A fast and exact -stacking and -projection hybrid algorithm for wide-field interferometric imaging
The standard wide-field imaging technique, the -projection, allows
correction for wide-fields of view for non-coplanar radio interferometric
arrays. However, calculating exact corrections for each measurement has not
been possible due to the amount of computation required at high resolution and
with the large number of visibilities from current interferometers. The
required accuracy and computational cost of these corrections is one of the
largest unsolved challenges facing next generation radio interferometers such
as the Square Kilometre Array. We show that the same calculation can be
performed with a radially symmetric -projection kernel, where we use one
dimensional adaptive quadrature to calculate the resulting Hankel transform,
decreasing the computation required for kernel generation by several orders of
magnitude, whilst preserving the accuracy. We confirm that the radial
-projection kernel is accurate to approximately 1% by imaging the
zero-spacing with an added -term. We demonstrate the potential of our
radially symmetric -projection kernel via sparse image reconstruction, using
the software package PURIFY. We develop a distributed -stacking and
-projection hybrid algorithm. We apply this algorithm to individually
correct for non-coplanar effects in 17.5 million visibilities over a by
degree field of view MWA observation for image reconstruction. Such a
level of accuracy and scalability is not possible with standard -projection
kernel generation methods. This demonstrates that we can scale to a large
number of measurements with large image sizes whilst still maintaining both

The Meaning of Peace: William Faulkner, Modernism, and Perpetual Civil War
Much of scholarship regarding the presence of war in literary modernism has foregrounded psychic trauma endured by veterans of World War I. The returning soldier is often figured as representative of the war’s infiltration of the homefront. The common argument claims that the erosion of the distinction between war and peace (as well as private and public) is a mirror image of the veteran’s wounded psyche. This thesis, however, argues that peace and war in the West have always been indistinct. The body politic is, in actuality, constituted by a perpetual civil war. Furthermore, the novels of William Faulkner, because of their concern with the long history of war, provide a significant entry point into a discussion of literary modernism that adequately recognizes the constitutive violence of perpetual civil war.

The effects of shade on primocane fruiting blackberries in the field
Primocane fruiting blackberry production in Arkansas is limited by heat during the flowering and early fruiting season. Shade could be used to delay flowering and fruiting to more favorable growth period. This study was designed to test three levels of shade (0% [control], 30% and 50% shading) applied at three times during the growing season that examined the growth, development, physiology of flowering, and fruiting of ‘Prime-Ark® 45’ blackberries. The seven treatments were as follows: 1) an untreated control (CK), 2) early shade 30% (ES30), mid shade 30% (MS30), 4) late shade 30% (LS30), 5) early shade 50% (ES50), 6) mid shade 50% (MS50), and 7) late shade 50% (LS50). The 30% and 50% treatments were implemented 16 June (ES) and left on for 95 days, 1 July (MS) and left on for 80 days, and 15 July (LS) and left on for 66 days. All shade was removed 19 Sept. 2014. Foliar gas exchange using CIRAS®-3 portable gas exchange monitor and estimated chlorophyll content (Minolta SPAD®) were measured weekly. Beginning at maturity, fruit was harvested biweekly to determine fruit yields per plot. Plant growth was measured destructively at the end of the study period. The cumulative berry weight was greatest for LS50 and LS30 which was not different from the CK or MS50, while ES30, MS30, and ES50 berry weights were significantly less. The cumulative marketable weights were greatest for LS30 and CK, while ES30 and MS30 were less than the CK. Shade altered flower and fruit production, but was not found to result in higher fruit quantities compared to the control. Some ES treatments reduced cropping compared to LS treatments
Self-Determination in Social Context: A Social Cognitive Approach
There is growing support for situating understandings of self-determination for students with disabilities in social and cultural contexts. However, exploration and expansion of theory is needed to illuminate the complexities of self-determination in the process of academic and career development, particularly for students from culturally diverse backgrounds. In an attempt to create this understanding we propose the use of social cognitive career theory because this theory of career and academic development accounts for both personal background and identity variables (e.g., disability, gender, and culture) and intrapersonal cognitive variables (e.g., coping-efficacy, self-efficacy) (Lent, Brown, & Hackett, 1994).
