\Omb \rightarrow \Omc , \Omc ^* $ transitions: Model-independent bounds on invariant form factors
In this note we report some model-independent bounds involving transition
form factors for \Omb \rightarrow \Omc and \Omb \rightarrow \Omc ^* and
the nonperturbative matrix elements of the \Omb system. They are derived by
using operator product expansion (OPE) in Heavy Quark Effective Theory .Comment: Latex, 7 page
Spin configurations in Co2FeAl0.4Si0.6 Heusler alloy thin film elements
We determine experimentally the spin structure of half-metallic
Co2FeAl0.4Si0.6 Heusler alloy elements using magnetic microscopy. Following
magnetic saturation, the dominant magnetic states consist of quasi-uniform
configurations, where a strong influence from the magnetocrystalline anisotropy
is visible. Heating experiments show the stability of the spin configuration of
domain walls in confined geometries up to 800 K. The switching temperature for
the transition from transverse to vortex walls in ring elements is found to
increase with ring width, an effect attributed to structural changes and
consequent changes in magnetic anisotropy, which start to occur in the narrower
elements at lower temperatures.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Two-loop Anomalous Dimensions of Heavy Baryon Currents in Heavy Quark Effective Theory
We present results on the two-loop anomalous dimensions of the heavy baryon
HQET currents with arbitrary Dirac matrices
and . From our general result we obtain the two-loop
anomalous dimensions for currents with quantum numbers of the ground state
heavy baryons , and . As a by-product of our
calculation and as an additional check we rederive the known two-loop anomalous
dimensions of mesonic scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial vector and tensor
currents in massless QCD as well as in HQET.Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX, 2 figures are included in PostScript forma
Lattice-Boltzmann Method for Geophysical Plastic Flows
We explore possible applications of the Lattice-Boltzmann Method for the
simulation of geophysical flows. This fluid solver, while successful in other
fields, is still rarely used for geotechnical applications. We show how the
standard method can be modified to represent free-surface realization of
mudflows, debris flows, and in general any plastic flow, through the
implementation of a Bingham constitutive model. The chapter is completed by an
example of a full-scale simulation of a plastic fluid flowing down an inclined
channel and depositing on a flat surface. An application is given, where the
fluid interacts with a vertical obstacle in the channel.Comment: in W. Wu, R.I. Borja (Edts.) Recent advances in modelling landslides

Exclusive semileptonic B decays to radially excited D mesons
Exclusive semileptonic B decays to radially excited charmed mesons are
investigated at the first order of the heavy quark expansion. The arising
leading and subleading Isgur-Wise functions are calculated in the framework of
the relativistic quark model. It is found that the 1/m_Q corrections play an
important role and substantially modify results. An interesting interplay
between different corrections is found. As a result the branching ratio for the
B-> D'e\nu decay is essentially increased by 1/m_Q corrections, while the one
for B-> D*'e\nu is only slightly influenced by them.Comment: 19 pages, revtex, 6 figures, uses rotating.st
First order radiative corrections to Bhabha scattering in dimensions
The luminosity measurement at the projected International Linear
Collider ILC is planned to be performed with forward Bhabha scattering with an
accuracy of the order of . A theoretical prediction of the
differential cross-section has to include one-loop weak corrections, with
leading higher order terms, and the complete two-loop QED corrections. Here, we
present the weak part and the virtual one-loop photonic corrections. For the
photonic corrections, the expansions in are derived with
inclusion of the terms of order in order to match the two-loop
accuracy. For the photonic box master integral in dimensions we compare
several different methods of evaluation.Comment: 35 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables, uses feynmp.sty, references update
Critical behavior of the random-anisotropy model in the strong-anisotropy limit
We investigate the nature of the critical behavior of the random-anisotropy
Heisenberg model (RAM), which describes a magnetic system with random uniaxial
single-site anisotropy, such as some amorphous alloys of rare earths and
transition metals. In particular, we consider the strong-anisotropy limit
(SRAM), in which the Hamiltonian can be rewritten as the one of an Ising
spin-glass model with correlated bond disorder. We perform Monte Carlo
simulations of the SRAM on simple cubic L^3 lattices, up to L=30, measuring
correlation functions of the replica-replica overlap, which is the order
parameter at a glass transition. The corresponding results show critical
behavior and finite-size scaling. They provide evidence of a finite-temperature
continuous transition with critical exponents and
. These results are close to the corresponding estimates that
have been obtained in the usual Ising spin-glass model with uncorrelated bond
disorder, suggesting that the two models belong to the same universality class.
We also determine the leading correction-to-scaling exponent finding .Comment: 24 pages, 13 figs, J. Stat. Mech. in pres
Decuplet Baryon Structure from Lattice QCD
The electromagnetic properties of the SU(3)-flavor baryon decuplet are
examined within a lattice simulation of quenched QCD. Electric charge radii,
magnetic moments, and magnetic radii are extracted from the E0 and M1 form
factors. Preliminary results for the E2 and M3 moments are presented giving the
first model independent insight to the shape of the quark distribution in the
baryon ground state. As in our octet baryon analysis, the lattice results give
evidence of spin-dependent forces and mass effects in the electromagnetic
properties. The quark charge distribution radii indicate these effects act in
opposing directions. Some baryon dependence of the effective quark magnetic
moments is seen. However, this dependence in decuplet baryons is more subtle
than that for octet baryons. Of particular interest are the lattice predictions
for the magnetic moments of and for which new recent
experimental measurements are available. The lattice prediction of the
ratio appears larger than the experimental ratio, while the
lattice prediction for the magnetic moment ratio is in good
agreement with the experimental ratio.Comment: RevTeX manuscript, 34 pages plus 21 figures (available upon request
Top Production in Hadron-Hadron Collisions and Anomalous Top-Gluon Couplings
We discuss the influence of anomalous tbar-t-G couplings on total and
differential tbar-t production cross sections in hadron-hadron collisions. We
study in detail the effects of a chromoelectric and a chromomagnetic dipole
moment, d' and \mu', of the top quark. In the d'-\mu' plane, we find a whole
region where the anomalous couplings give a zero net contribution to the total
top production rate. In differential cross sections, the anomalous moments have
to be quite sizable to give measurable effects. We estimate the values of d'
and \mu' which are allowed by the present Tevatron experimental results on top
production. A chromoelectric dipole moment of the top violates CP invariance.
We discuss a simple CP-odd observable which allows for a direct search for CP
violation in top production.Comment: footnote pg. 4 changed, acknowledgments extende
