    Cocliques of maximal size in the prime graph of a finite simple group

    In this paper we continue our investgation of the prime graph of a finite simple group started in http://arxiv.org/abs/math/0506294 (the printed version appeared in [1]). We describe all cocliques of maximal size for all finite simple groups and also we correct mistakes and misprints from our previous paper.     Generation of focusing ion beams by magnetized electron sheath acceleration.

    We present the first 3D fully kinetic simulations of laser driven sheath-based ion acceleration with a kilotesla-level applied magnetic field. The application of a strong magnetic field significantly and beneficially alters sheath based ion acceleration and creates two distinct stages in the acceleration process associated with the time-evolving magnetization of the hot electron sheath. The first stage delivers dramatically enhanced acceleration, and the second reverses the typical outward-directed topology of the sheath electric field into a focusing configuration. The net result is a focusing, magnetic field-directed ion source of multiple species with strongly enhanced energy and number. The predicted improvements in ion source characteristics are desirable for applications and suggest a route to experimentally confirm magnetization-related effects in the high energy density regime. We additionally perform a comparison between 2D and 3D simulation geometry, on which basis we predict the feasibility of observing magnetic field effects under experimentally relevant conditions

    Axial magnetic effect in two-color quenched lattice QCD

    The Axial Magnetic Effect manifests itself as an equilibrium energy flow of massless fermions induced by the axial (chiral) magnetic field. Here we study the Axial Magnetic Effect in the quenched SU(2) lattice gauge theory with massless overlap fermions at finite temperature. We numerically observe that in the low-temperature hadron phase the effect is absent due to the quark confinement. In the high-temperature deconfinement phase the energy flow is an increasing function of the temperature which reaches the predicted asymptotic T2 behavior at high temperatures. We find, however, that energy flow is about one order of magnitude lower compared to a theoretical prediction

    The axial magnetic effect is the generation of an equilibrium dissipationless energy flow of chiral fermions in the direction of the axial (chiral) magnetic field. At finite temperature the dissipationless energy transfer may be realized in the absence of any chemical potentials. We numerically study the temperature behavior of the axial magnetic effect in quenched SUd2_ lattice gauge theory. We show that in the confinement (hadron) phase the effect is absent. In the deconfinement transition region the conductivity quickly increases, reaching the asymptotic T2 behavior in a deep deconfinement (plasma) phase. Apart from an overall proportionality factor, our results qualitatively agree with theoretical predictions for the behavior of the energy flow as a function of temperature and strength of the axial magnetic field

But it can also bring disaster to us and even can kill us through accidents.Speed is one of the most important and basic risk factors in driving.  It not only affects the severity of a crash, but also increases risk of being involved in a crash. Despite many efforts taken by different governmental and non-governmental organizations all around the world by various programs to aware against careless driving, yet accidents are taking place every now and then. However, many lives could have been saved if the emergency service could get the crashinformation in time. As such, efficient automatic accident detection with an automatic notification to the emergency service with the accident location is a prime need to save the precious human life. This paper proposes to utilize the capability of a GPS receiver and accelerometer to monitor the location of the vehicle and detect an accident basing on the tilt and send the location and time of the accident from the GPS data processed by a microcontroller by using the GSM network to the Police control room

    Once more on the Witten index of 3d supersymmetric YM-CS theory

    The problem of counting the vacuum states in the supersymmetric 3d Yang-Mills-Chern-Simons theory is reconsidered. We resolve the controversy between its original calculation by Witten at large volumes and the calculation based on the evaluation of the effective Lagrangian in the small volume limit. We show that the latter calculation suffers from uncertainties associated with the singularities in the moduli space of classical vacua where the Born-Oppenheimer approximation breaks down. We also show that these singularities can be accurately treated in the Hamiltonian Born-Oppenheimer method, where one has to match carefully the effective wave functions on the Abelian valley and the wave functions of reduced non-Abelian QM theory near the singularities. This gives the same result as original Witten's calculation.Comment: 27 page
