Contributions of order to form factors and unitarity of the CKM matrix
The form factors for the semileptonic decay are computed to
order in generalized chiral perturbation theory. The main difference
with the standard expressions consists in contributions quadratic in
quark masses, which are described by a single divergence-free low-energy
constant, . A new simultaneous analysis is presented for the CKM matrix
element , the ratio , decay rates and the
scalar form factor slope . This framework easily accommodates the
precise value for deduced from superallowed nuclear -decays
Decay of pseudoscalars into lepton pairs and large-Nc QCD
The counterterm combination that describes the decay of pseudoscalar mesons
into charged lepton pairs at lowest order in chiral perturbation theory is
considered within the framework of QCD in the limit of a large number of
colours Nc. When further restricted to the lowest meson dominance approximation
to large-Nc QCD, our results agree well with the available experimental data.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
Orbital-selective Mott transitions in the anisotropic two-band Hubbard model at finite temperatures
The anisotropic degenerate two-orbital Hubbard model is studied within
dynamical mean-field theory at low temperatures. High-precision calculations on
the basis of a refined quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) method reveal that two
distinct orbital-selective Mott transitions occur for a bandwidth ratio of 2
even in the absence of spin-flip contributions to the Hund exchange. The second
transition -- not seen in earlier studies using QMC, iterative perturbation
theory, and exact diagonalization -- is clearly exposed in a low-frequency
analysis of the self-energy and in local spectra.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

Hadronic Contributions to the Muon Anomaly in the Constituent Chiral Quark Model
The hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon which
are relevant for the confrontation between theory and experiment at the present
level of accuracy, are evaluated within the same framework: the constituent
chiral quark model. This includes the contributions from the dominant hadronic
vacuum polarization as well as from the next--to--leading order hadronic vacuum
polarization, the contributions from the hadronic light-by-light scattering,
and the contributions from the electroweak hadronic vertex.
They are all evaluated as a function of only one free parameter: the
constituent quark mass. We also comment on the comparison between our results
and other phenomenological evaluations.Comment: Several misprints corrected and a clarifying sentence added. Three
figures superposed and two references added. Version to appear in JHE
Light quarks masses and condensates in QCD
We review some theoretical and phenomenological aspects of the scenario in
which the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry is not triggered by a
formation of a large condensate . Emphasis is put on the resulting
pattern of light quark masses, on the constraints arising from QCD sum rules
and on forthcoming experimental tests.Comment: 23 pages, 12 Postscript figures, LaTeX, uses svcon2e.sty, to be

Contribution of higher meson resonances to the electromagnetic -meson mass difference
Modifications of the DGMLY relation for calculation of electromagnetic
-meson mass difference based on the Chiral Symmetry Restoration phenomenon
at high energies as well as the Operator Product Expansion of quark densities
for vector () and axial-vector () meson fields difference are
proposed. In the calculations higher meson resonances in vector and
axial-vector channels are taken into account. It is shown that the inclusion of
the first and radial excitations improves the results for
electromagnetic -meson mass difference as compared with the previous ones.
Estimations on the electromagnetic and -meson decay constants and
the constant of effective chiral Lagrangian are obtained from the
generalized Weinberg sum rules.Comment: Latex2e, 10 pages, submitted to Yad. Phy
Almost-Commutative Geometries Beyond the Standard Model
In [7-9] and [10] the conjecture is presented that almost-commutative
geometries, with respect to sensible physical constraints, allow only the
standard model of particle physics and electro-strong models as
Yang-Mills-Higgs theories. In this publication a counter example will be given.
The corresponding almost-commutative geometry leads to a Yang-Mills-Higgs
model which consists of the standard model of particle physics and two new
fermions of opposite electro-magnetic charge. This is the second
Yang-Mills-Higgs model within noncommutative geometry, after the standard
model, which could be compatible with experiments. Combined to a hydrogen-like
composite particle these new particles provide a novel dark matter candidate
