“El guardián de la salud”: Un juego de rol para promover hábitos saludables de vida y actividad física desde la Educación Física

La nueva realidad que caracteriza a los adolescentes en la sociedad actual requiere que en el ámbito educativo se produzca una renovación de ideas en sus planteamientos, que logre construir nexos de unión entre sus objetivos fundamentales y las nuevas necesidades y valores del alumnado. Al mismo tiempo, a esto habría que añadir otro problema de gran repercusión social, que demanda actuaciones significativas desde el área de EF, como es el relacionado con la salud. Por ello, a continuación, se presenta un enfoque diferente a la hora de abordar los contenidos del bloque de salud, a partir de un recurso de gran atractivo entre los adolescentes: los Juegos de Rol, junto al apoyo de las Nuevas Tecnologías

Atès que a hores d’ara està ja més que justificat el desenvolupament de la salut des de l’EF escolar, molts professionals de l’àrea criden l’atenció sobre la importància de l’avaluació. I és que, en moltes ocasions, incomprensiblement, aquesta no es porta a terme o, en d’altres, té escassa coherència amb els objectius plantejats i/o amb les activitats realitzades durant la fase d’intervenció. A conseqüència d’aquest fet, en aquest treball es presenta una alternativa d’avaluació a través d’un joc de grup anomenat “El Trèvol de la Salut”, i també la valoració que en fa l’alumnat de segon cicle d’ESO, on destaca l’alt grau de satisfacció assolit, igual com la capacitat per estimular l’aprenentatge

A consecuencia de ello, en este trabajo se presenta una alternativa de evaluación a través de un juego grupal denominado “El Trébol de la Salud”, así como la valoración del mismo por parte del alumnado de segundo ciclo de ESO, donde destaca el alto grado de satisfacción alcanzado, así como la capacidad para estimular el aprendizaje

Development of organic fertilizers from food market waste and urban gardening by composting in Ecuador

Currently, the management of urban waste streams in developing countries is not optimized yet, and in many cases these wastes are disposed untreated in open dumps. This fact causes serious environmental and health problems due to the presence of contaminants and pathogens. Frequently, the use of specific low-cost strategies reduces the total amount of wastes. These strategies are mainly associated to the identification, separate collection and composting of specific organic waste streams, such as vegetable and fruit refuses from food markets and urban gardening activities. Concretely, in the Chimborazo Region (Ecuador), more than 80% of municipal solid waste is dumped into environment due to the lack of an efficient waste management strategy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a demonstration project at field scale in this region to evaluate the feasibility of implanting the composting technology not only for the management of the organic waste fluxes from food market and gardening activities to be scaled-up in other developing regions, but also to obtain an end-product with a commercial value as organic fertilizer. Three co-composting mixtures were prepared using market wastes mixed with pruning of trees and ornamental palms as bulking agents. Two piles were created using different proportions of market waste and prunings of trees and ornamental palms: pile 1 (50:33:17) with a C/N ratio 25; pile 2: (60:30:10) with C/N ratio 24 and pile 3 (75:0:25) with C/N ratio 33), prepared with market waste and prunings of ornamental palm. Throughout the process, the temperature of the mixtures was monitored and organic matter evolution was determined using thermogravimetric and chemical techniques. Additionally, physico-chemical, chemical and agronomic parameters were determined to evaluate compost quality. The results obtained indicated that all the piles showed a suitable development of the composting process, with a significant organic matter decomposition, reached in a shorter period of time in pile 3. At the end of the process, all the composts showed absence of phytotoxicity and suitable agronomic properties for their use as organic fertilizers. This reflects the viability of the proposed alternative to be scaled-up in developing areas, not only to manage and recycle urban waste fluxes, but also to obtain organic fertilizers, including added value in economic terms related to nutrient contents.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Lupus eritematoso sistémico en un gato

Describimos el caso clínico de un gato macho de dos años de edad con un historial de gingivoestomatitis ulcerativa. Los análisis realizados revelan fallo renal con proteinuria, trombocitopenia e hipoalbuminemia. Tras el diagnóstico diferencial de glomerulonefropatía se procede a realizar un análisis de anticuerpos antinucleares, obteniéndose un resultado positivo. Se realiza el diagnóstico de lupus eritematoso sistémico basándonos en la presencia de cuatro de los criterios establecidos por la Asociación Americana de Reumatismo para el diagnóstico de lupus en humanos

Temporal and spatial variations of the absolute reflectivity of Jupiter and Saturn from 0.38 to 1.7 μ\mum with PlanetCam-UPV/EHU

We provide measurements of the absolute reflectivity of Jupiter and Saturn along their central meridians in filters covering a wide range of visible and near-infrared wavelengths (from 0.38 to 1.7 $\mu$m) that are not often presented in the literature. We also give measurements of the geometric albedo of both planets and discuss the limb-darkening behavior and temporal variability of their reflectivity values for a period of four years (2012-2016). This work is based on observations with the PlanetCam-UPV/EHU instrument at the 1.23 m and 2.2 m telescopes in Calar Alto Observatory (Spain). The instrument simultaneously observes in two channels: visible (VIS; 0.38-1.0 $\mu$m) and short-wave infrared (SWIR; 1.0--1.7 $\mu$m). We obtained high-resolution observations via the lucky-imaging method. We show that our calibration is consistent with previous independent determinations of reflectivity values of these planets and, for future reference, provide new data extended in the wavelength range and in the time. Our results have an uncertainty in absolute calibration of 10--20\%. We show that under the hypothesis of constant geometric albedo, we are able to detect absolute reflectivity changes related to planetary temporal evolution of about 5-10\%.Comment: 13 pages, 18 figures, (in press
