Absorption cross section in warped AdS_3 black hole revisited
We investigate the absorption cross section for minimal-coupled scalars in
the warped AdS_3 black hole. According to our calculation, the cross section
reduces to the horizon area in the low energy limit as usually expected in
contrast to what was previously found. We also calculate the greybody factor
and find that the effective temperatures for the two chiral CFT's are
consistent with that derived from the quasinormal modes. Observing the
conjectured warped AdS/CFT correspondence, we suspect that a specific sector of
the CFT operators with the desired conformal dimension could be responsible for
the peculiar thermal behaviour of the warped AdS_3 black hole.Comment: 16+1 pages, typos corrected, references and footnotes adde
The submuscular sliding plate technique for acetabular posterior wall fractures extending to the acetabular roof
AbstractThere is extension of the Kocher-Langenbeck approach using trochanteric osteotomy for posterior wall fracture extending to acetabular roof, but it exposes to complications such as nonunion, breakage, and heterotopic ossification. The current study introduces a submuscular sliding plate technique. We retrospectively analyzed 13 patients treated with this technique. It is based on conventional method for posterior wall fracture. After reduction of roof fragment with direct visualization, a pre-contoured plate was passed through a submuscular tunnel under the gluteus medius and minimus. A small split incision was performed on the muscles, and screws were inserted with a triple trocar complex safely under fluoroscopic imaging. All patients had fracture union without complications. X-rays results showed anatomical reduction in 10 cases and imperfect reduction in 3 cases. Our results were satisfactory, particularly without heterotopic ossifications despite no prophylactic regimen of NSAID was applied and no neurological complications, so we believe that this technique is a good option for posterior wall fractures extending to the acetabular roof
Penta-quark states with hidden charm and beauty
More and more hadron states are found to be difficult to be accommodated by
the quenched quark models which describe baryons as 3-quark states and mesons
as antiquark-quark states. Dragging out an antiquark-quark pair from the gluon
field in hadrons should be an important excitation mechanism for hadron
spectroscopy. Our recent progress on the penta-quark states with hidden charm

Absorption cross section in the topologically massive gravity at the critical point
The absorption cross section for the the warped AdS black hole background
shows that it is larger than the area even if the s-wave limit is considered.
It raises some question whether the deviation from the areal cross section is
due to the warped configuration of the geometry or the rotating coordinate
system, where these two effects are mixed up in the warped AdS black hole.
So, we study the low-frequency scattering dynamics of propagating scalar fields
under the warped AdS background at the critical point which reduces to the
BTZ black hole in the rotating frame without the warped factor, which shows
that the deformation effect at the critical point does not appear.Comment: 12 pages, LaTe
High-resolution Ce 3d-edge resonant photoemission study of CeNi_2
Resonant photoemission (RPES) at the Ce 3d -> 4f threshold has been performed
for alpha-like compound CeNi_2 with extremely high energy resolution (full
width at half maximum < 0.2 eV) to obtain bulk-sensitive 4f spectral weight.
The on-resonance spectrum shows a sharp resolution-limited peak near the Fermi
energy which can be assigned to the tail of the Kondo resonance. However, the
spin-orbit side band around 0.3 eV binding energy corresponding to the f_{7/2}
peak is washed out, in contrast to the RPES spectrum at the Ce 3d -> 4f RPES
threshold. This is interpreted as due to the different surface sensitivity, and
the bulk-sensitive Ce 3d -> 4f RPES spectra are found to be consistent with
other electron spectroscopy and low energy properties for alpha-like
Ce-transition metal compounds, thus resolves controversy on the interpretation
of Ce compound photoemission. The 4f spectral weight over the whole valence
band can also be fitted fairly well with the Gunnarsson-Schoenhammer
calculation of the single impurity Anderson model, although the detailed
features show some dependence on the hybridization band shape and (possibly) Ce

2-C-methylated nucleotides terminate virus RNA synthesis by preventing active site closure of the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase
The 2-C-methyl ribonucleosides are nucleoside analogs representing an important class of antiviral agents, especially against positive-strand RNA viruses. Their value is highlighted by the highly successful anti-hepatitis C drug sofosbuvir. When appropriately phosphorylated, these nucleotides are successfully incorporated into RNA by the virally encoded RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). This activity prevents further RNA extension, but the mechanism is poorly characterized. Previously, we had identified NMR signatures characteristic of formation of RdRp-RNA binary and RdRp-RNA-NTP ternary complexes for the poliovirus RdRp, including an open-to-closed conformational change necessary to prepare the active site for catalysis of phosphoryl transfer. Here we used these observations as a framework for interpreting the effects of 2-C-methyl adenosine analogs on RNA chain extension in solution-state NMR spectroscopy experiments, enabling us to gain additional mechanistic insights into 2-C-methyl ribonucleoside-mediated RNA chain termination. Contrary to what has been proposed previously, poliovirus RdRp that was bound to RNA with an incorporated 2-C-methyl nucleotide could still bind to the next incoming NTP. Our results also indicated that incorporation of the 2-C-methyl nucleotide does not disrupt RdRp-RNA interactions and does not prevent translocation. Instead, incorporation of the 2-C-methyl nucleotide blocked closure of the RdRp active site upon binding of the next correct incoming NTP, which prevented further nucleotide addition. We propose that other nucleotide analogs that act as nonobligate chain terminators may operate through a similar mechanism
Palm kernel expellers as an alternative ingredient in growing pig diets
This study evaluated the effects of palm kernel expellers in growing diets on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and carcass and meat quality characteristics of growing-finishing pigs. A total of 88 growing pigs were randomly assigned to two dietary treatment groups. The control diet (CON) was a typical growing or finishing diet based on corn-soybean meal, and the treatment diet (PKE) was formulated by replacing CON with 20% palm kernel expellers. The PKE-CON group was fed the PKE diet during the growing period (six weeks) and the CON diet during the finishing period (12 weeks). The CON-CON group was fed the CON diets during both growing and finishing periods. The PKE-CON group showed significantly depressed growth performance and lower nutrient digestibility than the CON-CON group during the growing period. However, after feeding the typical finisher diets during the finishing period, the PKE-CON group showed no difference in growth performance in comparison with the CON-CON group during both the finishing and overall experimental periods. In addition, carcass and meat quality characteristics were not significantly different between the PKE-CON and the CON-CON groups. The results of this study imply that palm kernel expellers can be an alternative ingredient in the growing diets of growing-finishing pigs if the combined feeding strategy (PKE for the growing period and CON for the finishing period) is used.Keywords: Feed alternatives, growing pig diet, growth performance, meat quality traits, palm kernel expelle
A Naturally Narrow Positive Parity Theta^+
We present a consistent color-flavor-spin-orbital wave function for a
positive parity Theta^+ that naturally explains the observed narrowness of the
state. The wave function is totally symmetric in its flavor-spin part and
totally antisymmetric in its color-orbital part. If flavor-spin interactions
dominate, this wave function renders the positive parity Theta^+ lighter than
its negative parity counterpart. We consider decays of the Theta^+ and compute
the overlap of this state with the kinematically allowed final states. Our
results are numerically small. We note that dynamical correlations between

Quasi-normal modes of warped black holes and warped AdS/CFT correspondence
We analytically calculate the quasi-normal modes of various perturbations of
spacelike stretched and null warped black holes. From AdS/CFT
correspondence, these quasi-normal modes are expected to appear as the poles in
momentum space of retarded Green functions of dual operators in CFT at finite
temperature. We find that this is indeed the case, after taking into account of
the subtle identification of quantum numbers. The subtlety comes from the fact
that only after appropriate coordinate transformation the asymptotic geometries
of warped black holes are the same as the ones of warped spacetimes. We
show that in general the quasi-normal modes are in good agreement with the
prediction of the warped AdS/CFT correspondence, up to a constant factor. As a
byproduct, we compute the conformal dimensions of boundary operators dual to
the perturbations. Our result gives strong support to the conjectured warped

New hairy black holes with negative cosmological constant
Black hole solutions with nonspherical event horizon topology are shown to
exist in an Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with negative cosmological constant. The
main characteristics of the solutions are presented and differences with
respect to the spherically symmetric case are studied. The stability of these
