Noncommutative QED and Anomalous Dipole Moments
We study QED on noncommutative spaces, NCQED. In particular we present the
detailed calculation for the noncommutative electron-photon vertex and show
that the Ward identity is satisfied. We discuss that in the noncommutative case
moving electron will show {\it electric} dipole effects. In addition, we work
out the electric and magnetic dipole moments up to one loop level. For the
magnetic moment we show that noncommutative electron has an intrinsic (spin

Comment on "Constraint Quantization of Open String in Background B field and Noncommutative D-brane"
In the paper "Constraint Quantization of Open String in Background field
and Noncommutative D-brane", it is claimed that the boundary conditions lead to
an infinite set of secondary constraints and Dirac brackets result in a
non-commutative Poisson structure for D-brain. Here we show that contrary to
the arguments in that paper, the set of secondary constraints on the boundary
is finite and the non-commutativity algebra can not be obtained by evaluating
the Dirac brackets.Comment: minor corrections, to appear in Phys.Lett.
Transfusion-related acute lung injury in multiple traumatized patients
Background: Many of the multiple traumatized patients who refer to the hospital need transfusion. Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious clinical syndrome associated with the transfusion of plasma-containing blood components. In the article, we present a case of TRALI following transfusion of packed red blood cells Case Presentation: A 24 year old male referred to Shahid Beheshti Hospital due to multiple trauma with left femoral and humerus fractures. Due to severe anemia he received 3 units of packed red blood cells. The symptoms of TRALI began 2 hours after transfusion. He was transferred to intensive care unit (ICU) due to metabolic acidosis and severe hypoxia. The TRALI was confirmed after ruling out the other probable pulmonary diseases. He recovered and was discharged. Conclusion: Transfusion related acute lung injury should be considered in any case receiving transfusion of plasma containing blood components
Epidemiology of tuberculosis in northeast of Iran: A population-based study
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is currently one of the greatest problems in public health. Mycobacterium tuberculosis infects about one third of the world's population, of whom more than 80% are living in developing countries. The incidence and prevalence of TB are very different in various parts of Iran and also throughout the world. Golestan province is one of the areas in the country where the risk of TB is the highest because of its ethnically varied population and special location. We aimed to describe the prevalence of TB and related demographic data in Golestan province (northeast of Iran). Methods: We collected all data of patients with TB who registered in 2005 and 2006 in each of the 11 districts of Golestan province. Data were entered into the computer database and age-specific incidence rates per 100 000 population were calculated. Results: There were 321 new smear-positive cases. The incidence and prevalence of TB were 20.88 and 38.15 per 100 000 population, respectively. The male to female ratio was 0.96. Relapse of TB was reported in 20 patients. We found 141 cases of extrapulmonary TB, with a significant predominance in women. The organ most frequently involved in extrapulmonary TB was the lymph nodes. Generally, smear-negative TB was more common in men and extrapulmonary TB was more common in women. Conclusion: The incidence and prevalence of TB were higher in Golestan province in comparison with other provinces in Iran. We suggest using improved screening strategies and better education about TB for high-risk groups and physicians

Experimental study of out of equilibrium fluctuations in a colloidal suspension of Laponite using optical traps
This work is devoted to the study of displacement fluctuations of
micron-sized particles in an aging colloidal glass. We address the issue of the
validity of the fluctuation dissipation theorem (FDT) and the time evolution of
viscoelastic properties during aging of aqueous suspensions of a clay (Laponite
RG) in a colloidal glass phase. Given the conflicting results reported in the
literature for different experimental techniques, our goal is to check and
reconcile them using \emph{simultaneously} passive and active microrheology
techniques. For this purpose we measure the thermal fluctuations of micro-sized
brownian particles immersed in the colloidal glass and trapped by optical
tweezers. We find that both microrheology techniques lead to compatible results
even at low frequencies and no violation of FDT is observed. Several
interesting features concerning the statistical properties and the long time
correlations of the particles are observed during the transition
Combining multi-criteria and space syntax analysis to assess a pedestrian network: the case of Oporto
This paper describes a GIS-based integrated approach to assess a
pedestrian network by combining multi-criteria and space syntax. The
analysis combines pedestrian attributes with street connectivity and
both factors were evaluated by a group of experts. The approach was
adopted in the city of Oporto. Results show that the city centre offers
various conditions; however, overall they are poor for pedestrians.
Moreover, the streets which scored best are not integrated into the
network. The described approach can potentially be replicated in
other cities in terms of improving the walkability and promoting
