    Get PDF
Lipoma is one of the commonest benign mesenchymal tumor. It occurs with an incidence of 1% of the population. It is composed of fat cells of adult type. It may occur any where in the body, hence called Universal tumor or ubiquitous tumor. But lipomas with in the scrotum are rare and are included under para testicular or extra testicular tumors. To date, definite etiology of lipoma remains uncertain. One theory suggests cytokine release may trigger pre-adipocyte differentiation and maturation. Here we report a case of scrotal lipoma presented as a painless swelling in the scrotum

Border Alert System for Fishermen Using GPS System

The livelihood of fishermen is such that he crosses the country border unknowingly and poses threats to them by being killed or captured. The sea borders between countries are not easily identifiable which is the main reason behind this problem. ldquoBorder alert system for fisherman using GPSrdquo describes about a system which helps the fishermen by notifying the country border. Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global system for mobile communication (GSM) are used for this purpose. Here GPS receiver is used to find the current location of the fishing boat. Using GPS, present latitude and longitude values are sent to microcontroller unit. Later the controller unit identifies the current location by comparing the present latitude and longitudinal values with the predefined value. After the comparison, border alert system aware the fishermen that they are about to reach the nautical border. The region is divided into normal zone and warning zone. When the boat is in normal area, the LCD displays normal zone. Thus they can make it clear that the boat is in normal area. In case if it moves further and reaches the warning zone, the LCD displays warning zone

The usage of technical analysis in the crypto market is very popular among algorithmic traders. This involves the application of strategies based on technical indicators, which shoot BUY and SELL signals to help the investors to take trading decisions. However, instead of depending on the popular myths of the market, a proper empirical analysis can be helpful in lucrative endeavors in trading cryptocurrencies. In this work, four technical indicators namely Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), Bollinger Bands (BB), Relative Strength Index (RSI), and Parabolic Stop And Reverse (PSAR) are used individually to devise strategies that are implemented, and their performance is validated using the price data of Bitcoin from yahoo finance for 2018-22, individually for each year and all the five years consolidated to compute the performance metrics including Profit percentage, Net profitability percentage, and Number of total transactions. The results show that the performance of strategies based on trend indicators is better than that of momentum indicators where the EMA strategy provided the best result with a profit percentage of 394.13%. Further, the performance of these strategies is analyzed in three different market scenarios namely Uptrend/Bullish trend, Downtrend/Bearish trend, and Fluctuating/oscillating markets to analyze the applicability of each of these smart strategies in the three scenarios. Based on the insights obtained from the analysis, Hybrid strategies using multiple indicators with a hierarchical approach are developed whose performance is further improved by imposing constraints in a Downtrend market scenario. The novelty of these algorithms is that they identify the scenario in the market using multiple indicators in a hierarchal approach, and utilize appropriate indicators as per the market scenario. Four strategies namely, Multi indicator based Hierarchical Strategy (MIHS) with EMA9, Multi indicator based Hierarchical Strategy (MIHS) with EMA7, Multi-Indicator based Hierarchical Constrained Strategy (MIHCS) with EMA9, and Multi-Indicator based Hierarchical Constrained Strategy (MIHCS) with EMA7 are developed which give profit percentage of 154.45%, 437.48%, 256.31%, and 701.77% respectively when applied on the Bitcoin price data during 2018-22

A field study was conducted during rabi season of 2003-2004 to evaluate the potential of statice cultivars as cut flower crop in the field of Department of Floriculture and Landscape Gardening, K.R.C. College of Horticulture, Arabhavi. The experiment was laid out as a Randomised Block Design with four replications. The panicles of each variety were harvested when calycys of individual flower have mostly opened and showing colour. The cultivar Turbo White recorded maximum plant height (21.78 cm), panicle length (80.94 cm), stem diameter (0.61 cm), no. of leaves (186.60), maximum fresh weight of panicles (530.09 g/plant), plant spread 62.15 cm2 and remained superior over others. The results are in agreement with the findings of Angadi (2000) in China aster. Maximum panicle production per plant (25.64) was recorded in cv. Turbo White, which was on par with the cultivar Turbo Carmine (22.54). The results were in line with the findings of Kumar et al. (1998) in annual statice Turbo White. The cultivar Turbo White was good in quality parameters by recording maximum panicle length, girth and number of branches per panicle. It was also vigorous in vegetative growth. Therefore, the cultivar could produce better quality panicles and found to be suitable for semi arid regions

The genetic divergence of forty bitter gourd genotypes was studied for sixteen different parameters by adopting Mahalanobis D2 statistics using Tocher's method. The genotypes were grouped into six clusters irrespective of geographic divergence, indicating no parallelism between geographic and genetic diversity. A maximum of 32 genotypes entered in cluster I, followed by 4 genotypes in cluster II. The cluster III, IV, V and VI had single genotypes each. The maximum inter-cluster distance was obtained between cluster II and VI (1620.05) while minimum distance was between III and V (103.32). Cluster V followed by cluster VI showed superiority for yield and other desirable traits, which indicate the potentiality of these diverse genotype collection for providing basic material for future breeding programmes

Neutrino emission in neutron matter from magnetic moment interactions

Neutrino emission drives neutron star cooling for the first several hundreds of years after its birth. Given the low energy (\sim keV) nature of this process, one expects very few nonstandard particle physics contributions which could affect this rate. Requiring that any new physics contributions involve light degrees of freedom, one of the likely candidates which can affect the cooling process would be a nonzero magnetic moment for the neutrino. To illustrate, we compute the emission rate for neutrino pair bremsstrahlung in neutron-neutron scattering through photon-neutrino magnetic moment coupling. We also present analogous differential rates for neutrino scattering off nucleons and electrons that determine neutrino opacities in supernovae. Employing current upper bounds from collider experiments on the tau magnetic moment, we find that the neutrino emission rate can exceed the rate through neutral current electroweak interaction by a factor two, signalling the importance of new particle physics input to a standard calculation of relevance to neutron star cooling. However, astrophysical bounds on the neutrino magnetic moment imply smaller effects.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur

Quark Matter in Neutron Stars: An apercu

    Get PDF
The existence of deconfined quark matter in the superdense interior of neutron stars is a key question that has drawn considerable attention over the past few decades. Quark matter can comprise an arbitrary fraction of the star, from 0 for a pure neutron star to 1 for a pure quark star, depending on the equation of state of matter at high density. From an astrophysical viewpoint, these two extreme cases are generally expected to manifest different observational signatures. An intermediate fraction implies a hybrid star, where the interior consists of mixed or homogeneous phases of quark and nuclear matter, depending on surface and Coulomb energy costs, as well as other finite size and screening effects. In this brief review article, we discuss what we can deduce about quark matter in neutron stars in light of recent exciting developments in neutron star observations. We state the theoretical ideas underlying the equation of state of dense quark matter, including color superconducting quark matter. We also highlight recent advances stemming from re-examination of an old paradigm for the surface structure of quark stars and discuss possible evolutionary scenarios from neutron stars to quark stars, with emphasis on astrophysical observations.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure. Reciprocating sliding wear behavior of high-strength nanocrystalline Al84Ni7Gd6Co3 alloys

Nanocrystalline Al-Ni-Gd-Co alloys with exceptionally high hardness have been recently developed from amorphous precursors. In the present work, the reciprocating sliding wear in the gross slip regime of these novel nanocrystalline Al-based alloys has been investigated under small amplitude oscillatory sliding motion using a martensitic chrome steel as the counter material. When compared to pure Al or Al-12Si alloy, these nanocrystalline alloys exhibit excellent wear resistance and a lower coefficient of friction when sliding against steel. The enhanced wear resistance of the novel nanocrystaline Al alloys is related to their ultra-high hardness and the hybrid nanostructure that mainly consists of nanometric intermetallic phases embedded in a nanocrystalline fcc-Al matrix. Three body abrasive conditions were created at the initial stages of the wear tests due to the formation of micro- and nano-particulate debris from the worn surface of the Al alloys; the debris was compacted under the subsequent sliding cycles forming layers that are protective to the extensive wear of the Al alloys
