Design optimization of transonic airfoils
Numerical optimization procedures were considered for the design of airfoils in transonic flow based on the transonic small disturbance (TSD) and Euler equations. A sequential approximation optimization technique was implemented with an accurate approximation of the wave drag based on the Nixon's coordinate straining approach. A modification of the Euler surface boundary conditions was implemented in order to efficiently compute design sensitivities without remeshing the grid. Two effective design procedures producing converged designs in approximately 10 global iterations were developed: interchanging the role of the objective function and constraint and the direct lift maximization with move limits which were fixed absolute values of the design variables
Evaluasi Efektivitas Pemasaran di Rumah Sakit Panti Waluyo, Solo=Evaluation of Effectiveness of Marketing at Panti Waluyo Hospital, Solo
ABSTRACT
Hospitals undergo changes that were formerly social-based became social-business activities at present. As a result of financial difficulty of donors as well as of rapid technological development so that the hospital operation requires high cost. Therefore, hospitals need to be managed professionally. Here the role of marketing is very important and it should always be relevant to the current condition.
Panti Waluyo hospital is a private hospitals with 114 beds and its management is run by YAKKUM social institution. This study was conducted to evaluate effectiveness of marketing in Panti Waluyo hospital so that it could provide inputs for the hospital management in deciding its marketing system.
This study was conducted at Panti Waluyo hospital using Kotler-model questionnaires. Primary data were obtained using questionnaires while secondary data were obtained from the medical records. Data were analyzed using Kotler\u27s criteria, namely, answers of the questionnaires graded between 0 to 30 and the grades showed the marketing effectiveness.
The result included five attributes such as customer philosophy, integrated marketing organization, adequate marketing information, strategic orientation and operational efficiency. The result showed that the marketing effectiveness at Panti Waluyo hospital was still poor as seen from the questionnaires\u27 answers that iri average were scored 11 in the medium category.

Double polarization hysteresis loop induced by the domain pinning by defect dipoles in HoMnO3 epitaxial thin films
We report on antiferroelectriclike double polarization hysteresis loops in
multiferroic HoMnO3 thin films below the ferroelectric Curie temperature. This
intriguing phenomenon is attributed to the domain pinning by defect dipoles
which were introduced unintentionally during film growth process. Electron
paramagnetic resonance suggests the existence of Fe1+ defects in thin films and
first principles calculations reveal that the defect dipoles would be composed
of oxygen vacancy and Fe1+ defect. We discuss migration of charged point
defects during film growth process and formation of defect dipoles along
ferroelectric polarization direction, based on the site preference of point
defects. Due to a high-temperature low-symmetry structure of HoMnO3, aging is
not required to form the defect dipoles in contrast to other ferroelectrics
(e.g., BaTiO3).Comment: 4 figure
Assessing planning decisions by activity type during the scheduling process
Existing activity-based models still make assumptions about scheduling decision processes that are not well-informed by empirical evidence. In this article, a step forward is taken to better understand the activity-scheduling process and to improve activity-based models. In particular, different planning decision mechanisms depending on several activity type classifications are explored. First, models describing the planning of several aggregate activity types are considered. For these activities, three planning decisions are studied: location, planning time horizon and rescheduling. The 'with whom' planning decision is also studied when subtypes of recreational/entertainment activities are investigated in depth. Significant differences are found in modelling results for each activity type and subtype and each planning decision. These results confirm the existence of different mechanisms underlying the activity-travel decision process when activity types and subtypes are considered. Important conclusions related to the improvement of microsimulation models are highlighted.Ruiz Sánchez, T.; Roorda, MJ. (2011). Magnetic oxide semiconductors
Magnetic oxide semiconductors, oxide semiconductors doped with transition
metal elements, are one of the candidates for a high Curie temperature
ferromagnetic semiconductor that is important to realize semiconductor
spintronics at room temperature. We review in this paper recent progress of
researches on various magnetic oxide semiconductors. The magnetization,
magneto-optical effect, and magneto-transport such as anomalous Hall effect are
examined from viewpoint of feasibility to evaluate the ferromagnetism. The
ferromagnetism of Co-doped TiO2 and transition metal-doped ZnO is discussed.Comment: 26 pages, 5 tables, 6 figure

PRIMED: PRIMEr Database for Deleting and Tagging All Fission and Budding Yeast Genes Developed Using the Open-Source Genome Retrieval Script (GRS)
The fission (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) and budding (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) yeasts have served as excellent models for many seminal discoveries in eukaryotic biology. In these organisms, genes are deleted or tagged easily by transforming cells with PCR-generated DNA inserts, flanked by short (50-100bp) regions of gene homology. These PCR reactions use especially designed long primers, which, in addition to the priming sites, carry homology for gene targeting. Primer design follows a fixed method but is tedious and time-consuming especially when done for a large number of genes. To automate this process, we developed the Python-based Genome Retrieval Script (GRS), an easily customizable open-source script for genome analysis. Using GRS, we created PRIMED, the complete PRIMEr D atabase for deleting and C-terminal tagging genes in the main S. pombe and five of the most commonly used S. cerevisiae strains. Because of the importance of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) in many biological processes, we also included the deletion primer set for these features in each genome. PRIMED are accurate and comprehensive and are provided as downloadable Excel files, removing the need for future primer design, especially for large-scale functional analyses. Furthermore, the open-source GRS can be used broadly to retrieve genome information from custom or other annotated genomes, thus providing a suitable platform for building other genomic tools by the yeast or other research communities
