The Impact of Monetary Policy on Bank Balance Sheets
This paper uses disaggregated data on bank balance sheets to provide a test of the lending view of monetary policy transmission. We argue that if the lending view is correct, one should expect the loan and security portfolios of large and small banks to respond differentially to a contraction in monetary policy. We first develop this point with a theoretical model; we then test to see if the model's predictions are borne out in the data.
Growth, Characterization, Vortex Pinning and Vortex Flow Properties of Single Crystals of Iron Chalcogenide Superconductor FeCrSe
We report the growth and characterization of single crystals of iron
chalcogenide superconductor FeCrSe. There is an enhancement of the
superconducting transition temperature (T) as compared to the T of the single crystals of the parent compound FeSe by about 25%.
The superconducting parameters such as the critical fields, coherence length,
penetration depth and the Ginzburg-Landau parameter have been estimated for
these single crystals. Analysis of the critical current data suggests a
fluctuation in electronic mean free path induced () pinning mechanism
in this material. Thermally activated transport across the superconducting
transition in the presence of external magnetic fields suggests a crossover
from a single vortex pinning regime at low fields to a collective flux creep
regime at higher magnetic fields. The nature of charge carriers in the normal
state estimated from the Hall effect and thermal transport measurements could
provide crucial information on the mechanism of superconductivity in Fe-based
materials.Comment: 2 additional figures, additional discussion on nature of charge

Two photon annihilation operators and squeezed vacuum
Inverses of the harmonic oscillator creation and annihilation operators by their actions on the number states are introduced. Three of the two photon annihilation operators, viz., a(sup +/-1)a, aa(sup +/-1), and a(sup 2), have normalizable right eigenstates with nonvanishing eigenvalues. The eigenvalue equation of these operators are discussed and their normalized eigenstates are obtained. The Fock state representation in each case separates into two sets of states, one involving only the even number states while the other involving only the odd number states. It is shown that the even set of eigenstates of the operator a(sup +/-1)a is the customary squeezed vacuum S(sigma) O greater than
Atomic data from the Iron Project.XLIII. Transition probabilities for Fe V
An extensive set of dipole-allowed, intercombination, and forbidden
transition probabilities for Fe V is presented. The Breit-Pauli R-matrix (BPRM)
method is used to calculate 1.46 x 10^6 oscillator strengths for the allowed
and intercombination E1 transitions among 3,865 fine-structure levels dominated
by configuration complexes with n <= 10 and l <= 9. These data are complemented
by an atomic structure configuration interaction (CI) calculation using the
SUPERSTRUCTURE program for 362 relativistic quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole
(M1) transitions among 65 low-lying levels dominated by the 3d^4 and 3d^ 4s
configurations. Procedures have been developed for the identification of the
large number of fine-structure levels and transitions obtained through the BPRM
calculations. The target ion Fe VI is represented by an eigenfunction expansion
of 19 fine-structure levels of 3d^3 and a set of correlation configurations. Fe
V bound levels are obtained with angular and spin symmetries SL\pi and J\pi of
the (e + Fe VI) system such that 2S+1 = 5,3,1, L <= 10, J <= 8 of even and odd
parities. The completeness of the calculated dataset is verified in terms of
all possible bound levels belonging to relevant LS terms and transitions in
correspondence with the LS terms. The fine-structure averaged relativistic
values are compared with previous Opacity Project LS coupling data and other
works. The 362 forbidden transition probabilities considerably extend the
available data for the E2 and M1 transtions, and are in good agreement with
those computed by Garstang for the 3d^4 transitions.Comment: 19 pages, 1 figure. This paper marks the beginning of a large-scale
effort of ab initio atomic calculations that should eventually lead to
re-calculation of accurate iron opacities. Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser. (in

Laboratory rearing and seed production of the mud crab Scylla oceanica (Dana)
The green mud crab Scylla oceanica (Dana) was successfully reared, from egg to crab instar under laboratory conditions. Maximum period of egg incubation was noted to be 13 days. The larvae were reared through five meal and one megalopa stage to crab instar. It took a minimum of 17 days to complete all the meal stages and a minimum of 6 days to moult from megalop to crab stage. Effect of individual food items such as Chlorella salina, Artemia, Brachionus, microencapsulated feed and egg custard as well as their three combinations viz., combination of frozen Artemia nauplii, Brachionus and microencapsulated feed (Treatment A) combination of frozen Artemia nauplii, Brachionus Chlorella (Treatment B) and combination of Artemia nauplii suspension, Brachionus with an antibacterial chemical prefuran (Treatment C) on the development and survival of the larvae was also
