International audienceAdenine phosphoribosyltransferase (APRT) deficiency is a genetic disease characterized by an increased production of 2,8 dihydroxyadenine (2,8-DHA) precipitating in urine, leading to a crystalline nephropathy and end-stage renal disease. Here, we describe the high prevalence of granuloma (88%) in biopsies from patients with APRT deficiency. A murine model of 2,8-DHA nephropathy was generated, showing that anakinra or dexamethasone, combined with allopurinol, improved renal function to a larger extent than allopurinol alone, the standard therapy. Do spot market auction data help price discovery?

International audienceThis paper contributes to the price discovery literature by establishing, for the first time, the role of commodity spot market auction data. Using the New Zealand whole milk powder market as an example, we show that auction-level data explain the price discovery dynamics above and beyond determinants previously identified as being relevant to spot and futures market price formation. In particular, the price discovery of the futures market rises with the volume of dairy products traded at the auction, signaling that the volume auctioned induces a change in the trading strategies of futures market participants. The whole milk powder discovery process is found to primarily take place in the spot market, which aligns well with the auction predating the introduction of the futures market, its higher volume, and lower trading costs

Synthesis of protected syn 1,3-diols by intramolecular conjugate addition to vinyl sulfones

International audienceA short route to sulfones 9a-c is described. These synthons encompassing a syn 1,3-diol motif are model compounds for the C16-C24 fragment of Dolabelides. The benzylidene protecting group can be reduced regioselectively to furnish ß-hydroxysulfones 10a-b.
