Understanding the fabrication mechanism of graphitic carbon nitride (gC3N4) nanostructures is critical for tailoring their physicochemical properties for various catalytic applications. In this article, we provide deep insights into the optimized parameters for the rational synthesis of one-dimensional gC3N4 atomically doped with Pd and Cu denoted as (Pd/Cu/gC3N4NTs) and its fabrication mechanism. This is in addition to the CO oxidation durability along with the electrochemical and photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction durability of Pd/Cu/gC3N4NTs. The presented herein results are correlated to the research article entitled “Precise Fabrication of Porous One-dimensional gC3N4 Nanotubes Doped with Pd and Cu Atoms for Efficient CO Oxidation and CO2 Reduction (Kamel Eid et al., 2019).This publication was supported by Qatar university Grant No. IRCC 179 . Nanoengineered Curie Temperature in Laterally-Patterned Ferromagnetic Semiconductor Heterostructures

We demonstrate the manipulation of the Curie temperature of buried layers of the ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As using nanolithography to enhance the effect of annealing. Patterning the GaAs-capped ferromagnetic layers into nanowires exposes free surfaces at the sidewalls of the patterned (Ga,Mn)As layers and thus allows the removal of Mn interstitials using annealing. This leads to an enhanced Curie temperature and reduced resistivity compared to unpatterned samples. For a fixed annealing time, the enhancement of the Curie temperature is larger for narrower nanowires.Comment: Submitted to Applied Physics Letters (minor corrections

Analytical and stability studies on medical cosmetics

    Get PDF
Two simple and sensitive spectrofluorimetric (method Ι) and spectrophotometric (method ΙΙ) methods have been developed for the determination of some chloride containing toothpastes and panthenol-containing cosmetic preparations respectively. Method Ι is based on quantitative fluorescence quenching of (terbium-salicylate-hexamine ternary complex) by fluoride which could be measured at λem/λex of 547nm/322nm. The ∆Fconcentration plot was rectilinear over the concentration range of 0.5-20 µg/ml. Method ΙΙ depends reaction of panthenol with nitrobenzoxadiazole chloride (NBD-Cl) and measuring the absorbance of the resultant product at 480nm. The absorbance- concentration plot was rectilinear over the concentration range of 2-20 µg/m

An Observational Pursuit for Population III Stars in a Ly_alpha Emitter at z=6.33 through HeII Emission

We present a very deep near-infrared spectroscopic observation of a strong Ly_alpha emitter at z=6.33, SDF J132440.6+273607, which we used to search for HeII 1640. This emission line is expected if the target hosts a significant number of population III stars. Even after 42 ksec of integration with the Subaru/OHS spectrograph, no emission-line features are detected in the JH band, which confirms that SDF J132440.6+273607 is neither an active galactic nucleus nor a low-zz emission-line object. We obtained a 2sigma upper-limit of 9.06e-18 ergs/s/cm^2 on the HeII 1640 emission line flux, which corresponds to a luminosity of 4.11e42 ergs/s. This upper-limit on the HeII 1640 luminosity implies that the upper limit on population III star-formation rate is in the range 4.9--41.2 M_sun/yr if population III stars suffer no mass loss, and in the range 1.8--13.2 M_sun/yr if strong mass loss is present. The non-detection of HeII in SDF J132440.6+273607 at z=6.33 may thus disfavor weak feedback models for population III stars.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures, to appear in The Astrophysical Journal Letter

However, the respirable particles must have a diameter of 1–5 µm in order to deposit in the lungs. Controlled agglomeration of the nanoparticles increases their geometric particle size so they can deposit easily in the lungs. In the lungs, they fall apart to reform nanoparticles, thus enhancing the dissolution rate of the drugs. Theophylline is a bronchodilator with poor solubility in water. Methods: Nanosized theophylline colloids were formed using an amphiphilic surfactant and destabilized using dilute sodium chloride solutions to form the agglomerates. Results: The theophylline nanoparticles thus obtained had an average particle size of 290 nm and a zeta potential of −39.5 mV, whereas the agglomerates were 2.47 µm in size with a zeta potential of −28.9 mV. The release profile was found to follow first-order kinetics (r2 > 0.96). The aerodynamic characteristics of the agglomerated nanoparticles were determined using a cascade impactor. The behavior of the agglomerate was significantly better than unprocessed raw theophylline powder. In addition, the nanoparticles and agglomerates resulted in a significant improvement in the dissolution of theophylline. Conclusion: The results obtained lend support to the hypothesis that controlled agglomeration strategies provide an efficient approach for the delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs into the lungs. Keywords: theophylline, nanoparticles, agglomerates, dry powder inhale

Assertiveness and Stress among Undergraduate Nursing Students at Menoufyia University

Assertiveness has emerged as an effective moderator of stress for the nursing student population. Being assertive means that you express yourself effectively and stand up for your point of view, while also respecting the rights and beliefs of others. Stress is the emotional and physical response you experience when you perceive an imbalance between demands placed on you and your resources at a time when coping is important .The aim of this study was to assess assertiveness and stress levels among second year and fourth nursing students at Meofiya University. Design: descriptive comparative research design was used. Setting: Study was carried out at Nursing College, Meofiya University. Subjects of the study were (176) students from second year and (141) students from fourth year. Three tools for data collection were used: (1) questionnaire for socio demographic data. (2) Assertiveness behavior scale (Clarck and Shea 1979). (3) Student nurse stress index (SNSI) (Jones and Johnston, 1999).  The findings indicated that second year nursing students have higher mean scores of assertiveness than fourth year students. Highest percentage of both groups reported high level of stress.  There was a statistical significant positive correlation between assertiveness and stress levels. In conclusion the results of this study revealed that both assertiveness and stress levels were higher among both academic years' students. That indicated a positive correlation between assertiveness and stress levels.  Recommendations: Introduction of specific courses aiming to enhance the acquisition of assertiveness skills, including stress management and coping strategies in curricula. Role play and role model are important in facing stress and being assertiveness. Future research is needed to large number of students. Key words: Assertiveness, stress and nursing student

Novel enzyme-free multifunctional bentonite/polypyrrole/silver nanocomposite sensor for hydrogen peroxide detection over a wide pH range

    Get PDF
Precise designs of low-cost and efficient catalysts for the detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) over wide ranges of pH are important in various environmental applications. Herein, a versatile and ecofriendly approach is presented for the rational design of ternary bentonite-silylpropyl-polypyrrole/silver nanoarchitectures (denoted as BP-PS-PPy/Ag) via the in-situ photo polymerization of pyrrole with salinized bentonite (BP-PS) in the presence of silver nitrate. The Pyrrolyl-functionalized silane (PS) is used as a coupling agent for tailoring the formation of highly exfoliated BP-PS-PPy sheet-like nanostructures ornamented with monodispersed Ag nanoparticles (NPs). Taking advantage of the combination between the unique physicochemical properties of BP-PS-PPy and the outstanding catalytic merits of Ag nanoparticles (NPs), the as-synthesized BP-PS-PPy/Ag shows a superior electrocatalytic reduction and high-detection activity towards H2O2 under different pH conditions (from 3 to 10). Intriguingly, the UV-light irradiation significantly enhances the electroreduction activity of H2O2 substantially, compared with the dark conditions, due to the high photoelectric response properties of Ag NPs. Moreover, BP-PS-PPy/Ag achived a quick current response with a detection limit at 1 μM within only 1 s. Our present approach is green, facile, scalable and renewabl

Equation of state for β\beta-stable hot nuclear matter

We provide an equation of state for hot nuclear matter in β\beta-equilibrium by applying a momentum-dependent effective interaction. We focus on the study of the equation of state of high-density and high-temperature nuclear matter, containing leptons (electrons and muons) under the chemical equilibrium condition in which neutrinos have left the system. The conditions of charge neutrality and equilibrium under β\beta-decay process lead first to the evaluation of proton and lepton fractions and afterwards of internal energy, free energy, pressure and in total to the equation of state of hot nuclear matter. Thermal effects on the properties and equation of state of nuclear matter are assesed and analyzed in the framework of the proposed effective interaction model. Special attention is dedicated to the study of the contribution of the components of β\beta-stable nuclear matter to the entropy per particle, a quantity of great interest for the study of structure and collapse of supernova.Comment: 28 pages, 18 figure
