An attempt to apply a measuring dynamic network model into land subsidence process evaluation is described in the presented essay. The surface subsidence process, occurring on rural areas around KWK Bogdanka, is suspected to be consequent upon orogen drainage, related to drilling of mining shafts. The elaboration of archival measuring data with the use of a dynamic model of measuring network enabled to extend the interpretation extension of the interpretation of the observed settlements process for potential drainage process parameters, affecting a specific rock deformation process.W artykule opisano próbę zastosowania dynamicznego modelu geodezyjnej sieci pomiarowo-kontrolnej do oceny procesu osiadania powierzchni terenów wiejskich wokół KWK Bogdanka, wywołanego odwodnieniem górotworu podczas drążenia szybów wydobywczych tej kopalni. Opracowanie archiwalnych materiałów pomiarowych z wykorzystaniem dynamicznego modelu sieci pomiarowej umożliwiło rozszerzenie interpretacji zaobserwowanego procesu osiadań na potencjalne parametry procesu odwodnienia, wpływające na konkretny przebieg procesu deformacji górotworu

Knowledge of the characteristics describing the technological properties of the material is the basis for correct numerical simulation and the design of new technological processes or the modernization of existing ones. For each technological process of plastic forming, a set of features should be defined that correctly describe the susceptibility of the material to its shaping in a given process. The paper presents the results of rheological tests of 6xxx series Al alloy, obtained for deformation parameters corresponding to the process of the extrusion of large-size profiles. The effect of deformation conditions on changes in yield stress was determined. Next, the true values of the mathematical model coefficients describing the rheological properties of the tested material were determined using the inverse method, which is the basis for conducting numerical tests

The diagnostic and therapeutic approach to prostatic neurosarcoma, currently known as a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNst) of the prostate, due to its rarity, is not well established. Our presenting case was a 73 year old patient, admitted to the Hospital with suspicion of a prostatic tumor. The patient underwent surgical resection of the described pathological mass. Gross appearance of the pathological examination revealed a yellow-gray colored tumor, 12 × 6 × 7 cm in size. On cross-section: tumor heterogeneity, fatty, yellow-gray, with no foci of necrosis, but with a few cysts of 1–3 cm in size, with a gelatinous substance. Microscopic examination — showed neurosarcoma of the prostate. The patient died at six months follow-up, due to cardiovascular insufficiency.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to analyze the origin of birth defects in pregnant women from the Kujawy-Pomerania Region, and to identify factors affecting the formation of developmental disorders in the Province. Material and methods: The correlation between maternal age and fetal defects was investigated. We also attempted to determine whether environmental or family factors play a role in the formation of fetal abnormalities. Results: The analysis confirmed a correlation between the incidence of chromosomal aberrations and maternal age. Conclusions: Higher rates of neural tube defects were observed in fetuses born to mothers who did not take folic acid. The influence of other factors on developmental anomalies was not confirmed

Methods to Increase the Protective Effectiveness of Add-on Armour made of Perforated Ultra-High-Strength Nanobainitic Steel Plates

The mechanical properties of industrially produced perforated steel plates are obtained by hardening and low-temperature tempering to produce a martensitic microstructure. Another morphological type of steel microstructure that allows for ultra-high strength and, at the same time, a level of ductility that qualifies it for use in armour is nanobainite. Research into nanobainitic steels has led to the development of plates manufacturing technology at a level that can be implemented in industrial production, and has confirmed the high potential of this material for use as additional armour in the form of perforated plates. This paper reports the results of research aimed at developing a technology for the production of perforated armour plates made of nanobainitic steel, with properties competitive with currently available perforated steel plates on the world market with the highest protective effectiveness under conditions of multi-hit firing tests with small and medium calibre ammunition. The tests were performed on 300 260 mm plates, with the nominal thicknesses of 8 mm, 6 mm and 4 mm, produced from industrially melted nanobainitic steel NANOS-BA. The protective effectiveness of nanobainitic perforated plates in a system with a solid armour steel backing plate of 500 HBW hardness was tested by multi-hit firing, according to the procedures set out in the STANAG 4569 and AEP-55 vol. 1 specifications (adapted to the format of tested plates), against selected projectile types assigned to protection levels 2 and 3. Based on the analysis of the results of the firing tests and the macroscopic and microscopic examinations of the perforated plates before and after firing, the optimum perforation method was selected and the most favourable geometrical and dimensional arrangements of the perforations were determined for different plate thicknesses

Transcultural engagement with Polish memory of the Holocaust while watching Leszek Wosiewicz's Kornblumenblau

Kornblumenblau (Leszek Wosiewicz 1989) is a film that explores the experience of a Polish political prisoner interned at Auschwitz I. It particularly foregrounds issues related to Polish-Jewish relations during the Holocaust in its diegesis. Holocaust films are often discussed in relation to representation and the cultural specificity of their production context. However, this paper suggests thinking about film and topographies, the theme of this issue, not in relation to where a work is produced but in regards to the spectatorial space. It adopts a phenomenological approach to consider how, despite Kornblumenblau's particularly Polish themes, it might address the transcultural spectator and draw attention to the broader difficulties one faces when attempting to remember the Holocaust. Influenced particularly by the writing of Jennifer M. Barker and Laura U. Marks, this paper suggests that film possesses a body ¬¬- a display of intentionality, beyond those presented within the diegesis, which engages in dialogue with the spectator. During the experience of viewing Kornblumenblau, this filmic corporeality draws attention to the difficulties of confronting the Holocaust in particularly haptic ways, as the film points to the unreliability of visual historical sources, relates abject sensations to concentrationary spaces and breaks down as it confronts the scene of the gas chamber

Heritage parks of London and Warsaw, conservation, maintenance of trees and stands based on selected examples

The aim of the study was to develop proposals in order to improve the maintenance of selected heritage parks in Warsaw, with particular emphasis on trees and tree stands. Analyses leading to this, consist in showing the differences and similarities in the functioning and use of heritage parks in London and Warsaw. As a result of applying the adopted criteria, Kensington Park, Greenwich Park, Łazienki Królewskie and Ogród w Wilanowie were compared. Literature and field studies were carried out. The research was enriched with a survey on the evaluation of parks filled in by visitors. Based on the research, both parks were analysed in a descriptive form, supplemented with photographs, and the comparison between them. The greatest differences in the method of maintaining and managing both parks and their reasons were indicated. The differences in the species composition of trees were shown, incidental to including from historical and climatic conditions. It was found out that: in Warsaw there is no organisation associating with heritage parks, there are no long-term management plans. The process of issuing care decisions is complicated, what causes delays in their implementation, in Warsaw parks veteran trees are not isolated and they are not treated specially. External companies dealing with parks and tree stand conservation are employed one-off, which contributes to the lack of continuity and responsibility for the work performed. Proposed solutions may help to improve the management of Warsaw parks and contribute to the improvement of the condition of parks and their trees

The impact of earthworks on older trees in historical parks

The publication aims to investigate the quantitative impact of linear earthworks in urban parks, e.g. during roads’ and pavements’ modernization in the old trees’ root zones, on the increment in their external parameters (e.g. trunk circumference). Pilot studies (Warsaw, Poland) were carried out 2003–2019 in two historical parks: Ursynów and Królikarnia. The dataset of trees’ parameters is based on detailed dendrological inventories. Test groups consisted of trees exposed to damage and not exposed to damage (Ursynów) and the control group – trees growing in unchanged site conditions (Królikarnia). Among the three most abundant species of dendroflora, Norway maples (Acer platanoides L.) show the most visible difference (>1.8 cm) between the normal and the inhibited growth in trunk circumference. Two other species – black locusts (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) and small-leaved limes (Tilia cordata Mill.) – also revealed statistically significant differences in the increment of the trunk circumference (respectively: >1.3 cm and >1.4 cm). In general, the reaction of affected trees was a significant reduction of circumference increments from 2.6 to 4.0 times concerning trees not exposed to damage. The verification made with the resistograph in 2019 confirmed a statistically significant decrease in radial increments of trees remaining in the impact zone of the earthworks
