    Pythiosis in horses is a proliferative and ulcerative disease that primarily affects the skin and subcutaneous tissue of limbs, thoracic-abdominal region and head. This disease sometimes can also affect limb bones or cause tumoral masses in abdomen. Usually, the cutaneous cases are confused with habronemiasis. The disease is more common in marshy areas, places with formation of slow drainage ponds and aquatic vegetation under high temperatures. The aim of this study was to describe the development of facial lesions in a horse caused by pythiosis in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, and, additionally to discuss relevant issues regarding the diagnosis, clinical course and response to immunotherapy treatment.Publicação 955.     Viable black hole solution in Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics

    Following a recent approach in which the gravitational field equations in curved spacetimes were presented in the Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics, we obtained an approximate and spherically symmetric black hole solution in this context. The calculations were carried out up to the linear approximation in both the spacetime geometry and the radial electric field. The solution presents a new parameter, that comes from the Lagrangian of the model, but even so it is in agreement with the the no-hair conjecture. Moreover, the black hole presented here is viable when its shadow is compared to the Sagittarius A* shadow, recently revealed by the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. Because of this, its sensing is indispensable for the diagnosis of many diseases. Among the materials used for the detection and quantification of H2O2, Prussian Blue (PB) has been highlighted due to its performance. Therefore, the search for alternatives or the improvement of PB performance is a challenge. In this context, our motivation was to evaluate how the ligand N-methylpyrazinium affects the structure and reactivity of Prussian Blue films produced from [Fe(CN)(5)(mpz)](2-) (PB-mpz). Based on the results, it was possible to conclude that the ligand is coordinated to the complex inside the PB framework and consequently contributes to the generation of a noncrystalline structure. The ions contained in buffer solutions can react with Prussian Blue by binding to Fe3+ and breaking the structure.     A structure-based site-directed mutagenesis study on the neurolysin (EC 3.4.24.16) and thimet oligopeptidase (EC 3.4.24.15) catalysis

    Neurolysin (EP24.16) and thimet oligopeptidase (EP24.15) are closely related metalloendopeptidases. Site-directed mutagenesis of Tyr(613) (EP24.16) or Tyr(612) (EP24.15) to either Phe or Ala promoted a strong reduction of k(cat)/K-M for both enzymes. These data suggest the importance of both hydroxyl group and aromatic ring at this specific position during substrate hydrolysis by these peptidases. Furthermore, the EP24.15 A607G mutant showed a k(cat)/K-M of 2x10(5) M-1 s(-1) for the Abz-GFSIFRQ-EDDnp substrate, similar to that of EP24.16 (k(cat)/K-M = 3x10(5) M-1 s(-1)) which contains Gly at the corresponding position; the wild type EP24.15 has a k(cat)/K-M of 2.5x10(4) M-1 s(-1) for this substrate.     Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal resgatar o conhecimento empírico sobre o sistema de criação tradicional de ovinos no Pantanal, caracterizando-o e descrevendo-o a partir de oito fazendas da sub-região da Nhecolândia, Pantanal, MS. Devido a crescente demanda do mercado por carne ovina, os produtores do Pantanal podem diversificar a produção animal. A região apresenta potencial para a produção de ovelhas pantaneiras para cruzamentos no planalto, produção de cordeiros (orgânicos), produção de subsistência da fazenda, entre outros.
