediction of the usual weak-localization theory.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figure

    Factorization Breaking in Dijet Photoproduction with a Leading Neutron

    The production of dijets with a leading neutron in ep-interactions at HERA is calculated in leading order and next-to-leading order of perturbative QCD using a pion-exchange model. Differential cross sections for deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) and photoproduction are presented as a function of several kinematic variables. By comparing the theoretical predictions for DIS dijets to recent H1 data, the pion flux factor together with the parton distribution functions of the pion is determined. The dijet cross sections in photoproduction show factorization breaking if compared to the H1 photoproduction data. The suppression factor is S = 0.48 (0.64) for resolved (global) suppression.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure

    Electronic localization at mesoscopic length scales: different definitions of localization and contact effects in a heuristic DNA model

    In this work we investigate the electronic transport along model DNA molecules using an effective tight-binding approach that includes the backbone on site energies. The localization length and participation number are examined as a function of system size, energy dependence, and the contact coupling between the leads and the DNA molecule. On one hand, the transition from an diffusive regime to a localized regime for short systems is identified, suggesting the necessity of a further length scale revealing the system borders sensibility. On the other hand, we show that the lenght localization and participation number, do not depended of system size and contact coupling in the thermodynamic limit. Finally we discuss possible length dependent origins for the large discrepancies among experimental results for the electronic transport in DNA sample
