    Effect of Piper betle and Brucea javanica on the Differential Expression of Hyphal Wall Protein (HWP1) in Non-Candida albicans Candida (NCAC) Species

    The study aimed to identify the HWP1 gene in non-Candida albicans Candida species and the differential expression of HWP1 following treatment with Piper betle and Brucea javanica aqueous extracts. All candidal suspensions were standardized to 1 x 10(6) cells/mL. The suspension was incubated overnight at 37 degrees C (C. parapsilosis, 35 degrees C). Candidal cells were treated with each respective extract at 1, 3, and 6 mg/mL for 24 h. The total RNA was extracted and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was carried out with a specific primer of HWP1. HWP1 mRNAs were only detected in C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis. Exposing the cells to the aqueous extracts has affected the expression of HWP1 transcripts. C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis have demonstrated different intensity of mRNA. Compared to P. betle, B. javanica demonstrated a higher suppression on the transcript levels of HWP1 in all samples. HWP1 was not detected in C. albicans following the treatment of B. javanica at 1 mg/mL. In contrast, C. parapsilosis and C. tropicalis were shown to have HWP1 regulation. However, the expression levels were reduced upon the addition of higher concentration of B. javanica extract.     Anode Fabrication for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells: Electroless and Electrodeposition of Nickel and Silver into Doped Ceria Scaffolds

    © 2016 The Authors.A novel fabrication method using electroless and electrodeposited Ni/Ag/GDC for SOFC anodes is presented. First a porous Ce0.9Gd0.1O2-x (GDC) scaffold was deposited on a YSZ electrolyte by screen printing and sintering. The scaffold was then metallized with silver using Tollens reaction, followed by electrodeposition of nickel from a Watts bath. The electrodes (Ni/Ag/GDC) were tested in both symmetrical and fuel cell configurations. The microstructures of the Ni/Ag/GDC anodes were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Nano-particles of Ni formed in the porous GDC scaffold provided triple phase boundaries (TPB). The electronic conductivity of the Ni/Ag/GDC (3.5/24.7/71.8 vol%) electrode was good even at relatively low Ni volume fractions. The electrochemical performance was examined in different concentrations of humidified hydrogen (3% H2O) and over a range of temperatures (600-750 °C). The total area specific resistance (ASR) of the anode at 750 °C in humidified 97 vol% H2 was 1.12 Ω cm2, with low-frequency polarization (R-l) as the largest contributor.     Attractor Solutions in f(T) Cosmology

    In this paper, we explore the cosmological implications of interacting dark energy model in a torsion based gravity namely f(T)f(T). Assuming dark energy interacts with dark matter and radiation components, we examine the stability of this model by choosing different forms of interaction terms. We consider three different forms of dark energy: cosmological constant, quintessence and phantom energy. We then obtain several attractor solutions for each dark energy model interacting with other components.     In a February 2012 Dean\u27s Lecture at Yale Law School titled National Security Law, Lawyers, and Lawyering in the Obama Administration, Jeh Johnson, then-General Counsel of the Department of Defense, undertook a strong defense of the Obama Administration\u27s legal regime and policies supporting the U.S. military\u27s counterterrorism efforts against al Qaeda and its associated forces. Scholars and lawyers of reasonable minds can-and ought to rationally debate many of the finer points of Johnson\u27s legal analysis, including the limitations he argues are placed upon the United States government\u27s use of force by certain precepts of international law. The goal in this short Essay, however, is not to consider the merits of Johnson\u27s legal analysis. Instead, this Essay highlights the various roles that national security lawyers in the executive branch play and the variety of ethical responsibilities those roles entail. This Essay critically discusses Johnson\u27s broad assertion that the government-and a fortiori, the government\u27s lawyers-must guard against aggressive interpretations of its authorities, lest such interpretations discredit the government\u27s efforts, provoke controversy, and invite challenge. This Essay argues that John- son\u27s failure to contextualize this position-to specify whether it applies to all situations that a government lawyer faces, or whether it is limited only to certain contexts-may lead a government lawyer to fail to meet his or her core ethical responsibilities when serving as an advocate for the government in national security matters

    Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Perusahaan BUMN. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh return on equity dan dividend payout ratio secara parsial dan simultan terhadap price book value. Return on equity adalah salah satu profitabilitas yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan Perusahaan untuk menghasilkan laba sesuai dengan ekuitasnya. Selanjutnya dividend payout ratio adalah persentase dari laba yang didistribusikan sebagai dividen. Teori ini merupakan aturan dividen yang dibayarkan kepada investor. Teori selanjutnya PBV yang digunakan untuk membandingkan nilai harga saham dengan nilai buku. Objek dari penelitian ini yaitu 13 Perusahaan dan projek ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling untuk mengumpulkan data. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi berganda dengan menggunakan SPSS 23 dimana sebelumnya data telah diuji dengan menggunakan uji asumsi klasik. Kesimpulannya return on equity dan dividend payout ratio secara bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap price book value dengan nilai R Square yaitu 16,1%. return on equity sendiri berpengaruh terhadap price book value, tetapi dividend payout ratio tidak berpengaruh terhadap price book value

    The fruit and hypocotyl of Ceriops tagal were analysed for their organic and inorganic constituents. They showed almost similar characteristics in major metabolites and high molecular weight elements. Both the samples had high concentration of the carbohydrates and crude fibre and very low in fat and protein. The ash was rich in NA, K and Ca. Some essential free amino acids and sugars were also present. Calorific values were found fairly high. There is a strong possibility of using fruit and hypocotyl of C. tagal as a source for supplementing animal feed
