    GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS IN TEACHING READING AT THE TENTH GRADE OF SMA MUHAMMADIYAH WAY JEPARA

    This research focuses on finding out the improvement of the students’ reading skill at the Tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah Way Jepara through graphic organizers. Classroom action research (CAR) was implemented in this research which was conducted to solve the students’ problem in English reading. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) was done based on Kemmis and McTaggart’s design. The researcher did two cycle in which each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The finding of the research indicated that the implementation of graphic organizers was successful since the criteria of success were achieved. The first criterion was 70 % of students could pass the target score 70 based on the KKM. Based on the calculation on table 1, it is known that the mean score of pretest that consist of 32 students is 6.92 and the posttest is 8.27, in other words, it can be said that the use of graphic organizers is effective to improve students' reading comprehension.This research focuses on finding out the improvement of the students’ reading skill at the Tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah Way Jepara through graphic organizers.     ABSTRACTThis article points out the results of the study attempting to solve the speaking problem faced by students in one of the Higher School of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) in Central Lampung. For the purpose of the topic, 30 fellow students were selected as the subject. Research method was Classroom Action Research with Kemmis and Taggart model. It was conducted for about four cycles. According to the results of speaking test, findings showed that using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) had positive meaningful effect on improving students’ speaking skill.     AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ANXIETY TOWARD THEIR SPEAKING SKILL

    This article points out the results of the study attempting to analyze the students speaking anxiety at students in one of the College of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) in Lampung. For the purpose of the topic, 28 fellow students were selected as the sample. Research method was quasi-experimental design with two way ANOVA. It was conducted for about four months. According to the results of speaking test, findings showed that using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) had positive meaningful effect on improving students’ speaking skill viewed from different speaking anxiety. To sum up, CLT is an effective method to teach students’ speaking skill viewed from different speaking anxiety

    An Analysis Of The Potency And Opportunities For The Youth Participation In The Development Of Wiyono Village District Pesawaran Lampung

    This research is an exploratory study that wants to study the role of youth in village development in Wiyono Village, Gedong Tataan District, Pesawaran Regency. The research is based on the background of the fact that Wiyono Village is a City Village that has many facilities with relatively advanced population, but is still a developing village, not a fast developing village. This is interesting to study to find out what causes it. The research population was all village youths with 32 people drawn from eight hamlets in Wiyono Village. The study was conducted with an exploratory approach using qualitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the potential of Wiyono Village youth was in the high category with a score of 4, while the level of youth participation in village development was in a moderate position with a score of 3. The main cause of the lack of optimal youth participation was the lack of communication between the village government and the youth

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING PODCAST IN TEACHING LISTENING COMPREHENSION VIEWED FROM STUDENTS’ LISTENING HABIT(An Experimental Research at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Way Jepara)

    The objectives of this research are to find out whether: (1) podcast is more effective than movie to teach listening comprehension; (2) students having high listening habit have better listening comprehension than those having low listening habit; (3) there is any interaction effect between teaching media and different listening habit on the students’ listening comprehension. For the purpose of the topic, three groups of students consisting of eighty four were cluster randomly selected and were divided into two groups of twenty eight as the experimental and control class. Research method was quasi-experimental. The instruments were multiple choice test and questionnaire. Both groups were taught in the same style. Before the instruments were used, a tryout had been administered to know the validity and reliability of the instruments. Furthermore, it was found out that the data were in normal distribution and homogeneous based on the normality testing and homogeneity testing. The researcher analyzed the listening test scores of students who had high and low listening habit in both groups. Multifactor Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test were applied with the level of significance α =0.05. The results of the test and the related comparisons, findings showed that: (1) podcast is more effective than movie to teach listening comprehension; (2) students having high listening habit have better listening comprehension than those having low listening habit; (2) there is interaction effect between teaching media and different listening habit on the students’ listening comprehension. To sum up, podcast is an effective media to teach listening to the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Way Jepara, in the academic year 2014/2015. However, in the implementation of the media, a teacher must consider about the students’ level of listening habit. As proved in the research, listening habit influences the students’ listening comprehension. By considering the students’ level of listening habit, a teacher can choose the media he/she uses properly to teach listening in order to improve students’ listening comprehension.
