We establish the existence of sequential equilibria in general menu games, known to be su±cient to analyze common agency problems. In particular, we show that our result solves some unpleasant features of early approaches.

Tau Custodian searches at the LHC

    Get PDF
The tau lepton can be more composite than naively expected in models of strong electroweak symmetry breaking with tri-bimaximal lepton mixing. New leptonic resonances required by custodial symmetry, the tau custodians, can then be the first signal of this lepton flavor realization. Tau custodians can be very light, decaying almost exclusively into taus. The LHC reach for these new leptons is up to masses of 240, 480 and 720 GeV for sqrt{s}=14 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 30, 300 and 3000 fb^{-1}, respectively. Our analysis can be extended to any pair produced particles decaying mostly into taus and Standard Model bosons.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure

Effective invariants of braid monodromy and topology of plane curves

In this paper we construct effective invariants for braid monodromy of affine curves. We also prove that, for some curves, braid monodromy determines their topology. We apply this result to find a pair of curves with conjugate equations in a number field but which do not admit any orientation-preserving homeomorphism.Comment: 26 pages, two EPS figures, LaTe

Gluon excitations in t tbar production at hadron colliders

We argue that a relatively light massive gluon with mass <= 1 TeV, small purely axial couplings to light quarks and sizable vector and axial couplings to the top quark can reproduce the large forward-backward asymmetry observed at the Tevatron without conflicting with the t tbar and the dijet invariant mass distributions measured at the Tevatron and the LHC. We show that realistic Higgsless models with warped extra dimensions naturally fulfil all the necessary ingredients to realize this scenario. While current data is unable to discover or exclude these heavy gluons with masses 850 GeV, they should be observed at the (7 TeV) LHC with a luminosity of the order of 300 pb^{-1}.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figure

Diboson resonant production in non-custodial composite Higgs models

We show that the recently reported excess in resonant diboson production can be explained in the context of non-custodial composite Higgs models. Dibosons are generated via the s-channel exchange of massive vector bosons present in these models. We discuss the compatibility of the signal excess with other diboson experimental searches. We also discuss the tension between diboson production and other experimental tests of the model that include electroweak precision data, dilepton, dijet and top pair production and show that there is a region of parameter space in which they are all compatible with the excess.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure

Research carried out in oncology has allowed the identification and characterization of molecular markers of resistance to antineoplastic drugs. It supposes a great advance and allows the administration of customized chemotherapies to patients. The aim of this work is to carry out a proteomic analysis in the wild type strain and cisplatin resistant strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in order to look for possible markers of resistance, as well as the mechanisms involved.Universidad de Málaga. One hundred of cells generations connect the resistance to drugs and the replicative aging mechanisms

    Get PDF
There are researchs that reveal a relationship between acquired resistance to antineoplastic drugs and aging. Therefore, the identification of genes involved in senescence could have a potential therapeutic utility for the prediction and/or prevention of resistance to antineoplastic drugs. The aim of this work is to study the relationship between replicative aging and acquired resistance to Cisplatin and Bleomycin in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.Universidad de Málaga. Learning-Based Adaptation for Personalized Mobility Assistance

    Get PDF
Mobility assistance is of key importance for people with disabilities to remain autonomous in their preferred environments. In severe cases, assistance can be provided by robotized wheelchairs that can perform complex maneuvers and/or correct the user’s commands. User’s acceptance is of key importance, as some users do not like their commands to be modified. This work presents a solution to improve acceptance. It consists of making the robot learn how the user drives so corrections will not be so noticeable to the user. Case Based Reasoning (CBR) is used to acquire a user’s driving model reactive level. Experiments with volunteers at Fondazione Santa Lucia (FSL) have proven that, indeed, this customized approach at assistance increases acceptance by the user. This work has been partially supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia (MEC), Project TEC2011-29106-C02-01. The authors would like to thank Santa Lucia Hospedale and all volunteers for their kind cooperation and Sauer Medica for providing the power wheelchair
