An analysis of modern technologies of drying of coals with high content of volatile.

The problem of ocean pollution is one of the most important and relevant. Is it possible to solve it in modern conditions? The ocean, as you know, is the basis of all life on our planet. After all, it appeared the first living organisms in our geological history. Oceans occupy more than 70% of the planet's surface. In addition, it contains about 95% of all water. That's why the pollution of the waters of the World ocean is so dangerous to the geographical envelope of the planet. And today this problem is becoming more acute

Internal jugular vein thrombosis presenting as a painful neck mass due to a spontaneous dislocated subclavian port catheter as long-term complication: a case report

    Get PDF
Central venous access devices are extensively used for long-term chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition. However, there are some possible immediate, early, and late complications related to the implantation technique, care, and maintenance. We present the uncommon occurrence of a thrombosis of the internal jugular vein due to a spontaneous migration of a Port-A-Cath catheter into the ipsilateral internal jugular vein as a delayed complication of a central venous access catheter implanted for chemotherapy delivery. A review of the literature is given, and the factors responsible for this unusual complication will be discussed

Developing effective catalyst for mine methane conversion to hydrogen-containing gas

    Get PDF
The Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y] and Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y]/Al[2]O[3] catalysts (x=0-1) were prepared for the mine methane conversion to hydrogen-containing gas. The influence of the support composition on the physicochemical characteristics of the catalysts and their activity in autothermal reforming of methane (ATR of CH[4]) was studied. It was shown that the dispersion of the Ni active component was enhanced with growth of molar ratio of La in the support composition that leads to the increase in catalyst stability in ATR of CH[4]. The Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y]/Al[2]O[3] catalysts in comparison to the Ni/Ce[1]-xLa[x]O[y] provide higher H[2] yield: at 850oC it is equal to 65-75%

Extended Distal Pancreatectomy with En Bloc Resection of the Celiac Axis for Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

    Get PDF
Due to a lack of early symptoms, pancreatic cancers of the body and tail are discovered mostly at advanced stages. These locally advanced cancers often involve the celiac axis or the common hepatic artery and are therefore declared unresectable. The extended distal pancreatectomy with en bloc resection of the celiac artery may offer a chance of complete resection. We present the case of a 48-year-old female with pancreatic body cancer invading the celiac axis. The patient underwent laparoscopy to exclude hepatic and peritoneal metastasis. Subsequently, a selective embolization of the common hepatic artery was performed to enlarge arterial flow to the hepatobiliary system and the stomach via the pancreatoduodenal arcades from the superior mesenteric artery. Fifteen days after embolization, the extended distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy and en bloc resection of the celiac axis was carried out. The postoperative course was uneventful, and complete tumor resection was achieved. This case report and a review of the literature show the feasibility and safety of the extended distal pancreatectomy with en bloc resection of the celiac axis. A preoperative embolization of the celiac axis may avoid ischemia-related complications of the stomach or the liver

The Snail genes as inducers of cell movement and survival: implications in development and cancer

11 pages, 5 figures.-- PMID: 15983400 [PubMed].-- Printed version published Jul 2005.Full-text version available Open Access at the journal site. The functions of the Snail family of zinc-finger transcription factors are essential during embryonic development. One of their best-known functions is to induce epithelial to mesenchymal transitions (EMTs), which convert epithelial cells into migratory mesenchymal cells. In recent years, many orthologues of the Snail family have been identified throughout the animal kingdom, and their study is providing new clues about the EMT-dependent and -independent functions of Snail proteins. Here, we discuss these functions and how they influence cell behaviour during development and during diseases such as metastatic cancer. From these findings, we propose that Snail genes act primarily as survival factors and inducers of cell movement, rather than as inducers of EMT or cell fate.We are grateful to all members of M. A.
