Tabulation of recorded gust and manuever accelerations and derived gust velocities and airplanes in the NASA VGH General Aviation Program
Tables of incremental gust and maneuver accelerations in 0.1g intervals (above preselected threshold values) and derived gust velocities in intervals of 4 ft/sec are presented for 95 general aviation airplanes flown for 35,286 hours in 9 types of operations
A review of the NASA V-G/VGH general aviation program
The V-G and VGH data collected from a wide variety of general aviation airplanes since the inception of the NASA V-G/VGH General Aviation Program in 1962 are presented. These data were analyzed to obtain information on the gust and maneuver loads, on the operating practices, and on the effects of different types of operations on these parameters
If Only They Could Know
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay\u27s first paragraph.
Teenager. Like most of the developmental stages of our young – the stage of ―teenager‖ can be described but never really understood until one travels that stretch of road for oneself with their teen. During a recent trip down a particularly tumultuous part of that path I recall wishing, yet again, ―If only they could understand and know the depth of the love we have for them – one they can so apparently not see at this point in their lives. A reflection that leads only to deeper thoughts about the immensity of this thing called ―a parents love
Operating experiences of retardant bombers during firefighting operations
Data are presented on operational practices and maneuver accelerations experienced by two Douglas DC-6B airplanes converted to retardant bombers and used in firefighting operations. The data cover two fire seasons in the mountainous regions of the northwestern United States
Lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to mass lesion of the brain: A case report
Intracranial mass lesions presenting secondary to neurologic disorders are well established but are rarely causes of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Only a very few cases were described in the literature. We present a 64‑year‑old woman with urinary urgency, frequency, and incontinence, which were secondary to a large meningioma along the anterior falx. New‑onset neurologic symptoms presenting as any unusual clinical presentations of LUTS should be explored to rule out potentially treatable causes before making decisions for uro‑gynecological interventions. Keywords: Brain tumor; frontal lobe; lower urinary tract symptoms; neurologic disorde
Agricultural Airplane Mission Time Structure Characteristics
The time structure characteristics of agricultural airplane missions were studied by using records from NASA VGH flight recorders. Flight times varied from less than 3 minutes to more than 103 minutes. There was a significant reduction in turning time between spreading runs as pilot experience in the airplane type increased. Spreading runs accounted for only 25 to 29 percent of the flight time of an agricultural airplane. Lowering the longitudinal stick force appeared to reduce both the turning time between spreading runs and pilot fatigue at the end of a working day
