    Prevalence of psychosocial problems among adolescents in rural areas of District Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh

    Introduction: Adolescence is a period of transition between childhood and adulthood. It is a phase of life marked by special attributes including rapid physical growth and development; physical, social and psychological maturity. Aims & Objectives: The present cross sectional study was conducted to assess the prevalence of psychosocial problems among adolescents in a rural area of District Muzaffarnagar. Materials & Methods: The study subjects were 210 adolescent girls and boys (10-19 years old) selected using multistage random sampling technique. The subjects were interviewed & detailed information was collected on a structured and pre-tested questionnaire after taking consent from the subject/ parents. The clinical diagnosis was generated as per the criteria laid down in ICD-10. The data was entered in Epi Info statistical software package Version 3.4.3 and suitable statistical methods were applied. Results: The overall prevalence of psychosocial problems amongst adolescent was found to be 41.43%. Most of them had conduct disorder (40.51% males & 35.88% females) followed by depression (30.38% males & 26.72% females). Conclusions: There are significant psychosocial problems amongst the adolescents. So, enough emphasis should be given to this component of adolescent health and thus it is recommended that a holistic approach to the underlying causes of psychosocial problems of adolescents should be undertaken

    Study of system- size effects in multi- fragmentation using Quantum Molecular Dynamics model

    We report, for the first time, the dependence of the multiplicity of different fragments on the system size employing a quantum molecular dynamics model. This dependence is extracted from the simulations of symmetric collisions of Ca+Ca, Ni+Ni, Nb+Nb, Xe+Xe, Er+Er, Au+Au and U+U at incident energies between 50 A MeV and 1 A GeV. We find that the multiplicity of different fragments scales with the size of the system which can be parameterized by a simple power law.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, latex2e:elsart.cl

As it is a polypahgous pest and infests more than 180 plants, it causes huge economic loss annually. It is a native to India and is widely distributed throughout the country. Agriculturists have taken several measures to control this pest. Earlier methods include the use of chemical pesticides and insecticides. In recent times, more attention is being paid to the biological control methods such as use of natural enemies, pheromones, neuropeptides, development of transgenic crops, RNA interference technology etc. These methods though have faced some challenges in implementation but are safe, sustainable and mostly species specific. Here, we have discussed the chemical and biological methods that have been used in the past or are currently in practice. We have also discussed some of quite recent but promising technologies which in future can be developed as a tool for the control of Helicoverpa armigera

    The backswimmer, Notonecta glauca Linnaeus for the morphological and bioecological investigations were collected during, the months of July to November from various ponds, ditches, and canals of Mathura and its nearby areas. These bugs were easily recognised due to their oblong, convex body; large eye; short four jointed antennae; four joined rostrum; large triangular scutellum; anterior legs inserted at the posterior margin of the pronotum; moderate long pronotum; last joint of antennae being must shorter than the penultimate one and posterior tarsi being without unguiculi. These insects are commonly known as water boatman and backswimmer as they swim on their backs with the help of their long oar-like hind legs. They are extremely predaceous and are very common around the edges of freshwater reservoirs such as ponds, lakes, and streams throughout India and the way be easily taken with a net.     The industrial dispute act 1947, provides the basis for settling disputes that may arise between employers and employees. According to the act if concerned parties are unable to resolve the dispute, they have several options open to them. One possibility is to set up a so called Works Committee consisting of workers and employers which tries to sort out dispute. However since the recommendations of such committee do not have any legal standings, this route of resolving the dispute is very rare.
