Numerical study on the effect of welding and heating treatments on strength of high strength steel column
[EN] High strength steel box columns are usually fabricated from steel slab by applying welding. The welding process can introduce residual stresses and geometric imperfections into the columns and influence the column strength. In this study, a numerical investigation on the behavior of high strength steel thin-walled box columns under the compression force was carried out. The welding processes were firstly simulated with commercial package ABAQUS in this study to find out the residual stress distributions in high strength steel box column. After that, the column behaviors under the compression were modelled with predefined field from the previous step. The effect of the welding process (including flux-core arc welding and submerged arc welding), heating treatment (including preheating and post-weld heat treatment) and geometrical imperfection on the residual stress field and box column strength was investigated and discussed.Jin, J.; Bao, W.; Liu, J.; Peng, Z. Finite Element Analysis of the Displacement Adjustment Scheme for Column Bases of a 10000 m3 Spherical Tank During Whole-body Heat Treatment
AbstractThe stress of spherical tank and displacement of column bases were calculated by finite element method, considering the uneven gravity loads on support columns which was caused by manufacturing and setting errors. The preliminary displacement adjustment scheme for column bases was made, according to the safety range of column bases displacement which was determined by the maximum stress restricted by allowable stress at the set heat treatment temperatures. The final scheme was made after checking the preliminary scheme. The method of making adjustment scheme of column bases for a 10000m3 spherical tank during the whole-body heat treatment may provide a reference for other large spherical tank
Analysis and design of power management scheme for an on-board solar energy storage system
This paper investigates the power management issues in a mobile solar energy storage system. A multi-converter based energy storage system is proposed, in which solar power is the primary source while the grid or the diesel generator is selected as the secondary source. The existence of the secondary source facilitates the battery state of charge detection by providing a constant battery charging current. Converter modeling, multi-converter control system design, digital implementation and experimental verification are introduced and discussed in details. The prototype experiment indicates that the converter system can provide a constant charging current during solar converter maximum power tracking operation, especially during large solar power output variation, which proves the feasibility of the proposed design
Self-calibration and motion recovery from silhouettes with two mirrors
LNCS v. 7724-7727 (pts. 1-4) entitled: Computer vision - ACCV 2012: 11th Asian Conference on Computer Vision ... 2012: revised selected papersThis paper addresses the problem of self-calibration and motion recovery from a single snapshot obtained under a setting of two mirrors. The mirrors are able to show five views of an object in one image. In this paper, the epipoles of the real and virtual cameras are firstly estimated from the intersection of the bitangent lines between corresponding images, from which we can easily derive the horizon of the camera plane. The imaged circular points and the angle between the mirrors can then be obtained from equal angles between the bitangent lines, by planar rectification. The silhouettes produced by reflections can be treated as a special circular motion sequence. With this observation, technique developed for calibrating a circular motion sequence can be exploited to simplify the calibration of a single-view two-mirror system. Different from the state-of-the-art approaches, only one snapshot is required in this work for self-calibrating a natural camera and recovering the poses of the two mirrors. This is more flexible than previous approaches which require at least two images. When more than a single image is available, each image can be calibrated independently and the problem of varying focal length does not complicate the calibration problem. After the calibration, the visual hull of the objects can be obtained from the silhouettes. Experimental results show the feasibility and the preciseness of the proposed approach. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.postprin
Search for Invisible Decays of and in and
Using a data sample of decays collected with the BES
II detector at the BEPC, searches for invisible decays of and
in to and are performed.
The signals, which are reconstructed in final states, are used
to tag the and decays. No signals are found for the
invisible decays of either or , and upper limits at the 90%
confidence level are determined to be for the ratio
and for . These are the first
searches for and decays into invisible final states.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures; Added references, Corrected typo
Characterization of starch synthetic genes and starch granule during seeds development between synthetic hexaploid wheat and its parents
To study the development of starch granules in polyploid wheats, we investigated the expression of starch synthetic genes between the synthetic hexaploid wheat SHW-L1, its parents T. turgidum AS2255 and diploid Ae. tauschii AS60. The synthetic hexaploid wheat SHW-L1 showed significantly higher starch content and grain weight than its parents. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that SHW-L1 rapidly developed starch granules than AS2255 and AS60. The amount of B-type granule in AS60 was less than that in SHW-L1 and AS2255. RT-qPCR result showed that the starch synthetic genes AGPLSU1, AGPLSU2, AGPSSU1, AGPSSU2, GBSSI, SSIII, PHO1 and PHO2 expressed at earlier stages with larger quantity in SHW-L1 than in its parents during wheat grain development. The expression of the above mentioned genes in AS60 was slower than in SHW-L1 and AS2255. The expression pattern of starch synthase genes was also associated with the grain weight and starch content in all three genotypes. The results suggested that the synthetic hexaploid wheat inherited the pattern of starch granule development and starch synthase gene expression from tetraploid parent. The results suggest that tetraploid wheat could plays more important role for starch quality improvement in hexaploid wheat

Direct Measurements of the Branching Fractions for and and Determinations of the Form Factors and
The absolute branching fractions for the decays and
are determined using singly
tagged sample from the data collected around 3.773 GeV with the
BES-II detector at the BEPC. In the system recoiling against the singly tagged
meson, events for and events for decays are observed. Those yield
the absolute branching fractions to be and . The
vector form factors are determined to be
and . The ratio of the two form
factors is measured to be .Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Measurements of the observed cross sections for exclusive light hadron production in e^+e^- annihilation at \sqrt{s}= 3.773 and 3.650 GeV
By analyzing the data sets of 17.3 pb taken at GeV
and 6.5 pb taken at GeV with the BESII detector at the
BEPC collider, we have measured the observed cross sections for 12 exclusive
light hadron final states produced in annihilation at the two energy
points. We have also set the upper limits on the observed cross sections and
the branching fractions for decay to these final states at 90%
