Aim of demand response (DR) programs are to change the usage pattern of electricity in such a way that, beneficial to the consumers as well as to the distributors by applying some methods or technology. This way additional cost to erect new energy sources can be postponed in power grid. Best method to implement demand response (DR) program is by influencing consumer through the implementation of real time pricing scheme. To harness the benefit of DR, automated home energy management system is essential. This paper presents a comprehensive demand response system with real time pricing. The real time price is determined after considering price elasticity of various classes of consumers and their load profiles. A real time clustering algorithm suitable for big data of smart grid is devised for the segmentation of consumers. This paper is novel in its design for real time pricing and modelling and automatic scheduling of appliances for home energy management. Simulation results showed that this new real time pricing method is suitable for DR programs to reduce the peak load of the system as well as reducing the energy expenditure of houses, while ensuring profit for the retailer

Life Style and Moral Principles of Tribal People in Kumari District

Human beings all around the world are leading their life with certain rules and restrictions.  Many characteristics can be found among this group. They follow good moral principles in their life. The reasons for such living are obvious. Many legal principles and moral concepts were followed by them such as family life, productivity, worship, fasting and cleanliness. Systematic studies about the tribal people of Kumari district have been going on since the arrival of Europeans. Many studies have been conducted based on the life style of tribal people. The studies help us to know the reason why they are living as a tribal people in forest areas and reason behind it. The article explores the lifestyle and the moral principles of tribal people in Kanyakumari district

Distributional Chaos in the Baire Space

In this paper we consider the question of distributional chaos on non-compact metric dynamical systems. We focus on a shift space over a countable alphabet, the Baire Space. We prove that on the Baire Space subshifts of finite type exhibit dense distributional chaos and subshifts of bounded type that are perfect and have a dense set of periodic points also have distributional chaos

Immunisation is a way to actively improve ones immunity against an antigen, so that if one day he is exposed to the same antigen does not cause disease. The purpose of this study was to determine what factors influence the level of knowledge housewife on immunization programs and to determine the extent of knowledge about the housewife in the village immunization program Semelinang Army. The theory used in this research is the theory of motivation. Motivation is the impulse that arises in a person is consciously or unconsciously to act with a certain purpose or can also be regarded as a business that can cause a person or group of people motivated to do something because they want mencxapai objectives to be achieved. Keywords: Immunization, level of knowledge, motivatio

Pollen spreads inquiry-based science education throughout Europe

This case study reviews the activity carried out by Pollen, a European network for promoting Inquiry-Based Science Education. The Pollen pilot programme involved working with communities to develop a hands-on approach to science education in primary schools. During the project, ICT played a crucial role in supporting teachers, classes and the project as a whole. The result was a promising model for bringing ICT and innovative pedagogy together in ways that enhance pupils’ experience at school. Pollen was a European research and development project supported by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research under the Science and Society part of the Sixth Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities. The project began in January 2006 and lasted three-and-a-half years. The research team was made up of a consortium of pedagogical and scientific organisations from 12 European countries and was launched in 12 European cities. Representing all areas of Europe (north, south, east and west), the network addressed their research questions in a diverse set of local educational contexts

Aggregated NETs Sequester and Detoxify Extracellular Histones

In response to various infectious and sterile stimuli neutrophils release chromatin decorated with bactericidal proteins, referred to as NETs. Their scaffolds are formed from chromatin fibers which display an apparent diameter of 15–17 nm and mainly consist from DNA (2 nm) and DNA-associated histones (11 nm). The NET-forming strands are thus not naked DNA but higher ordered chromatin structures. The histones may be released from the NET, especially if their tail arginines have been citrullinated. Several studies indicate that extracellular histones are toxic for mammalian epithelia and endothelia and contribute to the microvascular dysfunction observed e.g., in patients suffering from autoimmune diseases or sepsis. NETs formed at sites of very high neutrophil densities tend to clump and form fairly stable enzymatically active aggregates, referred to as aggNETs. The latter are endowed with a bunch of enzymes that cleave, bind, and/or modify autologous as well as foreign macromolecules. The tight binding of the serine proteases to the matrix precludes the spread of these toxic enzymes into the tissue but still allows the access of soluble inflammatory mediators to the enzymatic active internal surfaces of the NETs where they are degraded. Here, we describe that externally added histones are removed from culture supernatants of aggNETs. We will address the fate of the histones and discuss the feature on the background of neutrophil-driven diseases and the resolution of inflammation

Haptic Feedback Relocation from the Fingertips to the Wrist for Two-Finger Manipulation in Virtual Reality

Relocation of haptic feedback from the fingertips to the wrist has been considered as a way to enable haptic interaction with mixed reality virtual environments while leaving the fingers free for other tasks. We present a pair of wrist-worn tactile haptic devices and a virtual environment to study how various mappings between fingers and tactors affect task performance. The haptic feedback rendered to the wrist reflects the interaction forces occurring between a virtual object and virtual avatars controlled by the index finger and thumb. We performed a user study comparing four different finger-to-tactor haptic feedback mappings and one no-feedback condition as a control. We evaluated users' ability to perform a simple pick-and-place task via the metrics of task completion time, path length of the fingers and virtual cube, and magnitudes of normal and shear forces at the fingertips. We found that multiple mappings were effective, and there was a greater impact when visual cues were limited. We discuss the limitations of our approach and describe next steps toward multi-degree-of-freedom haptic rendering for wrist-worn devices to improve task performance in virtual environments.Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures, 1 table, submitted and accepted to the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) 2022 Conferenc

De novo serine biosynthesis from glucose predicts sex-specific response to antifolates in non-small cell lung cancer cell lines

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death. Intriguingly, males with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have a higher mortality rate than females. Here, we investigated the role of serine metabolism as a predictive marker for sensitivity to the antifolate pemetrexed in male and female NSCLC cell lines. Using
