Systematic literature review about key factors in the identification of business opportunities

La identificación de oportunidades de negocio es una tarea determinante dentro de la dinámica del emprendimiento. Por ello, diferentes investigaciones han buscado relaciones entre los factores individuales y los resultados exitosos de este primer paso emprendedor. Aunque numerosos factores han sido analizados existe todavía una extensión considerable de definiciones que varían entre ellos. Atendiendo a esta necesidad, este artículo desarrolla una revisión sistemática de la literatura, consolidando aquellos factores que han sido incluidos en investigaciones de este campo durante los últimos diez años. Esta revisión se llevó a cabo siguiendo la metodología trietápica de Jennifer Platt, la cual ha sido ampliamente utilizada en artículos similares. Partiendo de un total de 3119 artículos, se hizo una depuración sistemática teniendo como resultado final un análisis de 30 artículos. Los resultados de este estudio indican que existen alrededor de 22 factores propuestos, siendo cinco los factores más importantes que facilitan la identificación de oportunidades de negocio: el conocimiento previo, el estado de alerta emprendedor, la autoeficacia, la creatividad, y las redes de contacto. Otros factores encontrados en el análisis son: la experiencia en emprendimiento, la experiencia laboral, la educación, las capacidades cognitivas, las intenciones de emprendimiento y la búsqueda activa de oportunidades en el mercado. Este trabajo contribuye a la literatura resumiendo los factores incluidos en múltiples investigaciones y ofreciendo líneas futuras de investigación para académicos interesados en el área.The identification of business opportunities is a determining task within the dynamics of entrepreneurship. Therefore, different researches have sought relationships between individual factors and the successful results of this first entrepreneurial step. Although numerous factors have been analyzed, there is still a considerable extension of definitions that vary between them. In response to this need, this article develops a systematic review of the literature, consolidating those factors that have been included in this research field during the last ten years. This review was carried out following the Jennifer Platt three-stage methodology, which has been widely used in similar articles. Starting from a total of 3119 articles, a systematic depuration was carried out resulting in an analysis of 30 articles. The results of this study indicate that there are about 22 proposed factors, with five being the most important among them, that facilitate the identification of business opportunities: prior knowledge, entrepreneurial alertness, self-efficacy, creativity, and contact networks. Other factors found in the analysis are: entrepreneurship experience, work experience, education, cognitive abilities, entrepreneurship intentions and the active search for opportunities in the market. This work contributes to the literature by summarizing the factors included in multiple investigations and offering future lines of research for academics interested in the area

The influence of absorptive capacity, sources of information and technological acquisition in the technological innovation breadth of manufacturing companies

This article is an approach to new definitions of materiality as applied to corporate performance and disclosure practices. Over time, the materiality lens will have implications for multiple operating areas. They will range from; risk and compliance to strategy setting, corporate policy and governance, management practices including stakeholder engagement, and even human resource management. In the second part there is a presentation of the definitions, scope and perspectives of materiality according to six relevant standard-setters in the field of sustainability reporting. Finally there is the presentation of how materiality is reported according to the six biggest groups of quoted companies in Spain.Este artículo es un acercamiento a las nuevas definiciones de materialidad aplicadas al desempeño corporativo y las prácticas de divulgación. Con el tiempo, la lente de materialidad tendrá implicaciones para múltiples áreas operativas. Van desde; riesgo y cumplimiento de la configuración de la estrategia, la política corporativa y la gobernanza, las prácticas de gestión, incluida la participación de las partes interesadas, e incluso la gestión de recursos humanos. En la segunda parte, se presentan las definiciones, el alcance y las perspectivas de materialidad de acuerdo con seis emisores de normas relevantes en el campo de los informes de sostenibilidad. Relationships of business strategies and organizational characteristics with innovation types: Application in service companies

Various authors maintain that innovation practices depend on business strategies, therefore companies must configure an organizational structure that facilitates the coordination of tasks and allows objectives to be reached. In a sample of 203 service companies, an analysis was carried out of the influence of business strategies and organizational characteristics on technical innovation and administrative innovation. The results indicate that there is an important relationship between the business strategy and the technical and administrative innovations. On the other hand, organizational characteristics only had a significant relationship with technical innovation but not with the administrative innovation.Varios autores sostienen que las prácticas de innovación dependen de las estrategias de negocio. Por consiguiente, las empresas deben configurar una estructura organizacional que facilite la coordinación de tareas y permita alcanzar los objetivos. En una muestra de 203 empresas de servicio se realizó un análisis de la influencia de las estrategias de negocio y de las características organizacionales en la innovación técnica y la innovación administrativa. Los resultados indican la existencia de una relación importante entre la estrategia de negocio y las innovaciones técnicas y administrativas. Además se encontró que las características organizacionales solo mostraron una relación significativa con la innovación técnica, pero no así con la innovación administrativa

Role of empowerment and identification with work teams in innovation climate

Several studies argue that an organizational climate oriented to promote innovation generates greater competitiveness in companies. However, very few researchers have explored the factors that lead to the formation of innovation climate and their effects on workers' performance. Based on a sample of 201 workers from manufacturing and service companies, an analysis was carried out to examine the influence of variables like empowerment and Identification with work teams in innovation climate. Furthermore, the influence of innovation climate on job performance and work commitment was analyzed. The results indicate that there is a positive relationship among the variables of the hypotheses, empowerment and Identification with work teams influence in innovation climate, and the latter influences work performance and work commitment

The influence of the project team efficacy and organizational factors on the success of mining project management

Some authors have proposed that project team efficacy influences the success of project management; however, this relationship has not been well investigated. The objectives of this study are to analyze the relationship between project team efficacy and the success of project management and to examine three moderator variables (task uncertainty, task interdependence, and chaos effect) in the relationship between them. This study was based on a sample of 52 mining work teams. The suggested hypotheses were con-firmed, there is an influential relationship between project team efficacy and the success of mining project management, as well as the significance of the moderate variables.Algunos autores han propuesto que la eficacia del equipo del proyecto influye en el ?xito de la gesti?n del proyecto. Sin embargo, esta relaci?n no ha sido bien investigada. Several authors argue that project management is conducted with quantitative techniques that correspond to a linear cause-effect behavior; however, it should be treated with techniques that correspond to a nonlinear cause and effect behavior. This study explores the behavior of project management under a non-linear cause-effect approach using chaos theory and four project management variables: time, human resources, quality, and cost. Parkinson's law and chaos theory are used; mathematical equations are formulated to explain nonlinear cause-effect behavior in project management. The study was conducted considering the experience of management in mining projects. The mathematical model found can be used by academics to deepen the analysis of the reasons for the complexity of project management. Also, this study is useful for managers in making decisions to calculate the expected duration of the project.Diversos autores sostienen que la gestión de proyectos se conduce con técnicas cuantitativas que corresponden a un comportamiento de causa-efecto lineal; sin embargo, debería ser tratada con técnicas que corresponden a un comportamiento de causa-efecto no lineal. Este estudio explora el comportamiento de la gestión de proyectos bajo un enfoque de causa-efecto no lineal utilizando la teoría del caos y cuatro variables de gestión proyectos: tiempo, recurso humano, calidad, y costo. Se utiliza la ley de Parkinson y la teoría del caos, se formulan ecuaciones matemáticas para explicar el comportamiento de causa-efecto no lineal en la gestión de proyectos.
