(g = e, #, ~) we observe four events, one e+e -~'7 and three #+ ~-??, with the invariant mass of the photon pairs close to 60 GeV. These events were selected from a data sample collected in the L3 detector corresponding to 950000 produced Z°'s. More data are necessary to ascertain the origin of these events

(T/E) PARITY NON-CONSERVATION IN INELASTIC ELECTRON SCATTERING*

We have measured parity violating asymmetries in the inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from deuterium and hydrogen. For deuterium near Q2 = 1.6 (GeV/c)2 the asymmetry is (-9.5 x 10m5) Q2 with statistical and, systematic uncertainties each about 10%. (Submitted to Phys. Lett.) *Work supported by the Dept. of Energ

Received 5 March 1991 We have searched for direct leptoquark production in Z ° decays from a scan of the Z ° resonance, in the energy range 88.2 ~< x/] ~< 94.2 GeV, using 5.2 pb-~ of data. We exclude the existence of scalar leptoquarks with masses less than 41 to 44 GeV, depending on the charge assignments, at the 95% confidence level

PHYSICS LETTERS 6 Physics Letters B 346 ( 1995) 190-198 Measurement of energetic single-photon production at LEP Abstract We describe the sample of energetic single-photon events (E, > 15 GeV) collected by L3 in the 1991-1993 LEP runs. The event distributions agree with expectations from the Standard Model. The data are used to constrain the ZZy coupling and to set an upper limit of 4.1 x 10-6p~ (90% CL.) on the the magnetic moment of the T neutrino

Both the measured jet energy distributions and the event orientation are reproduced by second order QCD. An alternative model with scalar gluons fails to describe the data

The measured inclusive momentum distribution can be reproduced by parton shower Monte Carlo programs and also by an analytical QCD calculation. Comparing our results with low energy e+e -data, we find that QCD describes both the shape and the energy evolution of the r/ spectrum. The comparison of q production rates in quark-and gluon-enriched jet samples does not show statistically significant evidence for more abundant production of q mesons in gluon fragmentation. l Deceased. 2 Supported by the German Forschung und Technologie. A major new initiative, aimed at improving our general standard of health, is being launched today, Monday 13th of June by four government ministers with a consultation day with public health professionals, relevant departments and agencies, academics, community and voluntary organisations and others taking place in the Royal College of Physicians, Kildare Street, Dublin 2. Dr James Reilly, Minister for Health, will be joined by Frances Fitzgerald, the Minister for Children, and Ministers of State; Róisín Shortall and Kathleen Lynch at this important event in Dublin city centre which will lead to the development of a new public health policy. The new policy, once published, will set out the Government’s long-term vision for the health and well-being of the population. The aim is to help people live healthier and more fulfilling lives and to create social conditions that ensure good health, on equal terms for the entire population. On the topic of the harm caused by alcohol misuse in Ireland, Minister of State with Responsibility for Primary Care Róisín Shortall said “A sustained multi-sectoral approach to the alcohol epidemic, backed by a strong political and societal consensus, is required to reduce alcohol consumption levels” . She also emphasized the central role that primary care services will play in prevention and treatment of chronic diseases
