GeoDeformer: Geometric Deformable Transformer for Action Recognition
Vision transformers have recently emerged as an effective alternative to
convolutional networks for action recognition. However, vision transformers
still struggle with geometric variations prevalent in video data. This paper
proposes a novel approach, GeoDeformer, designed to capture the variations
inherent in action video by integrating geometric comprehension directly into
the ViT architecture. Specifically, at the core of GeoDeformer is the Geometric
Deformation Predictor, a module designed to identify and quantify potential
spatial and temporal geometric deformations within the given video. Spatial
deformations adjust the geometry within individual frames, while temporal
deformations capture the cross-frame geometric dynamics, reflecting motion and
temporal progression. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, we
incorporate it into the established MViTv2 framework, replacing the standard
self-attention blocks with GeoDeformer blocks. Our experiments at UCF101,
HMDB51, and Mini-K200 achieve significant increases in both Top-1 and Top-5
accuracy, establishing new state-of-the-art results with only a marginal
increase in computational cost. Additionally, visualizations affirm that
GeoDeformer effectively manifests explicit geometric deformations and minimizes
geometric variations. Codes and checkpoints will be released.Comment: Including geometric transformations into Vi
Krüppel-like factor 8 promotes aerobic glycolysis in prostate cancer cells by regulating AKT/mTOR signaling pathway
Purpose: To investigate the effects of Krüppel-like factor 8 (KLF8) in prostate cancer (PCa) cell viability and glycolysis, and explore its role as a regulatory factor. Methods: Immunoblot assays were conducted to assess the expression of KLF8 and proteins in AKT/mTOR pathway in PCa cell lines PC-3 and DU145. Cell Counting Kit-8 assays were performed to assess the effect of KLF8 on PCa cell viability. The glycolysis capacity of PCa cells was determined by measuring the levels of glucose intake, lactic acid production, and cellular ATP levels. Results: Depletion of KLF8 decreased the survival of PCa cells in vitro (p < 0.05). KLF8 depletion also inhibited aerobic glucose metabolism in PCa cells (p < 0.05). Further studies confirmed that KLF8 contributed to the growth and glycolysis of PCa cells via the regulation of AKT/mTOR pathway. Conclusion: KLF8 regulates glycolysis in PCa cells by regulating AKT/mTOR signaling pathway and is thus a promising therapeutic target for PCa treatment.

catena-Poly[[aquadipyridinecopper(II)]-μ-fumarato]
The title compound, [Cu(C4H2O4)(C5H5N)2(H2O)]n, is a one-dimensional coordination polymer based on pyridine and fumarate ligands. Each CuII cation is coordinated by two carboxylate O atoms belonging to two fumarate anions, two N atoms from two pyridine molecules and one water molecule, in a square-based pyramidal geometry. Each fumarate anion bridges two CuII cations through the two carboxylate groups in a bis-monodentate fashion to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain along the c axis. Neighbouring chains are linked together to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane via hydrogen bonding interactions between uncoordinated carboxylate O atoms and coordinated water molecules of adjecent chains
Examining the safety of mirabegron: an analysis of real-world pharmacovigilance data from the US FDA adverse event reporting system (FAERS) database
Background: Mirabegron, the first β-3 adrenergic receptor agonist, received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2012 for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). This pharmacovigilance study investigated the safety profile of mirabegron treatment using the US FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database. Methods: This study employed disproportionality analyses, including the reporting odds ratio (ROR) and Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network (BCPNN) algorithm, to quantify signals of adverse events associated with mirabegron. Results: From the first quarter of 2012 to the third quarter of 2023, a comprehensive total of 14,356,234 adverse event (AE) reports were submitted to the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database. Within this dataset, encompassing 18,763 reports specifically associated with mirabegron, healthcare professionals notably contributed 2,902 of these reports. A total of 80 preferred terms (PTs) of interest were identified using both the ROR and information component algorithms. The most common AEs included blood pressure increased, urinary retention, atrial fibrillation, dry mouth, and tachycardia, which were consistent with the product instructions. Unexpected significant AEs, such as arrhythmia, palpitations, dementia, transient ischemic attack, Parkinson’s disease, anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody positive vasculitis, lip swelling, and swollen tongue, were also identified. The study findings indicated that the majority of onset time occurred within 30 days (n = 358, 55.68%). However, AEs were still possible after 1 year of mirabegron treatment. Conclusion: This study provided valuable evidence for the real-world safety of mirabegron, helping clinical professionals enhance their understanding of mirabegron’s safety in clinical practice. It also contributed valuable evidence for further safety studies on mirabegron
Analysis of Density Wave Oscillations in Helically Coiled Tube Once-Through Steam Generator
Helically coiled tube Once-Through Steam Generator (H-OTSG) is one of the key equipment types for small modular reactors. The flow instability of the secondary side of the H-OTSG is particularly serious, because the working condition is in the range of low and medium pressure. This paper presents research on density wave oscillations (DWO) in a typical countercurrent H-OTSG. Based on the steady-state calculation, the mathematical model of single-channel system was established, and the transfer function was derived. Using Nyquist stability criterion of the single variable, the stability cases were studied with an in-house computer program. According to the analyses, the impact law of the geometrical parameters to the system stability was obtained. RELAP5/MOD3.2 code was also used to simulate DWO in H-OTSG. The theoretical analyses of the in-house program were compared to the simulation results of RELAP5. A correction factor was introduced to reduce the error of RELAP5 when modeling helical geometry. The comparison results agreed well which showed that the correction is effective
rac-7,7′,9,9′-Tetraphenyl-9a,9a′-bi(7,8,9,9a-tetrahydro-6aH-pentaleno[1,2,3-ij]naphthalen-8-one)
The racemic title compound, C54H38O2, consists of two C-linked pentaleno[1,2,3-ij]naphthalenone moieties, the crowded aryl ring substitution on the cyclopentane rings forcing the two segments to assume a conformation which has pseudo-twofold rotational symmetry, with a dihedral angle between the naphthalene substituent groups of 55.30 (8)°. In each segment, the two phenyl rings have different conformational orientations, with inter-ring dihedral angles of 34.7 (2) and 49.63 (16)°. Each cyclopentane ring has the same relative configuration in its four chiral centres and together with the fused naphthalene ring assumes an overall chair-like conformation
