Delivery of drugs into the brain is one of the most interesting and challenging areas of research. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a highly selective semipermeable membrane that separates blood from the brain in the central nervous system. It acts as a barrier to protect the brain from microbes, neurotoxins and other chemical substances and also blocks the entry of many drugs into the brain. An estimated 6.8 billion people die every year from CNS diseases like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, sclerosis, brain stroke, dementia and others. According to WHO, one billion people are affected worldwide, about 50 million suffer from epilepsy and 24 million suffer from Alzheimer and other dementias. This indicates the importance of the delivery of drugs into the brain for treating various neurological diseases and psychological disorders. In drug targeting, a concept was introduced by Dr. Paul Ehrlich as a ‘magic bullet’ that gave tremendous hope for the researches to deliver drugs into the brain. This review discuses about various drug targeting strategies and applications of nanotechnology in designing drug delivery systems with the ability to cross through the BBB for treating neurological diseases

Background: To compare TIMI & HEART SCORE for their risk stratification in Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients,  prognostic accuracy and Arrhythmia incidence. Methods: This observational study is conducted in a Tertiary care hospital over a period of 2 years from August 2017 to July 2019. A total of 100 patients presented to ER with Chest Pain are selected for study. Patients were monitored for a period of one month in ICCU.Results: In present study out of 61 cases with TIMI score ≥5, mortality of 11.5%(7 cases, p value 0.028). Heart score more than 6  constitutes high risk group, out of which mortality was observed in 7.45% cases (p=0.48). Most of the arrhythmias (70.49%) in present study observed in patients with TIMI score ≥5 (High risk group) which is statistically significant with p value 0.002. Most of the arrhythmias in present study observed in patients with HS ≥8 which is not statistically significant with p value 0.135.Conclusions: In present study, overall mortality rate was 7% and these patients who died constitutes to high risk group with TIMI. HEART SCORE identified more patients as low risk compared to TIMI SCORE. TIMI SCORE is a good predictor of arrhythmia incidence

Aim: To assess the apoptotic induction potentials of Bacopa monnieri against oral cancer cell. Objective: This research is done to find the apoptotic induction potentials of B. monnieri against oral cancer cell line. Background: The apoptosis is a process of programed cell death that occurs in multicellular organisms. Biochemical events lead to characteristic cellchanges and death. The initiation of apoptosis is tightly regulated by activation mechanisms, because once apoptosis has begun, it inevitably leadsto the death of the cell. The two best-understood activation mechanisms are the intrinsic pathway (also called the mitochondrial pathway) and theextrinsic pathway. Methods: The apoptotic induction potential of B. monnieri was studied on KB cell line by investigating the activation of caspase 3 and caspase 9.Reason: Oral cancer is a growing concern due to the changes in lifestyle. The treatment for this disease has been degraded the patient's health bycausing various side effects. An effective treatment for the long run is necessary. Usable of herbal plants can serve to be a possible and very effective remedy. Results: Apoptotic induction potentials of B. monnieri against oral cancer cell line were studied. Conclusion: Caspase 3 and caspase 9 was activated thus proving the apoptotic potential of B. monnieri. Keywords: Bacopa monnieri, oral cancer, apoptotic induction
