Acetabular roof stress fracture: a rare cause of hip pain in children

    No full text
Stress fracture of acetabular roof is an unusual cause of hip pain. It is considered as an underdiagnosed entity. People who are more susceptible to experience this fracture are athletes, soldiers and dancers. We present the case of an 11 year old girl with a roof acetabular stress fracture for which the diagnosis and follow-ups were possible by the means of MRI. The treatment was keeping the child at a complete rest. Failure to abide with this treatment can cause the stress fracture to evaluate into a complete fracture. The Pan African Medical Journal. 2016;2

    Cystic lymphangioma of the arm

Cystic Lymphangiomas (CL) is an uncommun benign neoplasma wich frequently occurs to young adults. The lymphatic system can be developed by two theories: the centripetal and centrifugal theories. This study aims to present to a case of giant CL, because of its atypical location. A 3 years old girl consulted for a swelling of the lower 1/3 of the right arm, discovered since the age of 1 year. Complete surgical excision was performed with an external approach of the right arm. The contribution of imaging in particular MRI and the interest of a complete surgical excision which allows diagnosis and surgical treatment. However, a few local recurrences, fistula malformation or infection have been reported. No case of malignant transformation has been reported in the literature. Keywords: Lymphangioma, Cystic, Ar

The Pan African Medical Journal 2016;2

“Flash†Solvent-free Synthesis of Triazoles Using a Supported Catalyst

    No full text
A solvent-free synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles using neat azides and alkynes and a copper(I) polymer supported catalyst (Amberlyst® A21•CuI) is presented herein. As it provides the products in high yields and purities within minutes, this method thus being characterized as a "flash" synthesis, and was exemplified through the synthesis of a 24-compound library on a small scale

Automated Synthesis of a 96 Product-Sized Library of Triazole Derivatives Using a Solid Phase Supported Copper Catalyst

    No full text
This article deal with the parallel synthesis of a 96 product-sized library using a polymer-based copper catalyst that we developed which can be easily separated from the products by simple filtration. This gave us the opportunity to use this catalyst in an automated chemical synthesis station (Chemspeed ASW-2000). Studies and results about the preparation of the catalyst, its use in different solvent systems, its recycling capabilities and its scope and limitations in the synthesis of this library will be addressed. The synthesis of the triazole library and the very good results obtained will finally be discussed

    Copper(II) SBA-15: A reusable catalyst for azide–alkyne cycloaddition

International audienceThe azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction was investigated under catalytic conditions involving a copper (II) loaded silica based mesoporous material. Cu(II) SBA-15 demonstrated a high catalytic effect in 1,4-triazoles synthesis in organic. No additives such as a base or a reductant are required. Quantitative yields were obtained and a mere filtration of the mesoporous material which retains copper (II) allows the recovery of the catalyst. In addition, up to 5 times recycling of the catalyst was achieved without loss of the activity affording 1,4-triazoles in a yield up to 98%
