    Get PDF
Y cuando la corrección angular en ángulo femoro-tibial era menor de 6º la supervivencia disminuía al 33%We evaluated the results in thirty-two patients (thirty-eight knees) who had had a high tibial osteotomy for varus gonarthrosis. The rate of survival was 58 per cent at 180 months. When the patient weigh was more than 1,32 times the ideal weight , the rate of survival decrease to 53 per cent. And when the angular correction after osteotomy was 6º or less, the rate of survival decreased to 33 per cent

Commitment and Competence as influencers of eWOM Valence. The case of Spanish accomodation in TripAdvisor.

The expansion of new technologies uses as a way of bringing together companies and consumers supposes multi-channel strategies in different activities or industrial sectors. Specifically, the review platforms such as TripAdvisor have changed the communication between tourist accommodation and consumers. This research, through the study of correlations, analyses the influence of commitment (training, planning and communication) and competence (productive use, active use and adoption of technology and knowledge) of accommodation with the obtained valence (much more positive than negative comments, more positive than negative comments, same positive and negative comments, more negative than positive comments and much more negative than positive comments). This research is based on a random sample of 328 Spanish accommodations with presence on TripAdvisor. With the help of Scraper software version 1.7 we obtain the comments received by the accommodation on TripAdvisor. These comments will be the foundation of the valence variable. To study the correlations between valence, commitment and competence it is used SPSS version 23. The results show a relation between commitment and valence and competence and valence. This research improves the understanding of eWOM and provides the basis for digital marketing strategies to get better reviews and ratings from customers. Future research can also investigate different company strategies as inductors of the eWOM valence.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech

Exploring the neural correlates of e-Assurance and multi-faced risk in e-Commerce

Despite the relative ease in which vendors enter this marketplace, the strongest difficulty is to decrease barriers which discourage online purchases. One of the most useful ways to increase consumer online trust and reduce perceived risk is creating trust mechanisms in web sites, such as seals of approval, consumer ratings and privacy policies. Specifically, this study applies a neuroscientific tool (functional magnetic resonance imaging- fMRI-) together with questionnaires with the aim to clear up the neural processing of those trust signals (e-assurances). Furthermore, using fMRI, we explore the “under-debated” dimensionality of perceived risk. The findings will advise online retailers with the most useful e-assurance to include in their websites as well as will specify the dimensions of perceived risk

Design of a patient-tailored active knee-ankle-foot orthosis to assist the gait of spinal cord injured subjects

—This paper presents the main design steps in the development of an active knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) conceived to assist the gait of incomplete spinal cord injured (SCI) subjects. The design approach is based on the idea of modifying the available passive orthoses by adding adaptable mechatronic modules at the joints. This approach has resulted in a prototype that has been tested on SCI patients. The design and control problems found and their adopted solutions are thoroughly described.Postprint (published version

This research was funded by ERDF grants co-financed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Project PGC2018-096405-B-I00), the Junta de Andalucia (group BIO286), the I+D+I project within the framework Programme of FEDER Andalucia 2014-2020 (Reference 1380901), the grants for I+D+I projects, on a competitive basis, within the scope of the Andalusian plan for research, development and innovation (Junta de Andalucia, PAIDI 2020, Reference: PY20_01002), and the funding for the recruitment of researchers under Action 9 and 10 of the Research Support Plan of the University of Jaen (2019-2020, R.02/10/2020; 2020-2021, R.01/01/2022).Heat stress is one of the abiotic stresses that leads to oxidative stress. To protect themselves, yeast cells activate the antioxidant response, in which cytosolic peroxiredoxin Tsa1 plays an important role in hydrogen peroxide removal. Concomitantly, the activation of the heat shock response (HSR) is also triggered. Nitro-fatty acids are signaling molecules generated by the interaction of reactive nitrogen species with unsaturated fatty acids. These molecules have been detected in animals and plants. They exert their signaling function mainly through a post-translational modification called nitroalkylation. In addition, these molecules are closely related to the induction of the HSR. In this work, the endogenous presence of nitro-oleic acid (NO2-OA) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is identified for the first time by LC-MS/MS. Both hydrogen peroxide levels and Tsa1 activity increased after heat stress with no change in protein content. The nitroalkylation of recombinant Tsa1 with NO2-OA was also observed. It is important to point out that cysteine 47 (peroxidatic) and cysteine 171 (resolving) are the main residues responsible for protein activity. Moreover, the in vivo nitroalkylation of Tsa1 peroxidatic cysteine disappeared during heat stress as the hydrogen peroxide generated in this situation caused the rupture of the NO2-OA binding to the protein and, thus, restored Tsa1 activity. Finally, the amino acid targets susceptible to nitroalkylation and the modulatory effect of this PTM on the enzymatic activity of Tsa1 are also shown in vitro and in vivo. This mechanism of response was faster than that involving the induction of genes and the synthesis of new proteins and could be considered as a key element in the fine-tuning regulation of defence mechanisms against oxidative stress in yeast.ERDF - Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness PGC2018-096405-B-I00Junta de Andalucia BIO286 PY20_01002I+D+I project within the framework Programme of FEDER Andalucia 2014-2020 1380901University of Jaen R.02/10/2020 R.01/01/202

Design, control and evaluation of a low-cost active orthosis for the gait of spinal cord injured subjects

Robotic gait training after spinal cord injury is of high priority to maximize independence and improve the living conditions of the patients. Current rehabilitation robots are expensive and heavy, and are generally found only in the clinical environment. To overcome these issues, we present the design of a low-cost, low-weight and personalized robotic orthosis for incomplete spinal cord injured subjects. The paper also presents a preliminary experimental evaluation of the assistive device on one subject with spinal cord injury that can control hip flexion to a certain extent, but lacks control of knee and ankle muscles. Results show that gait velocity, stride length and cadence of walking increased (24,11%, 7,41% and 15,56%, respectively) when wearing active orthoses compared to the case when the subject used the usual passive orthoses.Postprint (published version

La globalización capitalista entendida como un juego caótico

    Get PDF
