A compiled catalog of rotation measures of radio point sources

We compiled a catalog of Faraday rotation measures (RMs) for 4553 extragalactic radio point sources ublished in literature. These RMs were derived from multi-frequency polarization observations. The RM data are compared to those in the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) RM catalog. We reveal a systematic uncertainty of about 10.0±1.510.0 \pm 1.5\,rad~m−2^{-2} in the NVSS RM catalog. The Galactic foreground RM is calculated through a weighted averaging method by using the compiled RM catalog together with the NVSS RM catalog, with careful consideration of uncertainties in the RM data. The data from the catalog and the interface for the Galactic foreground RM calculations are publicly available on the webpage: http://zmtt.bao.ac.cn/RM/.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures. Shear stress relaxation and ensemble transformation of shear stress autocorrelation functions revisited

We revisit the relation between the shear stress relaxation modulus G(t)G(t), computed at finite shear strain 0<γ≪10 < \gamma \ll 1, and the shear stress autocorrelation functions C(t)∣γC(t)|_{\gamma} and C(t)∣τC(t)|_{\tau} computed, respectively, at imposed strain γ\gamma and mean stress τ\tau. Focusing on permanent isotropic spring networks it is shown theoretically and computationally that in general G(t)=C(t)∣τ=C(t)∣γ+GeqG(t) = C(t)|_{\tau} = C(t)|_{\gamma} + G_{eq} for t>0t > 0 with GeqG_{eq} being the static equilibrium shear modulus. G(t)G(t) and C(t)∣γC(t)|_{\gamma} thus must become different for solids and it is impossible to obtain GeqG_{eq} alone from C(t)∣γC(t)|_{\gamma} as often assumed. We comment briefly on self-assembled transient networks where Geq(f)G_{eq}(f) must vanish for a finite scission-recombination frequency ff. We argue that G(t)=C(t)∣τ=C(t)∣γG(t) = C(t)|_{\tau} = C(t)|_{\gamma} should reveal an intermediate plateau set by the shear modulus Geq(f=0)G_{eq}(f=0) of the quenched network.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

Gluonic probe for the short range correlation in nucleus

    Get PDF
We investigate the gluonic probe to the nucleon-nucleon short range correlation (SRC) in nucleus through heavy flavor production in deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The relevant EMC effects of [Formula presented] structure function will provide a universality test of the SRCs which have been extensively studied in the quark-channel. These SRCs can also be studied through the sub-threshold production of heavy flavor in eA collisions at the intermediate energy electron-ion collider, including open Charm and J/ψ (ϒ) production
