    The scrapbook contains clippings, leaflets, brochures, correspondence, and photographs from ca. 1930 to 1957, covering the education and early careers of Walter Plaut and his wife Hadassah, née Yanich.Interspersed with clippings, photographs and correspondence are publications from synagogues, colleges and various Jewish organizations, like Beth Jacob in Cincinnati, Ohio; Hadassah; Hashomer Hatzair ; Hebrew Union College; Herzl Camp in Webster, Wisconsin; Mount Zion Temple in St. Paul; Temple Emanuel in Duluth, Minnesota ; University of Michigan; Wayne University; and others.digitizedWalter H.     This collection consists mainly of correspondence, manuscripts and other documents pertaining to the death of Rabbi Walter Plaut on January 3, 1964. Most of the condolences are addressed to his widow Hadassah Plaut from his colleagues, congregants, students, and many others.     Various materials pertaining mainly to Joshua Plaut’s father, Rabbi Walter H. Plaut, and to Joshua Plaut’s grandfather, Rabbi Jonas Plaut. In addition there are 11 homemade videos of reunions and celebrations of various members of the Plaut family.Series I contains handwritten and typed notes, manuscripts and sermons of Rabbi Walter Plaut, covering aprox. the years 1950-1965. Topics include Reform Judaism, Jewish and Christian dialogues, and various thoughts and ideas inspired by current events of the time, such as comic books, Sputnik, movies, etc. There are off-prints, clippings, and printed ephemera intermingled with the original notes and manuscripts.Series II pertains to the Auerbach’sche Waisen-Erziehungs-Anstalten fuer Juedische Knaben und Maedchen in Berlin, which was founded in 1833.
