Coupled SDW and Superconducting Order in FFLO State of CeCoIn
The mechanism of incommensurate (IC) spin-density-wave (SDW) order observed
in the Flude-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase of CeCoIn is discussed
on the basis of new mode-coupling scheme among IC-SDW order, two
superconducting orders of FFLO with B () symmetry
and -pairing of odd-parity. Unlike the mode-coupling schemes proposed by
Kenzelmann et al, Sciencexpress, 21 August (2008), that proposed in the present
Letter can offer a simple explanation for why the IC-SDW order is observed only
in FFLO phase and the IC wave vector is rather robust against the magnetic
field.Comment: 3pages, 1 figure, accepted for publication in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn.,

Ultrahigh sensitivity of slow-light gyroscope
Slow light generated by Electromagnetically Induced Transparency is extremely
susceptible with respect to Doppler detuning. Consequently, slow-light
gyroscopes should have ultrahigh sensitivity
A Multi-Objective Optimization for Supply Chain Network Using the Bees Algorithm
A supply chain is a complex network which involves the products, services and information flows between suppliers and customers. A typical supply chain is composed of different levels, hence, there is a need to optimize the supply chain by finding the optimum configuration of the network in order to get a good compromise between the multi-objectives such as cost minimization and lead-time minimization. There are several multi-objective optimization methods which have been applied to find the optimum solutions set based on the Pareto front line. In this study, a swarm-based optimization method, namely, the bees algorithm is proposed in dealing with the multi-objective supply chain model to find the optimum configuration of a given supply chain problem which minimizes the total cost and the total lead-time. The supply chain problem utilized in this study is taken from literature and several experiments have been conducted in order to show the performance of the proposed model; in addition, the results have been compared to those achieved by the ant colony optimization method. The results show that the proposed bees algorithm is able to achieve better Pareto solutions for the supply chain problem
Infusion of donor leukocytes to induce tolerance in organ allograft recipients
To further enhance chimerism, 229 primary allograft recipients have received perioperative intravenous infusion of a single dose of 3 to 6 x 108 unmodified donor bone marrow (BM) cells/kg body weight. In addition, 42 patients have been accrued in a concurrent protocol involving multiple (up to three) sequential perioperative infusions of 2 x 108 BM cells/kg/day from day 0-2 posttransplantation (PTx). Organ recipients (n = 133) for whom BM was not available were monitored as controls. The infusion of BM was safe and except for 50 (18%), all study patients have optimal graft function. Of the control patients, allografts in 30 (23%) have been lost during the course of follow-up. The cumulative risk of acute cellular rejection (ACR) was statistically lower in the study patients compared with that of controls. It is interesting that, 62% of BM-augmented heart recipients were free of ACR (Grade ≥ 3A) in the first 6 months PTx compared to controls. The incidence of obliterative bronchiolitis was also statistically lower in study lung recipients (3.8%) compared with the contemporaneously acquired controls (31%). The levels of donor cell chimerism were at least a log higher in the peripheral blood of majority of the study patients compared with that of controls. The incidence of donor-specific hyporeactivity, as determined by one-way mixed leukocyte reaction, was also higher in those BM-augmented liver, kidney, and lung recipients that could be evaluated compared to controls
Implicit and explicit solvent models for the simulation of a single polymer chain in solution: Lattice Boltzmann vs Brownian dynamics
We present a comparative study of two computer simulation methods to obtain
static and dynamic properties of dilute polymer solutions. The first approach
is a recently established hybrid algorithm based upon dissipative coupling
between Molecular Dynamics and lattice Boltzmann (LB), while the second is
standard Brownian Dynamics (BD) with fluctuating hydrodynamic interactions.
Applying these methods to the same physical system (a single polymer chain in a
good solvent in thermal equilibrium) allows us to draw a detailed and
quantitative comparison in terms of both accuracy and efficiency. It is found
that the static conformations of the LB model are distorted when the box length
L is too small compared to the chain size. Furthermore, some dynamic properties
of the LB model are subject to an finite size effect, while the BD
model directly reproduces the asymptotic behavior. Apart from
these finite size effects, it is also found that in order to obtain the correct
dynamic properties for the LB simulations, it is crucial to properly thermalize
all the kinetic modes. Only in this case, the results are in excellent
agreement with each other, as expected. Moreover, Brownian Dynamics is found to
be much more efficient than lattice Boltzmann as long as the degree of
polymerization is not excessively large.Comment: 11 figures, submitted to J. Chem. Phy
Vision and perception of community on the use of recycled water for household laundry: A case study in Australia
This study investigates the community perception of household laundry as a new end use of recycled water in three different locations of Australia through a face to face questionnaire survey (n=478). The study areas were selected based on three categories of (1) non-user, (2) perspective user and (3) current user of recycled water. The survey results indicate that significantly higher number (70%) of the respondents supported the use of recycled water for washing machines (χ2=527.40, df=3; p=0.000). Significant positive correlation between the overall support for the new end use and the willingness of the respondents to use recycled water for washing machine was observed among all users groups (r=0.43, p=0.000). However, they had major concerns regarding the effects of recycled water on the aesthetic appearance of cloth, cloth durability, machine durability, odour of the recycled water and cost along with the health issues. The perspective user group had comparatively more reservations and concerns about the effects of recycled water on washing machines than the non-users and the current users (χ2=52.73, df=6; p=0.000). Overall, community from all three study areas are willing to welcome this new end use as long as all their major concerns are addressed and safety is assured. © 2013 Elsevier B.V
Charge carrier localization induced by excess Fe in the Fe1+y(Te,Se) superconductor system
We have investigated the effect of Fe nonstoichiometry on properties of the
Fe1+y(Te, Se) superconductor system by means of resistivity, Hall coefficient,
magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat measurements. We find that the
excess Fe at interstitial sites of the (Te, Se) layers not only suppresses
superconductivity, but also results in a weakly localized electronic state. We
argue that these effects originate from the magnetic coupling between the
excess Fe and the adjacent Fe square planar sheets, which favors a short-range
magnetic order.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures accepted for publication in PR
Nonfactorization and the decays and
In six chosen scenarios for the dependence of the form factors involved
in transition, we have determined the allowed domain

from semileptonic decays of favor solutions which have significant
nonfactorized contribution, and, in particular, favors solutions in
scenarios where is either flat or decreasing with .Comment: 15 pages, Latex, four figure (available on request)
