    Social Optima in Leader-Follower Mean Field Linear Quadratic Control

    This paper investigates a linear quadratic mean field leader-follower team problem, where the model involves one leader and a large number of weakly-coupled interactive followers. The leader and the followers cooperate to optimize the social cost. Specifically, for any strategy provided first by the leader, the followers would like to choose a strategy to minimize social cost functional. Using variational analysis and person-by-person optimality, we construct two auxiliary control problems. By solving sequentially the auxiliary control problems with consistent mean field approximations, we can obtain a set of decentralized social optimality strategy with help of a class of forward-backward consistency systems. The relevant Stackelberg equilibrium is further proved under some proper conditions

    The characteristics and mechanism of synergistic effect between the erosion and corrosion were investigated by means of erosion and corrosion testing, electrochemical measurements and microstrain measurement by XRD broadening. The investigations were carried out on heat-treated (as-received, annealed, quenched and tempered) AISI 52100 and AISI 1020 steels eroded with varying amounts of erodent (10g, 50g and 100g SiC particles) and/or at varying erosion angles (30°, 45° and 60°).     Numerical and Experimental Investigation on the Flow Separation Control of S809 Airfoil with Slot

    A new flow control approach called split blade is applied on the S809 airfoil in the present study. S809 airfoil was investigated experimentally and numerically with different operating conditions including cascade without control, cascade with slots that generate jets with AOAs of 0 degrees, 10 degrees, 15 degrees and 20 degrees. Good agreement was obtained between the comparison of the experimental and numerical results. The results show that the separation area increases with increase of the AOA and the large separation area appears on the airfoil suction surface at AOA equal to 20 degrees. Numerical results show that the control method has little negative influence on the airfoil performance at small AOAs. Smaller vortices are filled with the large separated area which is divided by the jet generated by split when the AOA is 20 degrees. The analysis on the lift coefficient and drag coefficient shows that the flow is improved with the control. The lift coefficient and drag coefficient do not change in the comparison between the cases before and after control when AOA is 0 degrees and 10 degrees. However, the lift coefficient increases and drag coefficient decreases when AOA is 15 degrees and 20 degrees

    Identification of potential shared gene signatures between gastric cancer and type 2 diabetes: a data-driven analysis

    BackgroundGastric cancer (GC) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) contribute to each other, but the interaction mechanisms remain undiscovered. The goal of this research was to explore shared genes as well as crosstalk mechanisms between GC and T2D.MethodsThe Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database served as the source of the GC and T2D datasets. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) were utilized to identify representative genes. In addition, overlapping genes between the representative genes of the two diseases were used for functional enrichment analysis and protein–protein interaction (PPI) network. Next, hub genes were filtered through two machine learning algorithms. Finally, external validation was undertaken with data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.ResultsA total of 292 and 541 DEGs were obtained from the GC (GSE29272) and T2D (GSE164416) datasets, respectively. In addition, 2,704 and 336 module genes were identified in GC and T2D. Following their intersection, 104 crosstalk genes were identified. Enrichment analysis indicated that “ECM-receptor interaction,” “AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications,” “aging,” and “cellular response to copper ion” were mutual pathways. Through the PPI network, 10 genes were identified as candidate hub genes. Machine learning further selected BGN, VCAN, FN1, FBLN1, COL4A5, COL1A1, and COL6A3 as hub genes.Conclusion“ECM-receptor interaction,” “AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications,” “aging,” and “cellular response to copper ion” were revealed as possible crosstalk mechanisms. BGN, VCAN, FN1, FBLN1, COL4A5, COL1A1, and COL6A3 were identified as shared genes and potential therapeutic targets for people suffering from GC and T2D

    Diet overlap between the endemic fish Anablariflus grahami(Cyprinidae) and the exotic noodlefish Neosalanx taihuensis (Salangidae) in lake Fuxian, China

    We studied diet composition and overlap of the exotic noodlefish (Neosalanx taihuensis) and the endemic fish Anaborilius grahami in a deep, oligotrophic lake in the Yunnan Plateau. A. grahami dominated the fish community in Lake Fuxian before the invasion of N. taihuensis in 1982, but it is now in the process of extinction, corresponding with an explosive increase in N. taihuensis population. Schoener's index (alpha=0.773) indicate that N. taihuensis and A. grahami have significant diet overlap, with both fish feeding mainly on zooplankton. An increased proportion of littoral prey, such as Procladius spp., Coleoptera, and epiphytes, in the diet of A. grahami indicated that this endemic fish shifted its main habitat from the off-shore zone in the late 1980s to the littoral zone at the present. A difference in reproduction between the two fishes, along with the overfishing, may have exacerbated the occupation of A. grahami's pelagic niche by N. taihuensis.     Beyond Sharing: Conflict-Aware Multivariate Time Series Anomaly Detection

    Massive key performance indicators (KPIs) are monitored as multivariate time series data (MTS) to ensure the reliability of the software applications and service system. Accurately detecting the abnormality of MTS is very critical for subsequent fault elimination. The scarcity of anomalies and manual labeling has led to the development of various self-supervised MTS anomaly detection (AD) methods, which optimize an overall objective/loss encompassing all metrics' regression objectives/losses. However, our empirical study uncovers the prevalence of conflicts among metrics' regression objectives, causing MTS models to grapple with different losses. This critical aspect significantly impacts detection performance but has been overlooked in existing approaches. To address this problem, by mimicking the design of multi-gate mixture-of-experts (MMoE), we introduce CAD, a Conflict-aware multivariate KPI Anomaly Detection algorithm. CAD offers an exclusive structure for each metric to mitigate potential conflicts while fostering inter-metric promotions. Upon thorough investigation, we find that the poor performance of vanilla MMoE mainly comes from the input-output misalignment settings of MTS formulation and convergence issues arising from expansive tasks. To address these challenges, we propose a straightforward yet effective task-oriented metric selection and p&s (personalized and shared) gating mechanism, which establishes CAD as the first practicable multi-task learning (MTL) based MTS AD model. Evaluations on multiple public datasets reveal that CAD obtains an average F1-score of 0.943 across three public datasets, notably outperforming state-of-the-art methods.     Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances in the lower atmosphere and surface waters of the Chinese Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and Yangtze River estuary

    Polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), in the forms of neutral polyfluoroalkyl substances in the gas phase of air and ionic perfluoroalkyl substances in the dissolved phase of surface water, were investigated during a sampling campaign in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and Yangtze River estuary in May 2012. In the gas phase, the concentrations of neutral Sigma PFASs were within the range of 76-551 pg/m(3). Higher concentrations were observed in the South Yellow Sea. 8:2 fluorotelomer alcohol (FTOH) was the predominant compound as it accounted for 92%-95% of neutral Sigma PFASs in all air samples. Air mass backward trajectory analysis indicated that neutral Sigma PFASs came mainly from the coast of the Yellow Sea, including the Shandong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces of China, and the coastal region of South Korea. The fluxes of gas phase dry deposition, were simulated for neutral PFASs, and neutral Sigma PFASs fluxes varied from 0.37 to 23 pg/m(2)/s. In the dissolved phase of the surface water, concentrations of ionic Sigma PFASs ranged from 1.6 to 118 ng/L, with the Bohai Sea exhibiting higher concentrations than both the Yellow Sea and the Yangtze River estuary. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) was the predominant compound accounting for 51%-90% of the ionic Sigma PFAS concentrations. Releases from industrial and domestic activities as well as the semiclosed geographical conditions increased the level of ionic Sigma PFASs in the Bohai Sea. The spatial distributions of perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkane sulfonic acids (PFSAs) were different significantly. The Laizhou Bay was the major source region of PFCAs and the Yangtze River estuary was the major source of PFSAs. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

    Occurrences and distribution characteristics of organophosphate ester flame retardants and plasticizers in the sediments of the Bohai and Yellow Seas, China

    Concentrations and distribution characteristics of organophosphate esters (OPEs) in surface sediment samples were analyzed and discussed for the first time in the open Bohai Sea (BS) and YellowSea (YS). Three halogenated OPEs [ tris-(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), tris-(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TCPP), and tris-(1,3-dichloro2- propyl) phosphate (TDCPP)] and five non-halogenated OPEs [ tri-isobutyl phosphate (TiBP), tri-n-butyl phosphate (TnBP), tripentyl phosphate (TPeP), triphenyl phosphate (TPhP) and tris-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (TEHP)] were detected in this region. The concentrations of eight OPEs in total (Sigma 8OPEs) ranged from 83 to 4552 pg g(-1) dry weight (dw). The halogenated OPEs showed higher abundances than the non-halogenated ones did, with TCEP, TCPP, and TEHP the main compounds. Generally, concentrations of OPEs in the BS were higher than those in the YS. Riverine input (mainly the Changjiang DilutedWater (CDW)) and deposition effect in the mud areas might have influenced the spatial distributions of OPEs. Correlation between OPE concentrations and total organic carbon (TOC) indicated TOC was an effective indicator for the distribution of OPEs.
