The spectrum for 2-perfect 6-cycle systems

    Get PDF
AbstractRecently, the spectrum problem for 2-perfectm-cycle systems has been studied by several authors. In this paper we find the spectrum for 2-perfect 6-cycle systems with two possible exceptions. The connection between these systems and quasigroups satisfying some 2 variable identities is discussed

AbstractLet υ, k, and λ be positive integers. A (υ, k, λ)-Mendelsohn design (briefly (υ, k, λ)-MD) is a pair (X, B) where X is a υ-set (of points) and B is a collection of cyclically ordered k-subsets of X (called blocks) such that every ordered pair of points of X are consecutive in exactly λ blocks of B. A set of k distinct elements {a1, a2,…, ak} is said to be cyclically ordered by a1<a2<⋯<ak<a1 and the pair ai, ai+t is said to be t-apart in cyclic k-tuple (a1, a2,…, ak) where i+t is taken modulo k. It for all t=1,2,…, k-1, every ordered pair of points of X is t-apart in exactly λ blocks of B, then the (υ, k, λ)-MD is called a perfect design and is denoted briefly by (υ, k, λ)-PMD. In this paper, we shall be concerned mainly with the case where k=5 and λ>1. It will be shown that the necessary condition for the existence of a (υ, 5, λ)-PMD, namely, λv(υ-1)≡0 (mod 5), is also sufficient for λ>1 with the possible exception of pairs (υ, λ) where λ=5 and υ=18 and 28

Two Optimal One-Error-Correcting Codes of Length 13 That Are Not Doubly Shortened Perfect Codes

The doubly shortened perfect codes of length 13 are classified utilizing the classification of perfect codes in [P.R.J. \"Osterg{\aa}rd and O. Pottonen, The perfect binary one-error-correcting codes of length 15: Part I - Classification, IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory, to appear]; there are 117821 such (13,512,3) codes. By applying a switching operation to those codes, two more (13,512,3) codes are obtained, which are then not doubly shortened perfect codes.Comment: v2: a correction concerning shortened codes of length 1

Beam spin asymmetry measurements of deeply virtual π0 production with CLAS12

The new experimental measurements of beam spin asymmetry were performed for the deeply virtual exclusive pi0 production in a wide kinematic region with the photon virtualities Q2 up to 6.6 GeV2 and the Bjorken scaling variable xB in the valence regime. The data were collected by the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS12) at Jefferson Lab with longitudinally polarized 10.6 GeV electrons scattered on an unpolarized liquid-hydrogen target. Sizable asymmetry values indicate a substantial contribution from transverse virtual photon amplitudes to the polarized structure functions. The interpretation of these measurements in terms of the Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) demonstrates their sensitivity to the chiral-odd GPD ET, which contains information on quark transverse spin densities in unpolarized and polarized nucleons and provides access to the nucleon's transverse anomalous magnetic moment. Additionally, the data were compared to a theoretical model based on a Regge formalism that was extended to the high photon virtualities

    Orthogonal quadruple systems and 3-frames

AbstractOrthogonal quadruple systems are defined and investigated. Orthogonal quadruple systems with an additional nesting property are shown to provide a new construction of 3-frames F(3,4,n{2}) (Design Codes Cryptogr. 4 (1994) 5). Constructions for pairs of nested orthogonal quadruple systems are provided. Applications to 2-resolvable Steiner quadruple systems and highly nonlinear functions are discussed
