Kinematic analysis of handwriting movements in patients with Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, depression and healthy subjects
A variety of studies have demonstrated that motor disorders, parkinsonism and extrapyramidal motor symptoms (EPMS) are common in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Several studies have reported an association of EPMS with severity, progression and poor prognosis of AD. The majority of these studies used clinical assessments for the rating of EPMS. In this study, kinematic handwriting analysis was used to quantify differences in fine hand motor function in patients with probable AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCl, as an assumed initial stage of AD) compared to depressed patients and healthy controls. Both patients with MCl and patients with probable AD exhibited loss of fine motor performance. Movements of AD patients were significantly less regular than those of healthy controls. Canteen reform from the perspective of the parents of nursery children in Békéscsaba
It is important to provide sufficient quantity of good quality food for young children. The bases of healthy diet should be learned as a child and nurseries have an important role in shaping the children’s eating habits and forming their taste. This paper summarizes research results about the canteen reform introduced in nurseries on 1st January, 2015. A total of 140 questionnaires were collected from parents or grandparents of the young children attending nurseries in Békéscsaba. We asked them about their pre-reform and post-reform opinions on the children’s food and what they think of the implemented reform. The answers indicated that the parents were satisfied with the nursery caretakers who always gave detailed information about the child’s meal and provided the possibility to discuss problems, most of the parents were well informed about the the nursery canteen reform and the majority agreed with it. Our proposals based on the research are: The parents should have more influence and their opinion should be asked about the catering of their children. Opinions of the nursery caretakers and the catering managers should also be considered, since they spend a lot of time with the young children at the nursery. The changes in the nursery catering should have been implemented more gradually
The art of the pivot: how new ventures manage identification relationships with stakeholders as they change direction
Many new ventures have to pivot – radically transform what they are about – because their original approach has failed. However, pivoting risks disrupting relationships with key stakeholders, such as user communities, who identify with ventures. Stakeholders may respond by withdrawing support and starving ventures of the resources needed to thrive. This can pose an existential threat to ventures, yet it is unclear how they can manage this problem. To explore this important phenomenon, we conduct a qualitative process study of The Impossible Project, a photography venture which encountered significant resistance from its user community as it pivoted from an analog focus to an analog-digital positioning. We develop a process model of stakeholder identification management that reveals how ventures can use identification reset work to defuse tensions with stakeholders whose identification with the venture is threatened. A core finding is that ventures can remove the affective hostility of stakeholders and rebuild connections with many of them by exposing their struggles, thus creating a bond focused around these shared experiences. We offer contributions to scholarship on identification management, user community identification, and pivoting.ESRC 116293

Results of ultra-low level 71ge counting for application in the Gallex-solar neutrino experiment at the Gran Sasso Underground Physics Laboratory
It has been experimentally verified that the Ultra-Low-Level Counting System for the Gallex solar neutrino experiment is capable of measuring the expected solar up silon-flux to plus or minus 12% during two years of operation
V2:Performance of the solid deuterium ultra-cold neutron source at the pulsed reactor TRIGA Mainz
The performance of the solid deuterium ultra-cold neutron source at the
pulsed reactor TRIGA Mainz with a maximum peak energy of 10 MJ is described.
The solid deuterium converter with a volume of V=160 cm3 (8 mol), which is
exposed to a thermal neutron fluence of 4.5x10^13 n/cm2, delivers up to 550 000
UCN per pulse outside of the biological shield at the experimental area. UCN
densities of ~ 10/cm3 are obtained in stainless steel bottles of V ~ 10 L
resulting in a storage efficiency of ~20%. The measured UCN yields compare well
with the predictions from a Monte Carlo simulation developed to model the
source and to optimize its performance for the upcoming upgrade of the TRIGA
Mainz into a user facility for UCN physics.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figure
On the ground state of solids with strong electron correlations
We formulate the calculation of the ground-state wavefunction and energy of a
system of strongly correlated electrons in terms of scattering matrices. A
hierarchy of approximations is introduced which results in an incremental
expansion of the energy. The present approach generalizes previous work
designed for weakly correlated electronic systems.Comment: 17 pages, Latex(revtex
(3+2) Neutrino Scheme From A Singular Double See-Saw Mechanism
We obtain a 3+2 neutrino spectrum within a left-right symmetric framework by
invoking a singular double see-saw mechanism. Higgs doublets are employed to
break and three additional fermions, singlets under the left-right
symmetric gauge group, are included. The introduction of a singularity into the
singlet fermion Majorana mass matrix results in a light neutrino sector of
three neutrinos containing predominantly , ,
separated from two neutrinos containing a small component. The
resulting active-sterile mixing in the mixing matrix is specified
once the mass eigenvalues and the submatrix corresponding to the MNS
mixing matrix are known.Comment: 5 pages, matches published versio
Ground state properties of heavy alkali halides
We extend previous work on alkali halides by calculations for the heavy-atom
species RbF, RbCl, LiBr, NaBr, KBr, RbBr, LiI, NaI, KI, and RbI. Relativistic
effects are included by means of energy-consistent pseudopotentials,
correlations are treated at the coupled-cluster level. A striking deficiency of
the Hartree-Fock approach are lattice constants deviating by up to 7.5 % from
experimental values which is reduced to a maximum error of 2.4 % by taking into
account electron correlation. Besides, we provide ab-initio data for in-crystal
polarizabilities and van der Waals coefficients.Comment: accepted by Phys. Rev.
