Robustness analysis of signaling transduction networks based on Monte-Carlo method
The dynamic behaviors of cell system were deep ly affected by structural complexity of cell signal transduction networks and uncertainty of kinetics parameters. How to quantitatively determinate the relation between system behaviors and parameters variations was an important p roblem of systems biology. In order to study robustness of NF - κB signal transduction networks, the parameters of system model were assigned to subject to stochastic distributions. Then, robustness of system output signal NF - κBn with respect to 64 parameters variations and amp litude variation of step input signal IKK was studied by means of Monte - Carlo method. The simulation results demonstrate that the oscillation behavior of system output signal NF - κBn is closely relative to 6 key rate constantswhose robustness isweak, and the amp litude variation of step input signal IKKmakes a great impact on the oscillation behavior of system output
Dark matter annihilation and non-thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect: II. dwarf spheroidal galaxy
We calculate the CMB temperature distortion due to the energetic electrons
and positrons produced by dark matter annihilation (Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect),
in dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSphs). In the calculation we have included two
important effects which were previously ignored. First we show that the
electron-positron pairs with energy less than GeV, which were neglected in
previous calculation, could contribute a significant fraction of the total
signal. Secondly we also consider the full effects of diffusion loss, which
could significantly reduce the density of electron-positron pairs at the center
of cuspy halos. For neutralinos, we confirm that detecting such kind of SZ
effect is beyond the capability of the current or even the next generation
experiments. In the case of light dark matter (LDM) the signal is much larger,
but even in this case it is only marginally detectable with the next generation
of experiment such as ALMA. We conclude that similar to the case of galaxy
clusters, in the dwarf galaxies the SZ_2DM} effect is not a strong probe of
DM annihilations.Comment: 22 pages, 9 figures, version accepted by JCA
On the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect from dark matter annihilation or decay in galaxy clusters
We revisit the prospects for detecting the Sunyaev Zel'dovich (SZ) effect
induced by dark matter (DM) annihilation or decay. We show that with standard
(or even extreme) assumptions for DM properties, the optical depth associated
with relativistic electrons injected from DM annihilation or decay is much
smaller than that associated with thermal electrons, when averaged over the
angular resolution of current and future experiments. For example, we find:
(depending on the assumptions) for \mchi
= 1 GeV and a density profile for a template cluster
located at 50 Mpc and observed within an angular resolution of , compared
to . This, together with a full spectral
analysis, enables us to demonstrate that, for a template cluster with generic
properties, the SZ effect due to DM annihilation or decay is far below the
sensitivity of the Planck satellite. This is at variance with previous claims
regarding heavier annihilating DM particles. Should DM be made of lighter
particles, the current constraints from 511 keV observations on the
annihilation cross section or decay rate still prevent a detectable SZ effect.
Finally, we show that spatial diffusion sets a core of a few kpc in the
electron distribution, even for very cuspy DM profiles, such that improving the
angular resolution of the instrument, e.g. with ALMA, does not necessarily
improve the detection potential. We provide useful analytical formulae
parameterized in terms of the DM mass, decay rate or annihilation cross section
and DM halo features, that allow quick estimates of the SZ effect induced by
any given candidate and any DM halo profile.Comment: 27 p, 6 figs, additional section on spatial diffusion effects.

On a two variable class of Bernstein-Szego measures
The one variable Bernstein-Szego theory for orthogonal polynomials on the
real line is extended to a class of two variable measures. The polynomials
orthonormal in the total degree ordering and the lexicographical ordering are
constructed and their recurrence coefficients discussed.Comment: minor change
Hard diffractive quarkonium hadroproduction at high energies
We present a study of heavy quarkonium production in hard diffractive process
by the Pomeron exchange for Tevatron and LHC energies. The numerical results
are computed using recent experimental determination of the diffractive parton
density functions in Pomeron and are corrected by unitarity corrections through
gap survival probability factor. We give predictions for single as well as
central diffractive ratios. These processes are sensitive to the gluon content
of the Pomeron at small Bjorken-x and may be particularly useful in studying
the small-x physics. They may also be a good place to test the different
available mechanisms for quarkonium production at hadron colliders.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. Final version to be published in

ATIC and PAMELA Results on Cosmic e^\pm Excesses and Neutrino Masses
Recently the ATIC and PAMELA collaborations released their results which show
the abundant e^\pm excess in cosmic rays well above the background, but not for
the \bar{p}. Their data if interpreted as the dark matter particles'
annihilation imply that the new physics with the dark matter is closely related
to the lepton sector. In this paper we study the possible connection of the new
physics responsible for the cosmic e^\pm excesses to the neutrino mass
generation. We consider a class of models and do the detailed numerical
calculations. We find that these models can natually account for the ATIC and
PAMELA e^\pm and \bar{p} data and at the same time generate the small neutrino
masses.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures. Published version with minor corrections and more

Resistive and magnetized accretion flows with convection
We considered the effects of convection on the radiatively inefficient
accretion flows (RIAF) in the presence of resistivity and toroidal magnetic
field. We discussed the effects of convection on transports of angular momentum
and energy. We established two cases for the resistive and magnetized RIAFs
with convection: assuming the convection parameter as a free parameter and
using mixing-length theory to calculate convection parameter. A self-similar
method was used to solve the integrated equations that govern the behavior of
the presented model. The solutions showed that the accretion and rotational
velocities decrease by adding the convection parameter, while the sound speed
increases. Moreover, by using mixing-length theory to calculate convection
parameter, we found that the convection can be important in RIAFs with magnetic
field and resistivity.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, accepted by Ap&S

Low-Luminosity Accretion in Black Hole X-ray Binaries and Active Galactic Nuclei
At luminosities below a few percent of Eddington, accreting black holes
switch to a hard spectral state which is very different from the soft
blackbody-like spectral state that is found at higher luminosities. The hard
state is well-described by a two-temperature, optically thin, geometrically
thick, advection-dominated accretion flow (ADAF) in which the ions are
extremely hot (up to K near the black hole), the electrons are also
hot ( K), and thermal Comptonization dominates the X-ray
emission. The radiative efficiency of an ADAF decreases rapidly with decreasing
mass accretion rate, becoming extremely low when a source reaches quiescence.
ADAFs are expected to have strong outflows, which may explain why relativistic
jets are often inferred from the radio emission of these sources. It has been
suggested that most of the X-ray emission also comes from a jet, but this is
less well established.Comment: To appear in "From X-ray Binaries to Quasars: Black Hole Accretion on
