Pay Inequality in Turkey in the Neo-Liberal Era, 1980-2001
This paper examines pay inequality in Turkish manufacturing annually from 1980 to 2001. Using the between-group component of Theil's T statistic, we decompose the evolution of inequality by geographic region, province, sub-sector and by East-West distinction both for private and public sectors. The decompositions show that while inequality remains approximately the same between regions, it increases in the late 1980s in the private sector between provinces, between East and West, and as well as between manufacturing sub-sectors.Turkey, Inequality, Provinces, Sectors
The cohomology of the Lyons group and double covers of alternating groups
We compute the mod 2 cohomology of the sporadic simple group Ly as well as
that of the double covers of the alternating groups A_8 and A_10
Prognostics with autoregressive moving average for railway turnouts
Turnout systems are one of the most critical systems on railway infrastructure. Diagnostics and prognostics on turnout system have ability to increase the reliability & availability and reduce the downtime of the railway infrastructure. Even though diagnostics on railway turnout systems have been reported in the literature, reported studies on prognostics in railway turnout system is very sparse. This paper presents autoregressive moving average model based prognostics on railway turnouts. The model is applied to data collected from real turnout systems. The failure progression is obtained manually using the exponential degradation model. Remaining Useful Life of ten turnout systems have been reported and results are very promising
Representations and -theory of Discrete Groups
Let be a discrete group of finite virtual cohomological dimension
with certain finiteness conditions of the type satisfied by arithmetic groups.
We define a representation ring for , determined on its elements of
finite order, which is of finite type. Then we determine the contribution of
this ring to the topological -theory , obtaining an exact
formula for the difference in terms of the cohomology of the centralizers of
elements of finite order in .Comment: 4 page

A variational-fixed point iterative technique for the solution of second order differential equations
In this paper, we propose a variational-fixed point iteration technique for the solution of second order linear differential equations with two-point boundary value problems. The proposed method is endowed with the Galerkin method for the determination of the starting function. The numerical results show the validity and efficiency of the proposed method in comparison with the exact solution and other existing methods
A de Casteljau Algorithm for Bernstein type Polynomials based on (p; q)-integers
In this paper, a de Casteljau algorithm to compute (p; q)-Bernstein Bezier curves based on (p; q)- integers are introduced. The nature of degree elevation and degree reduction for (p; q)-Bezier Bernstein functions are studied. The new curves have some properties similar to q-Bezier curves. Moreover, we construct the corresponding tensor product surfaces over the rectangular domain (u; v) in [0; 1] x [0; 1] depending on four parameters. De Casteljau algorithm and degree evaluation properties of the surfaces for these generalization over the rectangular domain are investigated. Furthermore, some fundamental properties for (p; q)-Bernstein Bezier curves are discussed. We get q-Bezier curves and surfaces for (u; v) in [0; 1] x [0; 1] when we set the parameter p1 = p2 = 1: In comparison to q-Bezier curves based on q-Bernstein polynomials, this generalization gives us more flexibility in controlling the shapes of curves
On an unified reduction formula for Srivastava's triple hypergeometric series F(3)[x, y, z]
Very recently, by applying the so-called Beta integral method to the Henrici’s triple product formula for the generalized hypergeometric series, Choi, et al.[Commun. Korean Math. Soc. 28(2013), No.2, pp. 297-301] have obtained an interesting reduction formula for the Srivastava’s triple hypergeometric series F⁽ᶟ⁾[x,y,z]. The aim of this short note is to provide a unified reduction formula for the Srivastava’s triple hyper geometric series from which as many new reduction formulas (including the one obtained by Choi, etal.) as desired can be deduced. A few interesing special cases have also been given
