Data quality and 30-day survival for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry: A data linkage study

Objectives The Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes (OHCAO) project aims to understand the epidemiology and outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) across the UK. This data linkage study is a subproject of OHCAO. The aim was to establish the feasibility of linking OHCAO data to National Health Service (NHS) patient demographic data and Office for National Statistics (ONS) date of death data held on the NHS Personal Demographics Service (PDS) database to improve OHCAO demographic data quality and enable analysis of 30-day survival from OHCA. Design and setting Data were collected from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014 as part of a prospective, observational study of OHCA attended by 10 English NHS Ambulance Services. 28 729 OHCA cases had resuscitation attempted by Emergency Medical Services and were included in the study. Data linkage was carried out using a data linkage service provided by NHS Digital, a national provider of health-related data. To assess data linkage feasibility a random sample of 3120 cases was selected. The sample was securely transferred to NHS Digital to be matched using OHCAO patient demographic data to return previously missing demographic data and provide ONS date of death data. Results A total of 2513 (80.5%) OHCAO cases were matched to patients in the NHS PDS database. Using the linkage process, missing demographic data were retrieved for 1636 (72.7%) out of 2249 OHCAO cases that had previously incomplete demographic data. Returned ONS date of death data allowed analysis of 30-day survival status. The results showed a 30-day survival rate of 9.3%, reducing unknown survival status from 46.1% to 8.5%. Conclusions In this sample, data linkage between the OHCAO registry and NHS PDS database was shown to be feasible, improving demographic data quality and allowing analysis of 30-day survival status
Further Search for the Two-Photon Production of the Glueball Candidate
The CLEOII detector at the Cornell e+ e- storage ring CESR has been used to
search for the two-photon production of the decaying into pi+ pi-.
No evidence for a signal is found in data corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of 4.77/fb and a 95% CL upper limit on of 2.5 eV is set. If this result is combined with the BES Collaboration's
measurement of in radiative decay, a 95% CL
lower limit on the stickiness of the of 73 is obtained. If the
recent CLEO result for \Gamma_{two-photon} * BR{\K_S K_S} is combined with
the present result, the stickiness of the is found to be larger
than 102 at the 95% CL. These results for the stickiness (the ratio of the
probabilities for two-gluon coupling and two-photon coupling) provide further
support for a substantial neutral parton content in the .Comment: 8 pages, postscript file also available through

Measurement of the Partila Width and Form Factor Parameters
We have studied the decay , where . From a fit to the differential decay rate we measure the
rate normalization and form factor slope

Determination of the Michel Parameters and the tau Neutrino Helicity in tau Decay
Using the CLEO II detector at the storage ring CESR, we have
determined the Michel parameters , , and in decay as well as the tau neutrino helicity parameter
in decay. From a data sample of
tau pairs produced at , using events of
the topology and , and the determined sign of , the combined
result of the three samples is: , , , and
. The results are in agreement with

Two-Body B Meson Decays to and -- Observation of {'}K$
In a sample of 6.6 million produced B mesons we have observed decays B ->
eta' K, with branching fractions BR(B+ -> eta' K+ = 6.5 +1.5 -1.4 +- 0.9) x
and BR(B0 -> eta' K0 = 4.7 +2.7 -2.0 +- 0.9) x . We have
searched with comparable sensitivity for 17 related decays to final states
containing an eta or eta' meson accompanied by a single particle or low-lying
resonance. Our upper limits for these constrain theoretical interpretations of

Flavor-Specific Inclusive B Decays to Charm
We have measured the branching fractions for B -> D_bar X, B -> D X, and B ->
D_bar X \ell^+ \nu, where ``B'' is an average over B^0 and B^+, ``D'' is a sum
over D^0 and D^+, and``D_bar'' is a sum over D^0_bar and D^-. From these
results and some previously measured branching fractions, we obtain Br(b -> c
c_bar s) = (21.9 3.7)%, Br(b -> s g) K^-
\pi^+) = (3.69 0.20)%. Implications for the ``B semileptonic decay
problem'' (measured branching fraction being below theoretical expectations)
are discussed. The increase in the value of Br(b -> c c_bar s) due to eliminates 40% of the discrepancy.Comment: 12 page postscript file, postscript file also available through

Study of 3-prong Hadronic Decays with Charged Kaons
Using a sample of 4.7/fb integrated luminosity accumulated with the CLEO-II
detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we have measured the
branching fractions of the tau lepton into and relative to and relative to . The relative branching fractions are: (5.16+-0.20+-0.50)*,
(1.52+-0.14+-0.29)*, (2.54+-0.44+-0.39)* and at 95%
C.L., respectively. Coupled with additional experimental information, we use
our results to extract information on the structure of three-prong tau decays

First Observation of
We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Upsilon(1S)
resonance collected with the CLEO-II detector operating at CESR. We present the
first observation of the radiative decays Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi+pi- and
Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi0pi0. For the dipion mass regime m(pipi)>1.0 GeV, we
obtain Br(Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi+pi-=(6.3+/-1.2+/-1.3) x 10^(-5), and
Br(Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi0pi0=(1.7+/-0.6+/-0.3) x 10^(-5). The observed gamma
pipi events are consistent with the hypothesis Upsilon(1S)->gamma f2(1270).Comment: 9 pages, postscript file also available through

Measurement of Charge Asymmetries in Charmless Hadronic in B Meson Decays
We search for CP-violating asymmetries (Acp) in the B meson decays to K+-
pi-+, K+- pi0, Ks pi+-, K+- eta', and omega pi+-. Using 9.66 million
Upsilon(4S) decays collected with the CLEO detector, the statistical precision
on Acp is in the range of \pm 0.12 to \pm 0.25 depending on decay mode. While
CP-violating asymmetries of up to \pm 0.5 are possible within the Standard
Model, the measured asymmetries are consistent with zero in all five decay
