Pipe joints reinforced in place with fitted aluminum sleeves
Installation of an aluminum sleeve, using specially designed tools, reinforces solder- sealed ferrule joints in installed small-diameter aluminum tubing. Tubing joints reinforced by this method withstand considerable torsional tensional, and vibrational stresses at moderately elevated temperatures
Lathe attachment used to machine elliptical cones
Close-tolerance elliptical cones are fabricated by cutting-tool guide assembly used with conventional tracer cartridge on turret lathe accurately produced in two machine operations
Apparatus for machining geometric cones Patent
Rotary spindle lathe attachments for machining geometrical cone
Curricular and Teaching Strategies that Increase Desire to Provide Culturally Competent Care in Baccalaureate Nursing Students: An Integrated Review
Cultural competence is a component of the 2008 Essentials of Baccalaureate Nursing Education. Nationally, graduation exit testing has found that students continue to score as culturally aware, rather than culturally competent. This twelve article review of research literature identified curricular approaches and teaching strategies that have been found to create a student\u27s desire to provide and demonstrate cultural competent in practice. Findings supported the continuance of a thread of culture content within all nursing theory and clinical courses through inclusion of local or international, live or simulated service-learning. To facilitate contemplation of their progression journey of cultural awareness to competence, students should maintain a cultural activities self-reflection journal at all levels to support graduates as they transition into their professional practice
Dynamics of zonal flow-like structures in the edge of the TJ-II stellarator
The dynamics of fluctuating electric field structures in the edge of the
TJ-II stellarator, that display zonal flow-like traits, is studied. These
structures have been shown to be global and affect particle transport
dynamically [J.A. Alonso et al., Nucl. Fus. 52 063010 (2012)]. In this article
we discuss possible drive (Reynolds stress) and damping (Neoclassical
viscosity, geodesic transfer) mechanisms for the associated ExB velocity. We
show that: (a) while the observed turbulence-driven forces can provide the
necessary perpendicular acceleration, a causal relation could not be firmly
established, possibly because of the locality of the Reynolds stress
measurements, (b) the calculated neoclassical viscosity and damping times are
comparable to the observed zonal flow relaxation times, and (c) although an
accompanying density modulation is observed to be associated to the zonal flow,
it is not consistent with the excitation of pressure side-bands, like those
present in geodesic acoustic oscillations, caused by the compression of the ExB
flow field
Characteristics of main configurations of Wendelstein 7-X
For nine main magnetic configurations of Wendelstein 7-X the vacuum magnetic fields, Fourier coefficients, rotational transform profile, magnetic well, helical and effective helical ripple values are computed and results of modeling are available now for general use [1]. The influence of the shaping of the pressure profile on the plasma equilibrium and stability properties has been investigated for the Standard case, =4%. Simulation has shown that the edge region is almost independent of the pressure profile, while plasma properties inside the last closed magnetic surface (LCMS) are considerably changed
