    Anisotropy and percolation threshold in a multifractal support

    Full text link
    Recently a multifractal object, QmfQ_{mf}, was proposed to study percolation properties in a multifractal support. The area and the number of neighbors of the blocks of QmfQ_{mf} show a non-trivial behavior. The value of the probability of occupation at the percolation threshold, pcp_{c}, is a function of ρ\rho, a parameter of QmfQ_{mf} which is related to its anisotropy. We investigate the relation between pcp_{c} and the average number of neighbors of the blocks as well as the anisotropy of QmfQ_{mf}

    El “self” narrativo en busca de fundamento en la filosofía contemporánea

    One of the charges laid against the narrative approaches which argue for narrative self-constitution is that of the vicious circle. If a self is a story which someone could tell, and this self is author of its own tale, we are trapped in a circular argument. This article aims to evaluate the different answers to this problem given by the contemporary narrative approaches discussed, which are based on the search for a foundation for this narrative self external to the vicious circle

    Magnetic particles confined in a modulated channel: structural transitions tunable by tilting a magnetic field

    Full text link
    The ground state of colloidal magnetic particles in a modulated channel are investigated as function of the tilt angle of an applied magnetic field. The particles are confined by a parabolic potential in the transversal direction while in the axial direction a periodic substrate potential is present. By using Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, we construct a phase diagram for the different crystal structures as a function of the magnetic field orientation, strength of the modulated potential and the commensurability factor of the system. Interestingly, we found first and second order phase transitions between different crystal structures, which can be manipulated by the orientation of the external magnetic field. A re-entrant behavior is found between two- and four-chain configurations, with continuous second order transitions. Novel configurations are found consisting of frozen in solitons. By changing the orientation and/or strength of the magnetic field and/or the strength and the spatial frequency of the periodic substrate potential, the system transits through different phases.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Intususcepción intestinal con alteración hepatobiliar grave en un perro

    Las hepatopatías caninas caninas son frecuentes y secundarias a multitud de alteraciones, pero son raras las asociadas a obstrucciones extrahepáticas con compromiso sanguíneo y/o biliar del hígado. Estas obstrucciones suelen obedecer a lesiones espacio-ocupantes por alteración en órgnaos adyacentes. No se ha descrito la intususcepción intestinal como potencialmente responsable de hepatopatías secundarias a obstrucción extrahepática en el perro. Por otro lado, en perros adultos las intususcepciones intestinales son poco frecuentes y suelen ocurrir secundarias a cirugía o tumores abdominales. Presentamos un caso poco frecuente de intususcepción intestinal idiopática en un Shar-Pei adulto que comprometió el riego sanguíneo hepático y obstruyó las vías biliares, desencadenando una colangiohepatopatía. El perro presentó simultáneamente signos clínicos de ambas alteraciones por lo que, aunque el diagnóstico laboratorial nos confirmó la colangiohepatopatía, fue necesario realizar una exploración exhaustiva y exámenes radiológicos y ecográficos para llegar al diagnóstico definitivo.
