Binding polynomial in molecular self-assembly
In the present work the concept of a binding polynomial is revisited for the most widely used case of self-assembly of identical molecular units and results in the re-construction of a link to the grand partition function of such a system. It is found that if the self-assembly process is not pronounced (i.e., the product of the equilibrium constant and the monomer concentration is close to zero), the binding polynomial has the meaning of a molecular partition function that is given by the summation over energy levels of any molecule in the system. In other cases the concept of a binding polynomial may be misleadin
A nanocomplex of C60 fullerene with cisplatin: design, characterization and toxicity
The self-organization of C60 fullerene and cisplatin in aqueous solution was investigated using the computer simulation, dynamic light scattering and atomic force microscopy techniques. The results evidence the complexation between the two compound
Comparative analysis of the antineoplastic activity of C60 fullerene with 5-fluorouracil and pyrrole derivative in vivo
The antitumor activity of pristine C60 fullerene aqueous solution (C60FAS) compared to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and pyrrole derivative 1-(4-Cl-benzyl)-3-Cl-4-(CF3-fenylamino)-1H-pyrrol-2.5-dione (MI-1) cytostatic drugs was investigated and analyzed in detail using the model of colorectal cancer induced by 1.2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) in rat
The sustainable development of border regions as an urgent and priority issue depends on the coordination of overall activities of neighboring countries in the field of environmental policy, social and economic cooperation. For such an important historical, cultural and physic-geographical area as the Polesie region (Belarus, Poland, Russian Federation, Ukraine) scientific justifications have been put forward for the first time ever proposing a conceptual design and approaches for the implementation of a Polesie Convention. Implementation of the project will contribute to environmental safety, enhance the flow of investments aimed to increase the socio-economic and conservation value of the natural

Energy fluctuations in a biharmonically driven nonlinear system
We study the fluctuations of work done and dissipated heat of a Brownian
particle in a symmetric double well system. The system is driven by two
periodic input signals that rock the potential simultaneously. Confinement in
one preferred well can be achieved by modulating the relative phase between the
drives. We show that in the presence of pumping the stochastic resonance signal
is enhanced when analyzed in terms of the average work done on the system per
cycle. This is in contrast to the case when pumping is achieved by applying an
external static bias, which degrades resonance. We analyze the nature of work
and heat fluctuations and show that the steady state fluctuation theorem holds
in this system.Comment: 13 pages, 14 figures, revised manuscrip
