It is difficult to estimate how much knowledge is obtainecl from different sources. But even in the age of fast development of information technologies written sources - inclucling books - are still among the most important ones. The majority of knowledge which has been gathered there for millennia is comprised in books. The author points out to the most interesting information provicled by the research Book and Readers IV: who really reads in Slovenia and how much, what influences the passion for reading, and to what extent we u se books as a source of knowledge. She also searches for answers to the following questions: Who can learn from books? Which are the most frequently used ways to find books? How do the attitude to books and reading skills influence learning? She states that regarding self-education from books one needs not only determination and motivation; one should also have enough fundamental knowledge provided by secondary or grammar school, one shou ld be able to find the relevant books and be enough self-supporting to use a book properly as well as include the new data in one's system of knowledge.

Interactive system for music visualisation on the web

    Get PDF
This thesis focuses on the development and implementation of interactive web system, that is meant for sound vizualization. User can use this system to manipulate sound and displayed image, thus visualizing the sound on an HTML canvas. The user interface must be simple, understandable and above all user friendly, because while visualizing, user must react quickly and does not have the time to search for the desired functionality of the interface. The system is presented in the form of a website, therefore, web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS are used for implementation. There are two main ways in which the user can visualize sound: live mode, in which there are number of users involved in the visualization and solo mode, where the user visualizes the sound by himself, therefore havinig access to other functions, which are not available in live mode. All vizualization sessions are of course recorded and can be later watched or downloaded

The topic of diploma is: German Phraseological units with the components Hund and Katze and their Equivalents in Slovene. We searched for German phrases in the German dictionary „Langenscheidt Großwörterbuch Deutsch als Fremdsprache“ and for their Equivalents in Slovene in the dictionary „Slovar slovenskih frazemov”. We compared and sorted the idioms by equivalence types. We assumed that most of the idioms with Components “Hund and Katze” (dog and cat) are the same or at least similar. Due to that we decided to analyze and compare the Slovenian idioms with the components Hund and Katze. The aim of the diploma thesis was to determine the suitability of German idioms with the Slovenian and their equivalence. We have found out that completely equivalent are only 3/11 with units Hund and 2/5 with Katze, we also found out that some of the idioms don’t have these components or they contain others

    Preimages of 2D cellular automata

While computing preimages of 1D cellular automata is a well researched and documented problem, for 2D cellular automata there is less research available. For the 1D problem we know algorithms for counting and listing preimages where computational complexity is a linear function of the size of the problem. It is possible to determine whether a 1D cellular automaton is reversible, and what is the Garden of Eden sequence regular language. For the 2D problem we know a few algorithms, but they are poorly theoretically researched. We also know that the reversibility problem is in general undecidable for 2D cellular automata. The preimage network, first developed for 1D cellular automata, was proved to be a useful tool for explaining algorithms and for constructing proofs. Here I explain how to construct the preimage network for 2D cellular automata. While for the 1D problem this network is a normal graph, for 2D it was extended into the third dimension. Preimages are transformed from paths in the graph in 1D into surfaces on the network in 2D. Edge conditions are transformed from weights for vertices ending a path in the 1D problem into weights for the closed path around a preimage surface in the 2D problem. While developing the algorithm, it proved impossible to count preimages of 2D cellular automata with processing requirements growing linearly with problem size. Instead, processing requirements grow exponentially with the size in one of the dimensions. The described algorithm does not differ much from the existing ones. The cellular automaton is split into rows, the preimage list is first determined for each row from the first to the last. The row results are then combined into the result for the whole 2D problem. In a similar fashion to the 1D approach, the algorithm splits into two passes. In the first pass preimages are counted, in the second optional pass preimages are listed. The second pass is performed in the opposite direction, while rows are also observed from the opposite side. I see the main advantage of the described algorithm in using existing solutions for row processing. Solutions proved to be effective in solving the 1D problem. Using progressive encoding of intermediate solutions also enables reducing memory consumption

    Dreißig Jahre Familienplanung in Slowenien

Family planning programmes were introduced in Slovenia 35 years ago. Births were planned more successfully than pregnancies. The prevailing family planning method in the first stage was abortion, later on contraceptive use. Despite a consistent improvement in family planning and a decreased number of abortions, the maternal mortality rate among Slovenian women is still by three to five times higher than elsewhere in the developed world. Maternal mortality among adolescents is by three times higher than among older women, and their infants die more often than those born to older women. This makes adolescent pregnancies the most important risk factor for reproductive health. Usprkos dosljednom poboljšanju planiranja obitelji i smanjenju broja abortusa, smrtnost majki među slovenskim ženama još je uvijek tri do pet puta veća nego drugdje u razvijenom svijetu.

We aimed to determine key biomechanical parameters explaining age-related jumping performance differences in youth elite female soccer players. Multiple biomechanical parameters from countermovement (CMJ) squat (SJ) and drop (DJ) jump testing of elite female soccer players (n?=?60) within the same national training centre were analysed across ages 9-11y, 12-14y and 15-19y. Effects of age group and jump type on jump height were found, with the older jumping higher than the younger groups in all jumps (P
