Identification of the driving forces in methanol-to-olefin conversion by modeling the zeolite cage and contents

The rapidly increasing demand of oil-based chemicals calls for the development of new technologies based on other natural sources. Among these emerging alternatives, the methanol-to-olefin process (MTO) in acidic zeolites is one of the most promising. However, unraveling the reaction mechanism of such an extremely complex catalytic process like MTO conversion has been a challenging task from both experimental and theoretical viewpoint. For over 30 years the actual mechanism has been one of the most discussed topics in heterogeneous catalysis.[1] Instead of plainly following direct routes,[2-3] the MTO process has experimentally been found to proceed through a hydrocarbon pool mechanism, in which organic reaction centers act as cocatalysts inside the zeolite pores, adding a whole new level of complexity to this issue.[4-5] Therefore, a more detailed understanding of the elementary reaction steps can be obtained with the complementary assistance of theoretical modeling. In this work, a complete supramolecular complex of both the zeolite framework and the co-catalytic hydrocarbon pool species is modeled through state-of-the-art quantum chemical techniques [6-7]. This approach provides a more detailed understanding of the crucial interactions between the zeolite framework and its contents, which form the driving forces for successful methanol-to-olefin conversion. Bankruptcy: Bank Which in Good Faith and Without Notice Honors Clientā€™s Check After He Is Adjudicated Bankrupt Not Liable to Trustee for Depletion of the Bankruptā€™s Estate

Relying on contractual and equitable principles to overcome fairly explicit statutory language, the United States Supreme Court in Bank of Marin v. England refused to hold the bank liable for funds of a depositor which had been dispersed without notice of the latter\u27s voluntary filing of a petition in bankruptcy. While the decision promotes the security of commercial transactions in which checks are chosen as the form of payment, the Court\u27s analysis is not without deficiencies. This note, in addition to attempting a more palatable justification for the holding with reliance in part upon countervailing provisions of the Bankruptcy Act, also presents suggestions for legislative reformation which would achieve, without complication, the result promoted by the Marin majority

A New International Division of Labor in Europe: Offshoring and Outsourcing to Eastern Europe

Europe is reorganizing its international value chain. I document these changes in Europeā€™s international organization of production with new survey data of Austrian and German firms investing in Eastern Europe. I show estimates of the share of intra-firm trade between Austria and Germany on the one hand and Eastern Europe on the other. Furthermore, I present empirical evidence of the drivers of the new division of labor in Europe. I find among other things that falling trade costs and falling corruption levels as well as improvements in the contracting environment in Eastern Europe are affecting the level of intra-firm imports from Eastern Europe. They are also favoring outsourcing over offshoring. Low organizational costs of hierarchies and large costs of hold-up (when there are no alternative investors in Old Europe or no alternative suppliers in Eastern Europe) are favoring offshoring over outsourcing. Tax holidays granted by host countries in Eastern Europe also mildly affect the organizational choice

Mons. dr. sc. Marin Srakić 2003. godine piÅ”e Kongregaciji za katolički odgoj i moli osnivanje Katoličkog bogoslovnog fakulteta (KBF) u Đakovu. Nakon posjeta Rimu biskup Marin piÅ”e drugo pismo Kongregaciji i nadopunjuje tražene dokumente. O svojoj namjeri izvjeŔćuje HBK i KBF u Zagrebu te Senat SveučiliÅ”ta J. J. Strossmayera u Osijeku. Biskup Marin piÅ”e treće pismo Kongregaciji. KBF iz Zagreba i HBK prihvaćaju inicijativu biskupa Marina. U jesen 2004. godine skupljaju se nužni dokumenti. U siječnju 2005. godine biskup Marin piÅ”e četvrto pismo Kongregaciji. Kardinal Zenon Grocholewski, pročelnik Kongregacije za katolički odgoj, potpisuje 4. lipnja 2005. godine Dekret o osnivanju KBF-a u Đakovu. Posljednji dokument ovoga procesa je Odluka dijecezanskoga biskupa Marina o početku djelovanja novoga fakulteta. In 2003 Monsignor Dr. Sc. Marin Srakić wrote to the Congregation for Catholic Education, asking for their approval to establish the Faculty of Theology in Đakovo. After his visit to Rome, Bishop Marin wrote another letter, enclosing the requested documents. Having informed the Croatian Bishopsā€™ Conference and Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb as well as the Senate of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek about his intentions, bishop Marin wrote his third letter to the Congregation. Both Catholic Faculty and Croatian Bishopsā€™ Conference accepted his initiative. In autumn, 2004 necessary documents were gathered, so the bishop sent his fourth letter to the Congregation in January, 2005. Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, head of the Congregation, signed the Decree on the establishment of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Đakovo on June 4th, 2005. The last document issued in this process was the Decree by the diocesan bishop, Marin Srakić, which launched the activities of the Faculty
